3 pointsThat blue was manufacturer Tsuchiya's 'house' colour for Nissan product. When parts were supplied as OEM replacement - as opposed to when attached to a new car - they were supplied in Tsuchiya house blue. Happened on other models than S30-series Z cars too. Some Nissans had the Tsuchiya blue as stock equipment, so less impact in those cases.3 points

2 pointsGents, I just realized that I didn't close this issue out and I should have. After talking to him, I sent the turn signal switch assembly up to Zs-ondabrain. He had the switch back in the mail the same day (total turnaround including shipping both ways was less than a week!) and my problem is solved! I had my kid install the switch and everything works perfectly. I NEVER would have come up with this solution on my own, so I really appreciate all of your great troubleshooting advice, and especially Dave for his skill and great customer service. And on a side note, I want to express how grateful I am that buying this car (and being involved in this forum) is giving me a way to both learn and to teach my son how to work on things himself. I'm a handy guy but have very limited auto mechanical experience. We live in a neighborhood where few of my son's classmates could find the spare tire - and NONE of them could change it, let alone do the other jobs he has learned to do. So great to see a kid turning wrenches - not just punching keyboard or video game controller buttons!2 points

1 pointMy car had this on it when I bought it in 1985. I have never seen another Z with one on it. I have heard that this was a warranty replacement one, but if it was, why wouldn't it had been orange? I know they switched at some time to this blue for all their air cleaners, but wouldn't they have stopped producing this by then?

Hi Guys, 1972, 240z, has a local shop install brand new KYB (basic struts and shocks) , new eibach progressive springs, new Nissan top mounts, new Nissan front bearing, new Urantha bump stops. The springs are installed correctly( check the part numbers 3 times, the front and back is correct) . But as soon as i picked up the car, I felt like it’s way to bumpy ( owned 2 other 240z in the past) this is maybe the worst ride? The worst part is that the front springs looks bent!! At first I thought it was because the the top of the springs is not seated correctly, but after I jacked the car up, wiggle it around, it’s sitting on the very top. Everything seems bolted on correctly, but front shock and spring doesn’t look Centered and spring looks Very bent, especially when it’s on the floor. Please help!!!!

1 pointEveryone I spoke to basically said they were too far gone. Being made of magnesium there isn't a whole lot you can do to make them viable again. Better off as a garden hose reel. ? Also the person selling them had an unrealistic price expectation considering their condition. Might even still have them.1 point

So far no leaks. Pulled a vacuum for 30 minutes, then I let it sit for 1 hour, no loss of vacuum. I then pulled a vacuum for another hour. Then begin filling. I ended up doing r134a, because compressor is setup for it. Also my buddy that is a tech told me to do that as well. I first overfilled the system, I was using a 5 gallon jug of 134, and it moved faster than I would have guessed. Now while running with a bumped idle and 60 degrees outside temp,I have about 19- 22 or so on the low side psi, and 145-155 on the high side. Which is in the chart for R134a. The system only has one sight glass, and it's kind of crappy. My tech buddy said to try it on a hot day going 60 next. The system was working well and pushing 42-44 degree air out of the vents! They felt much cooler then that though.1 point

1 pointThere was a member in Europe who was going to give a pair to his GF for modeling. But, that never transpired. My GF at the time (remember Racegirl?) modeled hats and Tshirts, but, no panties on camera. I saw them, but, wasn't allowed to take pictures.

1 pointCase in point: My 432 type airbox was supplied as a replacement part via Nissan, in the Tsuchiya house blue. If it had been fitted on a 432 ex-factory, it would have been a particular shade of red.1 point

Hi , Here is another kind Z friend , Mike B gave me this wheel nut wrench which is the best combination for 01/ 1970 Z432. It has only a Nissan hamburger , and simply showing an alphabet “ I “ . My 03/1970 240 Z has the same wrench and it has “ J “ on it. And a teeth for the removing hub cap is pointing different, early one is facing same direction as the nut socket . I think later one has like this , “ NISSAN ( NISSAN hamburger ) MOTOR “ My 06/1972 240ZG has “27 “ on it , what does this numbers mean ? And Mike rent me tools contents papers , early one has colored Nissan hamburger !! I have never seen it before . I will make replica of them for Datsun 240 Z and Fairlady Z , and Z432 . They are different each other due to tools line up . Thanks Mike B !! Kats

I remember the day when we were also doing those cheap shirts from a company on the Internet. The best projects were the real silk screened shirts and the embroidered hats like the one you've got. 1 pointI had to deal with Chinese steel products for around two decades. We normally bought steel wire from Tree Island Steel in Richmond, Canada and the quality was always excellent. Then about once a year the current knot head in corporate purchasing would buy a few hundred tons of Chinese wire at a discount and distribute the wire to the manufacturing branches with no prior notice. Surprise! Production plummeted when we tried to use the Chinese wire. The inconsistency was beyond belief. I was not popular with Corporate when I sent it back year after year. Might explain why everyone was smiling (including me) when I retired.1 point

Accel circuit is blocked, still have the F2 150/240 combo in and I dropped the floats from 12mm to 14mm. I also re-synced the carbs, the front one was out of whack after having everything apart. Now, just waiting for a dry day and we'll see what's what.1 point

In keeping with the details, Rod wanted to salvage the air injection tubes with the exhaust manifold to get it plated. Unfortunately separating them without damage was a hurdle he couldn't overcome. So in his own words: "I wasn't able to get the air injection tubes out of the exhaust manifold so I just sent the whole manifold out to get plated. Then I removed the plating from the manifold. I think it came out great. Talk to you later." Addition by subtraction! Genius! As it was explained to me, these air injection tubes are more problematic than they are worth. So he'll decide in the near future whether to crimp/cap them off. Prior to tearing the engine down, the car ran good with them. Either way, the engine will retain its original look, the tubes may or may not be functional.

You'll have to tap in the old harness into the hardware that talks to the gauge. So things things like the voltmeter/tach/speedo (gearbox driven)/Fuel/oilpressure should remain unchanged.
