jtmader Posted September 24, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 24, 2009 I just happened to see that a 1973 240Z will be part of the Barrett Jackson auction coming up in Las Vegas. The auction goes from 10/7 to 10/10/09 and the Z will be auctioned on 10/9. It's in lot#319. You will see it if you go to their website. I believe the Speed channel is covering the event. I think it will be VERY interesting to see what it goes for. Any guesses? JTMader

BenJammin Posted September 25, 2009 Share #3 Posted September 25, 2009 Haven't seen a Barrett J auction in awhile, but they used to get pretty crazy.I'll go higher and say between $25k - $30K
Travel'n Man Posted September 25, 2009 Share #4 Posted September 25, 2009 (edited) David-I can do $15K standing on my head.........I have to agree with Ben on this one. Hell - I hope it goes for more. Our cars are worth more if we have taken care of them!! At a point all of us have to agree to STOP SELLING THESE CARS SO CHEAP AND GET THE MARKET UP!!$15K would be an embarassment to all of us that have spent any money at all, and if this car is rolling through Barrett-Jackson it would have to be in great shape - they do not show and sell 2nd rate cars very often that I have ever seen Edited September 25, 2009 by Travel'n Man EDIT
260zCaliCar Posted September 25, 2009 Share #5 Posted September 25, 2009 I'm really bad, but I can't resist... After reading the other thread (and I guess being a bit of a participant) http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35981 I gotta wonder if the car being auctioned has been painted? :paranoid: My guess? $25,000 if original paint... $15,000 if new paint but original color... $10,000 if there has been a color change... and finally $1,250 if it's a new paint job with a color change, no documentation of the paint process, and a magnet won't stick to a door. ROFL (I'm assuming it's a matching numbers Z of course...) Like I said, just having fun at my own expense
TriDawgn Posted September 25, 2009 Share #6 Posted September 25, 2009 I know theres a lot more to it but from what the pictures show it looks like a damn clean car. Heres the link to the car on the auction site:http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/onlinesubmission/lotdetails.aspx?ln=319&aid=303&pop=
Pleiner87 Posted September 25, 2009 Share #7 Posted September 25, 2009 From what the ad shows its a one owner 73 240 with 71,000 miles with documentation. It does not say repaint but the orange looks too good to be all original... All in all a clean looking car with out any mods (does have 5-slot mags and ansa exaust). If this were a 69 or 70 I could see the bids counting up, but a 73... maybe in the mid 20,000???
Mike B Posted September 25, 2009 Share #8 Posted September 25, 2009 (edited) $25K to $30k for a 1973 with 71,000 miles? I doubt it, especially in this economy. I don't think Barrett Jackson is the right place to sell a Z or any other Japanese car yet. My guess is $12K to $15K tops. There was a 74 260Z with 19,000 miles that sold at a Mecum auction earlier this year for $15K, and then was auctioned by Mecum again a few months later and it was also bid up to $15K, but didn't meet the reserve http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35241. For reference, here is the information for the 1973 being auctioned in Oct, and for the last five Z's sold at Barret Jackson.http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/onlinesubmission/lotdetails.aspx?aid=303&ln=319&pop=0&it=1http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/onlinesubmission/lotdetails.aspx?aid=243&ln=906.1&pop=0&it=1http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/onlinesubmission/lotdetails.aspx?aid=221&ln=325&pop=0&it=1http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/onlinesubmission/lotdetails.aspx?aid=54&ln=309&pop=0&it=1http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/onlinesubmission/lotdetails.aspx?aid=51&ln=408&pop=0&it=1http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/onlinesubmission/lotdetails.aspx?aid=51&ln=617&pop=0&it=1-Mike Edited September 25, 2009 by Mike B
Montezuma Posted September 25, 2009 Share #9 Posted September 25, 2009 I am using the crappy economy as one of my reasons for my $15K guess, plus the year of the car, plus the Mecum result.
Diseazd Posted September 25, 2009 Share #10 Posted September 25, 2009 Remember......At B/J the seller pays 10% as does the buyer.
Zedyone_kenobi Posted September 25, 2009 Share #11 Posted September 25, 2009 its a clean Z, looks like the dealer added every possible extra. Still 73, with the flat top carbs, not sure. I think mid teens is pretty realistic. BJ is a very muscle car crowd. But I could be completely wrong.
jtmader Posted September 25, 2009 Author Share #12 Posted September 25, 2009 Personally I would need to see pictures of the engine bay. Maybe it's been converted to the round tops? Maybe there are some mod's under there....etc..... I am going to hazard a guess at $14,000. Where have I seen this car before? It looks VERY familar.
