  1. Well the system is designed to reward the dishonest. There are things we could do to change it but since the people in there make the rules they’d never vote to implement the things to change the system. 1. 2 term limits for Senate and 4 term limits for congressmen, that makes 12 yrs for Senate and 8 for the house. 2. campaign donation limits to $1000 from an person, pac or company. 3, Any corruption charges met with 30 year sentences..... unconditional. People in these positions have to be held to incredibly high ethical standards. The only other option is torches and pitch forks from the people and demand change.
  2. Oh for heaven’s sake. 1. TC rods will be Techno toy tuning adjustable ones to gain the extra length. I just lengthened a pair of stock one so we can move the car around until the new ones show which might be a while given Xmas and shipping delays. Just cut a pair of stock ones in half and add a 5/8 ID tube welded over with about 2” overlap. 2. Sway bar mount is now a 1/2” thick 1.5x4” bar, with a pair of recessed holes to mount the bar to the stock in-frame captured nuts, then two holes 1” further forward, threaded, to accept the sway bar U-clamps in their new position. 3. Drill one new hole in the frame rail 1” forward of the rear existing hole, and drill one new hole in the K member 1” BACK of it’s front hole. Drill matching holes in the two re-enforcing plates top and bottom, actually shorten the top one by 1” since its that skinny thing. Re-apply K member to frame rail with stock bolts in new holes. New bolts are 1” closer together, K member is 1” forward. Fill abandoned rear frame rail hole with bubble gum. Juicy Fruit of course. 4. Re-insert engine and put the drive shaft, that how fits, back on. Done. 5. No wait. My fancy shortened/offset trans mount is now all wrong, get his original one and just cut a bit off the ends to get it fit in the skinnier tunnel, and drill two new holes closer together to fit the mount holes. Now done. Yes the next owner will have questions, but the current owner is likely to keep it for another 30 years. He is happy to have Caster adjustment he didn’t have before.
  3. My 4 poster is a LiftKing, out of Calgary, Alberta. I'm sure it is just a rebrand of another make. I love it, but as has been previously stated - take really good measurements and have a ladder handy the first time you lift the car, so you can make really sure you're not hitting the ceiling.
  4. Here is a perfect example of how bad our leaders in Congress are and why they all need to fired. We have families suffering, business closing in record numbers (110,000) family owned restaurants in the US . There are people about to lose their homes and jobs because of this pandemic. So what do the American citizens get, so they can feed their family and pay their bills....$600. All while the bill sends hundreds of millions of $$ to foreign countries for things nothing related to the pandemic. Look at a short list below. We’re sending $10 million for gender studies in Pakistan but if your an American family about to lose your house you get $600. Funding for these other initiatives should voted on independently not by stuffing them in the Covid relief bill, this a form a blackmail and business as usual in the swamp. We are pathetic.
  5. Cody made a puller today. The OTC bearing splitter has 5/8-18 threaded holes. I went by our local fastener supply and got a section of hardened rod and some nuts and washer and a piece of flat stock from Depot. It will pull to 20"s depth... We used a center arbor from another puller that was 5/8-18 too.
  6. Jimmy Carter was an anti politician. A gentleman. The world needs more leaders like him.
  7. The length of the wires suggests that they are connected correctly though. The positive connection is farthest away. Hope there's no damage. Your battery is actually what's flipped, which is how you got in to this mess. Positive typically is under the fender edge. More Nissan genius.
  8. At least some good is coming from the omnibus bill. "The federal government would be required to set up a program aimed at eradicating the murder hornet.." https://www.yahoo.com/news/fine-print-5-593-page-130020410.html
  9. Your battery cables are probably swapped. Again, the way to confirm is to measure voltage from the positive terminal of the battery to the body and from the negative terminal of the battery to the body. If the battery is connected properly, you should see 12VDC from the positive battery terminal to the body and zero from the negative battery terminal to the body. Nothing good ever comes from crossing the streams...
  10. CNN has a documentary on him January 3rd. I've got it set to record. 'Jimmy Carter 'Rock and Roll President'.
  11. This is so messed up. Just when I thought our elected officials could do no poorer a job than they already do they lower the bar seven more notches. I want a refund.
