  1. A dream came true, again. I acquired a second Datsun 240Z. At the end I couldn’t resist any longer and had to buy this yellow beauty from my best mate!So back in December 2019 my mate Yves decided to sell his series 1, what a bad decision. I hesitated to long, and it was pretty much sold. But as there was a mishap with the buyer, I’ve been given a second chance and now it’s mine. Couldn’t be any happier. So here it is how I bought it: Cool story, back in 2004 (or was it 2005) this particular car was my first real encounter with a 240Z. I knew since my first 350Z ownership in 2003 that I would love to own a 240Z, but as they aren't really common here in Europe this yellow and a purple one which was parked just next to it where the first S30 I really laid my eyes on. Even took 3 picture of it back then, so here is one of them. And yes it's 100% the same car my best buddy bought about 13-14 years later. 1970 series 1 240Z, 4-speed, originally in universal blue, but refinished 30+ years ago in yellow. Still has its original engine. Was mounted with triple Webers when I bought it. Original owner’s manual, 30 years of history documents,… Missing just a few series 1 details like the fan, radiator,… As for the owner history of this car I did a bit of research: 2020-infinity: Mine 2017-2020: Yves M. (Luxembourg-Europe) 1999-2017 : Gilles K. (Luxembourg-Europe) 1989-1999 : Hans-Juergen Boeling (Hamburg/Germany-Europe) this P.O. imported the car from the USA. He did a resto and decided on the colour. It’s RAL1028 Melon Yellow. Succesfully contacted, nice old guy, creator of his own sports car brand: Interclassic Cinco Z 1970-????: Original owner. Mr Theodore/Ted G Alexander from Phoenix AZ (would love to have his contact details to complete the cars history) But why a second S30? Why not ? I always wanted to build my personal dream car from the ground up. So this will be a nut&bolt resto, I can/will do everything myself exept for the bodywork. It will get a serie 1 color. Not 100% decided yet, but most probably 907 racing green, if not it will be safari yellow. It won’t be a purist or concours car, I love driving these cars to much. So just as my blue one it will have some upgrades like seats, suspension, swaybars, drivetrain, wheel&tires. Nothing crazy! And while this project is happening I will still be able to enjoy 240Z driving in my blue 73. From our annual trip through the alps. Been 3 times, it's always a 4-5 days roadtrip with friends. Approx 1600miles an +20 alp passes per trip More to follow soon.
  2. Bump - Just did the KIA door seal on hatch and both doors on my 72' 240z. Very nice looking and closes easily with 1 finger push.

"Some states are doing well. Some states are doing less well." From yesterday's virus briefing from POtuS.
  4. It isn't. For the quality of your restoration this won't do. Weld it up or find an original unaltered tank. The long board coupled with repeated taping of the line and working both above and below the tape is how my painter established the line on Zilver.

FINALLY! Orange paint. This is great to see. Parts are ready to install as soon as she arrives at my place. Still probably going to be a few weeks. Needs final body paint and color sand and polish.
  6. Submit 100 photos to Bring a Trailer. Their reserve suggestion might shock you.
  7. Thanks Jim, one of your answers is better than 10 from many others .... Here is the work in progress on vin 19270

  9. I believe the scaffolding is another name for the towel racks which is another name for the over-riders on the bumper.
  10. As usual, progress is slow but steady. So this week something arrived which i've ordered over two months ago, but was delayed due to COVID-19. I mainly bought it because it had a slight water-damage and was almost for free. and it's still nice enough to work with in the workshop. Just another piece of documentation ready. Looking forward to get back into the project soon.
  11. I agree, @Mike hint hint
  12. You could bead blast them and spray a clear coat but I think wet or vapor blasting would bring them out very nicely. Wet blasting doesn't remove any detail from the lettering and leaves a soft shine whereas straight bead blasting will soften the edges of the detail.
  14. So I got my 12si alternator and didn’t have my mount modified yet , so I did the sketchy mount where you flip the clocking . The beauty is that it bolts right up with one spacer , flipping the adjuster bracket and a longer 8x1.25 bolt . Sucker charged right from idle , which I read might not happen . Might be the way I wired it , but it’s still a one wire set up basically . Drove it around and it showed 14.5 volts pretty consistently with electric fan and all my other goodies . Haven’t driven at night , but will try that tonight . I did get the proper mount modified , so about to try it . I’ll be watching for drains on the battery .
  15. 18 Jan 2012 - Epilog My former 240Z was picked up by the transport company on 31 October 2011. It was crated and staged in Long Beach, California until 30 November 2011, when it sailed for Norway. It was unloaded in Oslo on 9 January 2012, and picked up by its new owner on 11 January 2012. Congratulations, Terje! You've got a nice car, and I'm confident that it will lead a pampered life from here on.
  16. A stiff long board should take care of those soft areas.

Got parts back from the plating shop. They always do very nice work.
