  1. Took me at least a couple hours of rearranging & moving some stuff to the basement, but I made room & got the Z inside. Still have the V8 drivetrain sitting in between the two cars Made sure I could actually lock the garage doors... Ended up leaving it out though - I decided that since I was going to be away for a week, now was a good time to patch the broken concrete floor (from the roots of the very large pine tree on my neighbor's lot, that is now gone). That can set all week now without any floor traffic. Still a mess, but at least closer to level it was difficult to roll carts or the bench over that patch during to the rise/drop. I broke up the loose pieces so that I had a good 4" or so of depth, then used a mortar mix to feather it to the old surface, after cleaning with acid.
  2. Yeah, get the parts you need and pull that engine apart.. very interesting to see what the problem is.. Although the compression looks good it could be some broken rings on your No: 4 piston or something like that.. Can't wait for the pictures! I would have taken it apart years ago.. just start to do it, you learn A LOT! And... ASK if you don't know exactly how to do something like opening up a engine! And remember, pictures can tell more than a 1000 words so put a pic with your questions! I ones had to open up a 300zx engine, it was a non turbo z32.. my dealer told me YOU CAN'T DO THAT! I told him "you don't know what i CAN! I brought it to the dealer because i had an accident at work and was very ill.. then the dealer wrecked the engine by making a "testride" It had a timingbeld problem.. I took it apart AT THE DEALER and repaired it all,It costed me 1600-2000 guilders. (Then about 1000 dollars..) This was in 2001... the car is still on the road today!!
  3. I worked on the second quarter window some today. This is the remnants of one of the corner seals. The old glass seal was crispy I also got the proper bolts into the axle adapters The stub axle side is 17mm 10.9's and the differential side are 22mm 10.9s. You can see in this picture the difference in length I have the quarter windows most of the way done today.

    Pretty close....
  5. Agreed, that pic was from Hybrids. The first was a JDM site selling the seal. It does not look like the cutaway part is as tall on the replacement piece. Placing it over the gap seems like it would be more useful, than starting at the gap.
  6. Gotta Love this Forum!!
  7. Yes! So I guess the second picture is probably the more correct where it laps up onto the window frame?
  8. Thank you gentlemen, that did the trick, working perfectly now.
  9. These small square seals?
  10. It isn't too bad of a job. When I was young we used to a few pieces of heater hoses to hold the chain in place! Take your time and dont forget the two front bolts on the head. I hope you find something wrong πŸ™‚
  11. Time to pull that head off where you can see what is going on IMHO.

Hmmm.. Neve thought of that. I’m not sure you can access the three trim ring screws from the front. There are two little gaps where you can reach the aiming screws. I’m going out for a look! Ok, took a look. There isn’t any way to get at the three screws from the front.
  13. How's that for a coincidence? The smudged date is, in fact, March 29th. 30 years ago today. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the most expensive 240Z sold in Canada at that point! Most of them were already wrecks by 1994 (this one had just arrived from Georgia), and I don't think many people were restoring them yet. Shockingly, it was appraised at $10k, though I don't think anyone would have paid that for it back then!
  14. Brain fade. I've spent the last week working on my brother's 31 Model A Hot Rod with a 350 Chevy in it.