  12. Update....I have brakes!!! Short story, I managed to get the Z up to the local Z shop and get some help. There were a couple things working against me, there was still some air in the master cylinder that I had not managed to get out and probably much more impactful was that the rear wheel cylinders were not adjusted out far enough to properly engage the drums. As he explained, if the shoes are not making proper contact with the drums then there is no pressure in the system and thus bleeding cannot happen...once explained it was like a DOH! moment as it made perfect sense. 😉 So it is back in my garage now and ready to move on to the next part of the project. Yipee!!
  13. Better yet, look at the EE section of the FSM. If you have an original points-style VR, the procedure starts on EE-23. Keep in mind that the voltage is dependent upon engine speed and ambient temperature. The chart in the FSM is for 2500RPM. You said the voltage was 14.45 @ 2000 RPM. Given that the temperature was probably between 50 and 60, I will repeat that I don't see a problem. With only the engine running, you're not pulling much current aside from topping the battery back off and firing the ignition. Swap the brake lights and turn signals to LEDs, and you probably won't see the ammeter needle move much of any time.
  14. Simmering septic tank. Sometimes you have to add scum killer.
  15. The larger of the two. The black and white one is a bald faced hornet. I've been encountering them ever since I was a boy in the mid 60's hiking around Whidbey Island. Dwarfed by the Murder Hornet. These things hitchhiked from the Orient, I believe, to the Pacific Northwet, and are threatening indigenous bees and wasps, as well as threatening public health, as their sting can pack a punch. These things are huge.
  16. Is that a wrestler or something, The Murder Hornet?
  17. Unfortunately you could be right. It's awful when someone starts "fixing" the wiring without knowing how to read a wiring diagram.
  18. Is your battery connected backward? I can't tell where the cable goes at the circle I drew (weird how pictures are always fuzzy in the area that matters). Not sure how the starter can work backward but maybe it can. It's a DC motor and solenoids are just magnetic coils. I wonder if your engine is spinning backward. That would be a new one, never heard of it happening. The positive cable should be connected to the solenoid, the small cylinder on the starter motor. The negative cable should be connected to the starter mounting bolt.
  19. bridge jacks Just like Captain Obvious...................
  20. Have to agree, this does seem odd. Will this be a major surprise for some future owner? Will the BAT crowd be tearing up the comments area? Can't wait for the new member to show up. "My TC rods look strange..."
  21. If you get in to the VR and find that you're maxed out here is an option to consider. Get an external voltage regulator that goes to 11.
  22. Jimmy Carter once said there should be one single six year term for the President. He stated that in the current system the President is learning the job the first year, doing the job for the next two years, and running for re-election the final year. We don't get our money's worth.
  23. There is a pair of adjustable points inside the cover. Back in the mid seventies I began to be concerned with a dip in the voltmeter at idle. Armed with no volt meter, little knowledge, and a repair manual, I pulled the cover off and adjusted one set of points. Don't remember which set and I don't remember if I opened it or closed it but it worked. Try Googling "Datsun voltage regulator adjustment".
  24. Another view of the rear spoiler on the AC A98 Coupe. It's a bolt-on job:
  25. Compare Congress to a good pot of simmering stock. Every now and then you have to remove the scum that forms on top. There's some good under it.
  26. Well I'll always remember you guys no matter how rich and famous.
  27. We could start with getting rid or severely modifying the two National Security Acts (Truman, Reagan) that allow Washington to hide all the skulduggery and worse that routinely goes on behind the scenes and eliminate that ridiculous law that states that corporations are the same as a human being. Then we could "follow the money" and get rid of K Street and the lobbyists. No need to try to sort out who needs to go. If we get the corporate money out of Congress, the Narcissists will follow it right out the door.
  28. It’s mostly filled with immoral people but that’s not a reason to give up on our system. We can get positive outcomes out of Washington but the people need to hold them accountable. The media isn’t helping on that front. I’d only go because I’d rather be part of a broken system than sit on the sidelines and complain how the sausage is made. I’d wait until the kids are out of the house and I have nothing else better to do. I’ll work in some capacity until the day I die because the alternative will kill you faster. When I see these clowns we have in Congress I say to myself “wow, we can’t do better than this moron”. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  29. Stroker update!! Final assembly and paint
  30. Okay, here is what I'm taking to Zfest, spent the past couple of days compound buffing wet sanding scratches out of it and installing the bumpers. There is still a few things to do but there will only be a few guys there at the show that will notice.
  31. Here is a page I found that might help, along with the rest of the site. Datsun 240Z/260Z/280Z Car Heater (From Aug.-'73) Bonzi Lon
