  1. Oh...by the way. Eiji's kit includes fuel pump studs and nuts and washers, valve cover bolts, inspection cover bolts, water inlet bolts and washers, water pump bolts, fan nuts and washers, all front cover bolts and washers, oil pump bolts and washers and flat washers, oil pan bolts, distributor bolts, thermostat housing bolts and washers, thermostat cover bolts, intake and exhaust studs, washers and nuts and thick washers, timing marker and nut, all cad plated and packaged individually!
  2. Eiji has the best engine bolts kits you can buy.....He also packages and labels all the bolts. I just saw him Sunday and ordered another set for my "in transit" 73. My fourth set from Datsun Spirit. Guy
  3. AMEN Jeff.....God created the Z to drive.....If you want a good investment buy "Forever Stamps"!
  4. Steve....Great color...and with wet sanding and buffing, it'll only get better!! Are those Willwoods hiding under that masking paper? Great..aren't they? Looking good. Guy
  5. At TDC the rotor should point somewhere in the range of the left hand snap tab on the top of distributor cap (facing it from the driver side). There is a line on the distributor cap that marks the #1 wire. Remember, the distributor turns counter clockwise when you plug in the firing order. Check the #1 wire for spark.....If you've got gas and fire you should be running. You're timing chain is correct if you lined up the bright links to crank and cam pulley at TDC.
  6. Carl.......You're beginning to sound like Brandon.......Every time I turn around, he finds a "must buy" Z. Believe me Bob.....none of my babies are for sale! How about a good bird dog?
  7. Todd's the man in the Tidewater area......get a good used diff and he'll drop it in for you. Did you have a car at this years Hampton show? I thought you had a white Z.
  8. It's a tough market right now. I just bought a 73 for $13,500.00 with 42,000 original miles. It was automatic also (at least until it arrives). I really liked Randy's car, but at 4200 miles it wouldn't make sense if you wanted a car you could drive. I was looking for silver and found it. Now I've filled the dance card (70,71,72 and 73).

Hi Rich......Take plenty of pics during the process....you'll only get the chance once. My son Brandon does a great job for me. We're pulling for this to be another great Z!!!! Guy
  10. It's irritating to go to ebay (DATSUN 240Z PARTS) ..........25% of items listed are REDDAT parts. Why doesn't he just mail out a catalog? If MSA did that it would take forever to go through the drill!! (IMO) Les and Charlie could really futz things up.
  11. He's a mystery to me.....He has good stuff and a good business.......He just wants to "milk" you on shipping. If he would just ease off on that, he'd have a lot more business.
  12. I've searched past forums and couldn't find this in any of them. If I'm swapping out an automatic tranny to manual in my 73 Z, is the console the same for each, or do I need to buy a different console for the manual tranny?
  13. The green Z wants to hurry up with the transplant before the new government health plan disallows it!
  14. The "Just SU's" DVD shows how to solve your problem.....you simply bend the bracket that attaches the nozzle to the bottom of the carburetor with a pair of needle nose plyers to relieve tension.
  15. I 2nd the bad air pump bearing. Chop the belt and try that.
  16. It's an absolute joy to drive.....The engine dynoed at 160 rear wheel H.P. (190 flyheel H.P.) The P79 is a great flowing head, even with the liners.Remember, if you want to run SU's, you'll have to drill out the fuel pump opening (I got a machine shop to do that). If I were you and already owned the P79 head, I'd go with it! Guy
  17. Greg.....Carl and I tried to figure that already.
  18. Rebello knows what they're talking about (obviously)........Here's a good web-site with a wealth of info. He discusses the P79 and what he's found regarding the exhaust liners (he doesn't think they are very restrictive). The headers look great! Good Luck! http://www.datsunzgarage.com/
  19. Thanks guys.....just found the culprit based on your suggestions. It's something loose or touching under the steering column......I reached up there and gently moved the wires around and things are back to normal. Now to pull the steering cover off and check which wire is the culprit! Electricity is something I know very little about except that "It bites you when you can't see it". Thanks for your ideas. Guy
  20. Jeff...... I use 10w-30. (FWIW).
  21. I buy mine at NAPA, buy Autozone also has it. Just order it by the case.....about $70.00.
  22. Everything was working fine on my 70 Z, until we were taking it off the dyno the other day. Now, the rear tail lights don't work when the headlight switch is activated, brake lights don't work when I hit the brakes, but the front parking lights and instrument lights come on when I hit the brakes!! I would appreciate any ideas you guys might suggest. Thanks Guy
  23. I agree.....Remember the P79 is shaved .080.....Would the W53 look the same if shaved?
  24. Carl....Yes the P90 and P79 are identical except for exhaust ports and liners in the P79.They boast the best quench of all the heads and according to Doc, allow a better "burn". I believe that they are referred to as the "peanut heads". Guy
