Question for you guys - I have a friend who bought this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Weber-DCOE-Kit-fits-Datsun-240Z-260Z-280Z-Triple-Performance-40-DCOE-K659/272778769560?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&fbclid=IwAR1-Pa61k0L6wA2H0mXxTlwqbQ5MLFtBQT5KGbX4TlrUgjEMWnvBwIyfpWE Even with the air mixture screw set to max-lean, the exhaust out of this car is so rich it burns your eyes within a few seconds. Are the jets this kit comes with too aggressive? -chase

Hello, I have triple 42 DCOE 8 on my stroker 3.0L L28. Car starts easily and idles nicely. The car is new to me so I can't really comment on the performance, but I can say a single cylinder seems to be running pig rich. I'm firing black out the tailpipe and the #5 spark plug is black and wet. Compression on the cylinders is decent (115psi-125psi) and my coolant was oil free on a recent change. In other words, it isn't a new engine but it seems to be in decent shape. A couple questions I'd appreciate input on: 1. Is there anything in particular to look for on servicing the carb for a single side possibly running rich? 2. What are peoples' experienc…

I'm an issues with the # six cylinder. My carbs were work good before I pulled them of to replace a bad head gasket. After installing the crabs. I notice the car was missing on the #6 cylinder. Pulled the plugs and 1-5 was nice and " brown" but plug on # 6 was wet and fouled. I bought a new plug and replaced it car idle and ran great until # 6 plug fouled and gain in a few miles. I puled the plug out of #6 and grounded it on the shock tower bolts and confirmed that there was spark at the plug. I replaced the wire on #6 just in case. The plug still fouled out. I then lean out the carb on # 6 still the plug still fouled out. I stitched out the plug from #3 and #6. . Drove t…

I recently jetted my triple dhla 40s for a standard N42 L28 and the car felt like it was running great. Basically no hesitations and clean acceleration throughout the the rev range. Carbs are all in sync more less and very responsive. I wanted to do some fine tuning and put on a wideband o2 sensor. The car according to my gauge is running absolutely rich as it gets. I can set it to idle around 14-15afr but as soon as I touch the gas it goes right to 7-9 afr and cruises at 9. The jets/chokes I know are around the proper size. 32 mm chokes, 130 mains, 35 pumps, 7772.5 emulsion. 50 idles, 195 air correctors. What would possibly be the cause of it running super ric…

I am going to be ordering a triple weber setup for my L28. First, my engine basic stats: L28 F54/Flattops, .040 bore, E31 Head which is ported/etc, 500/300 cam, 6-1 header, pertronix igntition, etc. My whole engine install thread here: I've been running the round top SU's with SM needles. They go lean up top despite the needles and repeatedly checking the floats/fuel delivery/etc. Looking to go triples. The good news is my engine was built as a backup for a race car and it came in the crate with jet sizing written on the valve cover. So I have a good starting point. Just hoping you guys can help fill in the blanks. I am learning here. …

Ive been trying to park my Z in the garage but after awhile of sitting in the garage, it starts to smell like gas. I did check each carb venturi area and some have fuel sitting while others look dry. Is this normal? im suspecting it might be fuel level adjustment that maybe out of spec (which i never checked since i got them) but im not sure if its that or possibly a leaky part somewhere. did change all the necessary gaskets and seals prior to installation. I mean i do know there will be some gas odor naturally with carbs but not bad enough to fill the entire garage up. I checked the gas tank and lines and don't see any leaks. it just smells near the carbs themselves. Any…

Hi Guys, Just installed a rebuilt set of 40DCOE's. I can't seem to get the car running. Is their only 2 adjustments, the throttle linkage adjustment at the base of the car and the idle mixture screw by the rear. I did notice a few plugs have gas on them and there was plenty of gas in each carb. Is their any other adjustment I am missing? Also what is everyone using to block the fuel first fuel line and the coolant lines to the old SU's? Finally who sells the throttle linkage? Thanks!

I just stumbled upon a site offering Mangoletsi triple side-draft manifolds. I had never hear of them before. This thread Lists all of the ones I had ever seen mentioned and then some, and they don’t show up here either. There are only two mentions of Mangoletsi on this site, and nothing very informative. Any opinions? —- and while I have your attention, is there anything wrong with the Harada manifolds? They seem readily available and relatively low price.

I have a l28 with mild comp cam 260s and running triple solex 44phh carbs. Here are my specs: outer Venturi 34, jet block OA , main jets 180, main air jet 220, pilot jets 57.5 it runs pretty rich under the high load areas in the mid to high range getting AFR’s around 10s and even high 9s which is super rich. Do any of you guys think I should run main jets to say 160 or 155 or 150? I’m leaning towards 160 to try first but would like some opinions. From what I know the recommended from Mikuni for a stock engine is 150 for 34 Outer Venturi Or 155 if you run larger 37 outer Venturi. Since I have a cam and full exhaust system I figured maybe a richer setting is sa…

Just acquired a 260z with triple Mikuni 40PHH's and would like to learn proper tuning techniques for these carbs. I've done numerous searches for any kind of manuals dealing with the subject, and the only one I've found is the "Mikuni PHH Carburetor Service Manual." Anyone have any leads on any other manuals that deal specifically with tuning these carbs?

Hey guys, I bought a new and never used Z Store Weber set up on craigslist and upon checking valve position for WOT, I found interference with the bolt for the throttle linkage and the throttle body. Please see attached picture. This interference is not allowing the throttle to open fully. It is happening on all three linkage arms/throttle bodies. Any suggestions? I assume these are the nuts and bolts that came with the Z store kit but have no way of knowing because I bought it already assembled on craigslist. Should I change the bolt for a skinnier one? It is pretty small already. Thanks in advance.
