  1. Not sure.....I just threaded it on till snug, then threaded it back to the tranny, threaded it on there and amazingly it worked! Just get it squared up and it will eventually go on. (Scrapes on my arm to show how contorted I was). The job stands out right up there with removing rear driveshaft bolts and control arm pins in difficulty!
  2. I just did my 73 this weekend. Disconnect the transmission end so you can pull loose cable at the speedometer. Feed the cable in the firewall and then reach your hand up behind the speedometer to feel the threads. Now, pull the cable in and try to bend (coerce) the cable so it’s approaching the threads squarely. Now, push the threaded collar onto the speedometer threads and just keep spinning till the threads grab. The secret is to make sure you are square. One of those jobs that really suck on getting done on a Z.
  3. I would definitely go with the SU’s. They are so simple and absolutely no problem feeding your set up. Get Ztherapy to build a set for you. They do a great job on my 3.1 Stroker Motors.
  4. Me either Jeff.......I’ve never replaced rear bearings. My motto “ If it ain’t broke, don’t break It”
  5. Wow.....what a great idea.....no idea why it wouldn’t work!
  6. I call this green .......
  7. JSM.....They all are a joy to drive....the silver and green cars have Stroker 3.1 Motors.....hard not to climb into one of those when I need a little lift!
  8. Solid lifters make noise. Your video displays normal noise. Valves should be set at .008 inches intake...... .010 exhaust. My guess is that your defect was probably from the factory. 9A55D3EA-537B-4D17-9833-6AEDD3EFFD66.MOV
  9. Just my opinion, but I doubt that the defect in that lobe is your source of noise. If it were mine, I would inspect the rocker for that lobe and if intact, I’d continue to run what you got.
  10. I’m impressed inline6.......looks like you are having fun too!!
  11. Hey grannyknot......you stealing my cars lol! Don’t know why I put all my cars under “about me”. Probably because my technical skills aren’t too strong. I always call SteveJ when I need help!
  12. My painter has cut, aligned and welded the sculpture. He’s almost ready to paint. I’ll bring him the emblem, mirror and chrome trim and then it should be impressive. Gonna be awesome!
  13. Those Watanabe’s are going to look so good on all that color!!! Beautiful.
  14. Hi Jeff.....Glad to know you’re getting your hands dirty. Sounds like your linkage isn’t hooked up correctly. Who rebuilt the carbs? Are the jets turned down 2 1/2 turns on each carb. I hope Ztherapy built the carbs. Happy New Year to you and Sue.
  15. Parts waiting to go in......this will be a Series One.
  16. Charles........Correct.....and it should be coming home in the next 3 months.
  17. The painter is finally getting around to working on the Z sculpture......I’ll update with progress. Thanks again Zup ......you are a true friend for providing the door.
  18. Bart........Curious where you sent your hinges to be rebuilt? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks Guy
  19. I put up pictures in my garage of my two favorite Z Heroes in the world. Z Doctor of Roanoke (RIP) and Eiji Hosomi of Datsun Spirit. Merry Christmas all!
  20. Not only is it color, but Safari Gold color!
  21. FWIW, I bought a pair of new 240Z front Konis to replace a blown Tokico in my rear Ground Control sectioned coilovers. I had the same gap as shown above and had to return the pair. The Konis are taller than the Tokicos and the struts were sectioned to fit Tokicos. Many thanks to my friend Jim Karst for selling me some nice used Tokicos, or I would have had to add a section to my strut (PITA). In the future, I would suggest shock tubes err on the side of too short, not too long (much easier to add a spacer to center the shock in the strut).
  22. Quote......“Go grab the "next best" 5 speed. Shifts fine on the floor, all gears turn the output shaft. Stuff it in the car, go for a drive, can't get it in 5th! Just grinds. Oh crap. “ I had a rebuilt 5 speed that would just grind going into 5th. Eiji said it’s because I had the wrong shifter. Is that correct Jim? Do the 5 speeds (ZX) use a different shifter to get into 5th gear. I never attempted to rebuild a tranny either, but I never had any problems with a 4 speed B tranny, so I gave him my two 5 speeds and I only have to shift 4 times in my Z’s. LOL.
  23. Looking at these pics it makes me so glad I don’t live in Canada (nothing to do with the enthusiasts). Cool car, something about the 510, but your driving season is so short. Makes me shiver just looking at that unheated garage.
