Blessed be the parts hoarders for they shall provide the used parts to keep our Zs alive.

Well zKars was kind enough to send me what he had and I was to get one of them to kind of work, so I'll be installing that one. It never did completely close off but did reduce flow thru the valve. Maybe that's the way it's supposed to work. It took a temperature higher than 175 degrees F to change state, but it is what it is. Hopefully performance won't be too greatly affected.

Probably just me, but when I see the 240 dash, I see this:

A hillbilly way to make it airtight is.. clean it.. (degrease it) then a little drop of oil but only on the middle part. then a blob of silicone or malleable glue over it. When the glue is dried open the valve by hand a few times. Leak fixed.. but this workes only on that side of the carb .. 😢

There's always a way to not get things done. It was a concept idea. You could poke around in the port hole too. Ponder why the gauge needle would move so rapidly when it's just sitting there on the small channel to the oil filter, which is like a big buffer pool of oil. Anyway, just offering ideas about what I would do. I really hate how Google or eBay or whoever adds so much extra crap to eBay and Amazon links. Probably contains all of my recent browsing history, in code. Here's a picture instead.

The dash cover supplier agreed to take care of the issue and I just mailed the 240z leather cover back to them in the UK. Hopefully, they will send the right one now. The door card covers and center console covers from them worked out well. Captain Obvious: Yes, you are correct, it is just you. SteveJ: Your second picture looks like my dash, except I ran the wires behind the dash ; )
