  1. Got the ultra hd box from xfinity today, wired up and WOW! Been looking at a 42" since 2009 with the lower hd settings, this blows it away. I think I can smell Lume girls funky body smells. Probably just need to clean house or wash the dog?

    The '46 6 23' date stamp translates to 23rd June 1971. '46' = 46th year of Showa = 1971 (First year of Emperor Showa's reign was 1925). '6' = Month of June. '23' = 23rd day of the month.
  3. Now Jeff Beck is gone. One of my favorite songs.
  4. Kind of a corny song but definitely funny. I have the album and also their Twisted Laurel album and really like them both. Wife hates both of them, what can I say?
  5. Hi, just a reminder of the difference between the two of interior trim panel. The Blue one is an early type which has a small box for the plastic tank. The black one is a later type which has a larger box for the metal tank. If you put a metal tank into an early car, the trim panel would not fit properly. Kats
  6. Maybe i was not clear about my solution.. don't know.. but a euro version has NO evap-TANK at all!! Simply connect the end of tank exit to the filler opening's neck and close all the others i guess.. i did.. don't know..long time ago.. (i do have a usa calif. car 240z)
  7. Charles, Yes that is what I called the clamp strips. CanTechZ's post shows it quite well.
  8. Ok, getting back to you on my metal tank in my 6/71 240z: Overall view of "as installed" orientation, front bottom, back bottom: rear mounting tab detail, top front, date stamped on the tank... I don't know how to read that, maybe @KatZ can tell us? The mounting location in my 6/1971 car:
  9. I wonder if the car belongs to the Bubble Boy from Seinfeld.
  10. Here is a link to the post I made on my build thread about removal of these items. I plan to use it remind me about how to reinstall this trim, ie steps in reverse. I was lucky that mine reusable. Hopefully it might help.
  11. I taped mine down to some cardboard material to make a pattern. Lay them out in the sun or use a heat gun to get them to lay flat. Do you have the clamp strips that go around the headliner? I can get you some pictures if you need to see what they look like.
  12. Charles, Its been quite a few years but as best as I can recall I used either a 5/8" or 3/4" wide closed cell weatherstrip on both the edge of the splashguards and the bulkhead at the back of the fenders where it butts up against the A-pillar. This stuff is self-adhesive, usually available at most auto supply stores. Jim
  13. Lume. Here is my perspective on body odor. Over the years I have had some pretty nasty funk. Usually after drinking heavily, and back when I smoked cigarettes. It has also been an observation that some foods also lend a bit to the stink that emanated from my sweat glands. A number of things have resulted in little to no offensive body odor for me. I rarely consume alcohol these days, and when I do, it is with moderation. I quit smoking about 30 years ago. A more natural, whole food diet, including lots of onion and garlic. Of course a daily regimen of a thorough scrubbing with soap, and complete drying of the entire body, is crucial for keeping the bacteria on the skin held in check. After all, it is that pesky Carl guy who is still lurking about in those thigh folds, armpits, between the toes and on the ballsack. I haven’t used deodorant or antiperspirant in over twenty years. Don’t need to.
  14. Hello from across the pond. Someone in the UK forum asked the question: is the 280z auto trans the same as one in the 240z? Given the years and myriad differences between the models I can’t imagine that to be the case. I can well imagine internal differences like ratios etc but what of physical dimensions? The 280z wasn’t for the UK market and we are “mostly” a manual loving nation - so the question may be better answered here with greater experience. Why am I asking? Pure curiosity and for the learning / building my own knowledge bank! Anyone replaced a 240z auto ‘box with a 280 one and has any thoughts /advice / or even a write up on this? I can’t seem to find anything on Google! It keeps pointing me to swapping out an auto for an MT. Thanks in advance and apologies if it’s a dumb question written with blurry eyes while having insomnia!

Marty here are a few pics of the unit installed. The one pic shows two cables. These come from the back of the unit and are for a USB input, the other is for an MP3 input. The USB is a short cable and MP3 is a female jack. I had to buy longer cables to come from the back of the unit to the consul area for easier access. The pic showing the small hole below the volume control is an internal mic for hands free operation. Ralph, the guy who did my upgrade, installed this at no cost. Not sure if other authorized installers do the same. The upgrade does come with wired mic that plugs into a jack at the rear, then you can run the wire wherever you want. I believe it has 6 or 10 ft length.
  16. I actually reached out to Philip a couple of years ago on Linkedin when I had not heard from him in a while. I think @Captain Obvious may have talked on the phone with him, too. I know I miss his presence here, and I really appreciate the fact that he went out of his way to come up to my place when he was in town and showed me a lot about adjusting valves and tuning SUs. I hope he's enjoying his guitars. I'm sure he's doing creative things with them.
  17. Last I heard he was now into vintage guitars. He's going full blast on whatever he does. He brought me closer to the s30 than anyone or anything else, mostly. Can't say enough good things about him. He was so kind to my country bumpkin personality unlike the other dicks on zcar and told me about classiczcars.com. God bless him.
  18. Internet does not forget, and we never throw away parts 😬
