  1. Wait to you see that same photo with all the gas lines installed, very sharp. Mark, that's your cue?
  2. This is the coolest sound check I've ever heard. He looks like a walking bag of cocaine.
  3. I called them some time ago and asked about it. The guy said the ones they had have a dark band of tint across the top - not what was pictured. I called them just now and the guy said they are completely tinted all the way through - same shade - of "blue". Aren't the factory ones green? He also said they are made in the UK, they have none in stock and no eta. He hinted as some issues with the agreement with the supplier needing to be resolved. He also guessed at the name of the manufacturer and I deduced that it is Pilkington.
  4. A light oiling of steel parts (lids, hardware, and linkage) and place in a bag. Keep indoors at room temperature.
  5. @motorman7 My experience has been that NOS emissions parts for the 73/74Z are among the most difficult to find. You've probably thought of this, but, the Aussie's had the 260z for several more years (till 78??) than us in the U.S. and many of the parts are the same. I was thrilled to find a NOS EGR assembly from there for my 73 Zilver. Actually, as I got further into the restoration, parts came from all around the world (Kuwait, Turkey, Greece) { @Patcon } You "might could did up" a contact to @Gav240z and enlist his help in finding a few of the items you need.
  6. The thermostat housing changed many times over the years. The early ones only have one small bung on the front and none on the side.
  7. Yeah, I think going to a newer computer based EFI system is the best choice for what you're putting together. Do you think it would be deeper as well?
  8. Please don't google that....
  9. Whoa, Santa was good to you, water based cleaners are great but meant to be used in a warm shop but you can still get good results with W&G remover and then methyl hydrate(wood alcohol) These pics are part of a long term project I'm playing with but they illustrate really clearly how much crap is on metal and why it is so easy to have problems with primer and paint. This a sheet of 20ga metal straight from the warehouse, the same square of metal was cleaned 3 times with that same cleaner until the cloth was coming away clean before moving on to the next cleaner, these pics are just the 1st wipe of 3. The cleaner used is listed under the pic. W&G remover Water based cleaner, Methyl Hydrate Sanded with 80 grit then W&G remover Water based cleaner Methyl Hydrate So you can see each one removes stuff the others can not remove. Methyl Hydrate flashes off the fastest of all of them that's why I always leave it as the last one before priming.
  10. "The nail that stands-up......GETS POUNDED DOWN" Communism 101 .... all of my Chinese colleagues said this.
  11. No problem at all. It really helps to have a second set of eyes looking things over. With so many parts and all, it is easy to miss things. And yes, definitely a few more smog items on the US '73 and 74 Z's. Would be nice if there was a place to pick up some of these smog items new/NOS.
  12. I wouldn't necessarily call it a "rust bucket". I've seen a lot, lot, LOT worse and it is still eminently restoreable. It has rust in the floors for sure, but it still looks structurally sound and relatively good in some areas. I'm currently rebuilding something that started out far worse. Certainly wouldn't frighten off anyone who is used to serious repair. That tow bar and fender mirror/door mirror combo will elicit some throwaway lines from the peanut gallery, but this car looks like it could be a bit of a diamond-in-the rough to me. The asking price may well be a little high (probably a good strategy for the vendor), but what do you value it at? I would be willing to bet that it sells for more than your valuation. Let's hear it. Here's a current market reference point for you: https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/g317504338?fbclid=IwAR2i0nT_GnctmANNPj4kbi65FzHPxYZzAPCdMjw150LGMIV1426zIwZxjtg
  13. As a Scarab owner I can confirm that we do have secret handshakes? No - as mentioned earlier in this topic, a book about Scarab Engineering and some of the remaining cars, will be published in 2019. There’s many myths about Scarab and Mr Morrow, and it’s not many cars left, so we are indeed a exclusive group.
  14. $25 for 19x13 https://www.uniquecarposters.com/datsun-240z-and-nissan-fairlady-z-car-model-chart-
  15. It's out there! I'll find it somehow. Almost as cool as the coffee cup Jim and Jim gave me for Christmas.
  16. Thanks so much for the reply! The drums are off after a little torch work. When attempting to bleed the left rear I broke off the bleeder stem so I figured I'd be replacing the wheel cylinders. When I saw the price of the 71 vs 73 wheel cylinders and then compared them visually I hoped there was a way to make the swap! The 4X price of the early cylinder is ridiculous.
