  1. No, there wasn`t a cover for the signal hole but it would be easy to make a rectangular strip of rubber sheet, punch a hole in the center, slip it over the signal rod and tuck the rubber inside. Just make sure that it is long enough so you don`t see the ends with the signal engaged.
  2. Attached are a couple of images of a NOS caliper I have. Also attached is a scanned page from a Datsun 260Z brochure (UK issue), illustrating the front hub, and caliper. As far as I can see the brochure is undated, but the car on the front has an "M" suffix, indicating it was registered between August 1973 and July 1974 (also 1974 is mentioned in the brochure text).
  3. rama says... its a cardinal sin dont do it.
  4. Go with the Aisin WPN013, cast impeller, its a very good pump. Its available from Rock Auto or Amazon. About $25
  5. Cliff, once again you saved me a bunch of time. I just ordered those bulbs for the gauges. So much work….so little time.
  6. A trick I do is hold the shoes together whith the springs then put them in the cylyder's slot and push them on. Hold them in place until you get the heads on the pins if that makes sense. Good luck.
  7. I would see if you can rent a pressure tester. Pump the radiator up to about 15#s and use a flashlight to try to find the leak. It could be as easy as a loose hose clamp...
  8. This weekend I started refurbishing the driver's seat of my 280Z. Did the passenger seat last week (leather covers and new foam from Interior Innovations). Aside from a small crack in the seat back sheet metal (which I tried to reinforce with fiberglass), the passenger seat was fairly straightforward - cleaning everything up from previous owner's work took more time than actually fitting the foam and covers. The driver's seat is a bit more challenging because one of the metal rods on seat bottom that the hog rings attach to was cut off. I've made a new one and a friend of a friend will weld it on this coming weekend.
  9. Yes i will find out about this. My engine block is E88. I also took some pictures where you can have a glimpse of the heat shield, phenolic spacers and heat shield extension for your reference. No bubbles at the fuel filter.
  10. Indeed the early oil pans are different; the drain plug location and a 'reinforcement' plate on the side of the pan. I am not aware of any capacity differences. My service manual lists engine oil capacity of 5 liters or 1.3 US gallons. My parts manual list a part number change around 5/71.
  11. Got a day to work on the Z today. Trying to get the interior squared away…..long time coming. I’ve been putting in sound proofing. Also cut and fit the vinyl for wall behind seats. I like it! It’s not sitting flat yet because it isn’t glued yet. Side note, I went to my local grocery store yesterday and a S30 turned in right before me. I was like….what!!!! I followed the guy and we ending up having a 30 min conversation in the parking lot. He has a 77 280z and is the original owner. He’s also a pilot and been retire for some time. I then find out he lives in my same small town less that 3 miles away. He said he got a treasure trove of parts. 3 engines, transmissions…on and on. Here is a pic of his car I took yesterday. His name was Bernie Culp(said he’s been a a ZCON a few years back). ….nice guy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Yes!.. the best pump, not that cheap sheet metal impeller.
  13. Yes, but in the corvette there is room for a big radiator and it was made for it.. this is not the case with the old datsuns.. Okay i was a bit harsh on the alu radiator, but i get a bit angry of the fact that they are praised to be such good (Chinese made) rad's and they are junk.. a good radiator for €169 is junk.. I use a copper original in my 240z and it's in there for decades..
