  1. The 24F is the group that fits. It's tall, but it does not touch the hood. Close only counts in horse shoes and hurricanes. I'm a fan of the group 51 honda batteries. Smaller, common, if you won't start your 510 you need to fix the car, not the battery. You will have to invent your own hold down of course.
  2. That's when I reach for this...

Our friends in Miami got it worse than we did in Central FL. I got less damage than Dave. Just lost a few plants.

Still here, got lucky, no house damage (at least from what I can tell from a quick survey) lost a fence on the back, BIG limb from neabours tree is thru my screen and into the pool, other than that just a LOT of med to small oak tree limbs EVERYWHERE. I don't think I suffered any roof damage, could not see any missing shingles, and no windows or door were breached. It was a scary night. Lot of clean up to do. Never lost power which is good, no AC in central Florida can be tough.

Good luck Jeff and other members in the area. Hope it passes over without too much damage. Irma really made a mess of Saint Martin (dutch colony). One of our friends daughter works on the island, and he lost contact for two days. He was a nervous wreck until she finally got a message through that she was alright.
  7. Daughter came for a visit this weekend and sewed my 6 reproduction seatbelt manuf tags on. Beautiful!

The only reason to replace needles or nozzles is if wear is an issue. Metering needles with a shiny spot from wearing on the nozzle and a concurrent orifice worn egg shape in the nozzle would be a change out reason. As long as the needle is straight and un-worn and the hole in the nozzle is round and .100" there isn't much to be gained.
  9. This yard is mentioned in a current BAT listing for a '71 Z -- might be someone to get acquainted with if they aren't already part of the group. http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1971-datsun-240z-28/

Three of our five vehicles are salvage, but I rebuilt them myself. If you trust them and you feel like they do good work you should be ok. You could always take the car to your mechanic to look it over... Just remember salvage should be about 80% of blue book...
  11. This is a highly recommended headlight upgrade for the 240. I'm not much of a night driver so I can't say how much brighter but everything I've read has been positive, much brighter. This rewires the headlights to pull straight off the battery. Handmade by a forum member. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/12-4651

  15. Be sure to get the correct protective clothing for your new mid-life adventure - something like this comes to mind:
  16. When I replaced the heater hoses on my first 240 I made the mistake of twisting too hard on one of the hoses to get it off the heater core and the pipe that was a part of the heater core broke off. It might have done me a favor though, maybe if the heater core was that weak it needed replacing anyway.
