Found my water leak by accident ........
Yeah, many glass guys seem to prefer installing windshields dry (no sealant) these days. I've seen this on several cars in the past. Trying to use sealant w/o removing the windshield is worth a try, but might not fix it. The proper cure is to remove the windshield and use sealant before installing.

Correct Tire Size for Stock Restoration
Not being a judge, nor ever involved with a Gold Medallion car, I'm not sure how the judges react to a non-stock size tire. I can say that - assuming you have the correct 4 1/2" wide rims as fitted to all '70 & '71 cars in the US - if you don't use the 175-14 (only made by Vredstein these days, as best I could determine), the only other size that really fits those narrow wheels is 185/75R14. Same overall diameter, 10mm (3/8") wider section width. Considerably more choices in that size. None of them are particularly inspiring tires by today's standards, but the originals wouldn't be either. And in this case we aren't really worried about today's standards anyway - they would just have to fit and look correct. If you have fitted a set of later steel wheels (either 5" as fitted on '72 through '78 280Zs, or 5 1/2" as fitted to 280ZXs), you could fit 195/70-14 tires. Again, same overall diameter, just a bit wider. It might be worth noting that the Vintage Program cars all got this size tire fitted, although I can't remember which rim size they used.

Don't know if this belongs here or in Boobs.
I think I prefer the car to the girl - she scares me a bit. On a serious note - this car is supposed to be local to me, I've never seen it before, nor does the dealer's name ring any bells. Gonna have to look into this a bit. Update: Ridley's rides is a Harley dealer in Salem, about 60 miles away, even though the eBay location is said to be Eugene. Probably the car belongs to a friend and they are assisting with the auction.

New classifieds
Details? What don't you like? If you don't explain, there's not much of a way to make them better....

Really bouncy ride
KYB's documentation specifically states that their inserts are not to be used with lowering springs. My personal experiences (non-Z) when ignoring that advise was that the inserts were ineffective in very short order. I'd recommend new inserts designed as suitable for a lowered car.

Seat belt Hooks ?
Soi disant "Series 1" cars include both 1970 and early '71 models, through about 1/71 build dates. "Series 2" cars (aka "late '71") are the remaining '71s. For Series 1, the hooks were actually mounted on the seat back, not the rear quarter panel. So it sounds like you have a Series 2. I may also have one or two left in my stash of misc. plastic parts. I'll look tomorrow.

1971 Hubcap Question
Normal, in that yours are not a matched set. I can't recall which was which, but the early 'D' cap were one style, the later were the other. The one with the hole below the D will probably have a different style of retainer clips as well.

I'm Bringing Back Tha Twin Stacks ^_^ !
Take it from someone who spent an inordinate amount of time and money on this - to replicate these things is not as simple as it looks. The biggest problem to using most of the off-the-shelf splitters like Blue shows is the center-to-center spacing of the outlets. If the spacing is too large, the tips look odd (to me). To best replicate the Ansa-style dual tips, I found that a pair of 2 1/2" tips on 2 3/4" spacing was perfect. That was why I selected the particular Magnaflow muffler that I used on my car.

Something to think about at your next Z event
Yeah, my PCA region has discussed this topic as well. Not the kind of press coverage you want for your club...

A/C for 240z
I agree. find the best Z you can, regardless of A/C. Any A/C kit you put in today will be superior to the vintage kits. In fact, even if the Z you select has A/C, I'd plan on updating it with modern parts anyway.

Dyna Lite wheels
They are one of several small volume Japanese multi-piece wheels that were offered here shortly after the first Enkei wheels hit the US market. Many were imported and sold by established American wheel makers who were blindsided by the impact of the Enkei wheels. IIRC, DynaLite may have been imported and sold by Appliance. Their 14" offerings were two-piece welded (not bolted), but the 15" were bolt-up wheels as pictured. As a guess, you should be able to remove the center of the wheel, but the two rim halves are likely welded together down the middle. Oh yeah, early to mid-80s, not 70s.

Vto/Bre Lemans Wheels 16x7?
I'd ask VTO them selves, not just a dealer like Dave. http://64.27.130.204/?page_id=22

VTO Le Mans Wheel.. anybody try these yet?
I think they'd look great on your car, Terje. In fact, if I had not sold my car to you, I might have bought a set of these by now.

Transmission problem?
Jerry, I doubt the box needs another "rebuild". As noted above, there are several things here that might only need to have it opened and a small correction made. I suspect the solution will be fairly simple once it is out and the case is cracked open.

Transmission problem?
Jerry, a speed-related rotational clunking noise only in reverse almost has to be related to the reverse gears themselves. Any other source should have a matching noise going forward. As I sit here envisioning the parts that move only in reverse, I can't think of any other source. I fear the transmission needs to be torn back down.

Replace or Keep Original Spare
The wider 195/70 will not allow the cover to lay flat in a 240Z, as you fear. The 185/75 might - it will be very close. The Vredstein is an OK tire, especially for use solely as a spare.

Thread purge policy for Ebay Discussions forum
In an effort to keep the site clean and make searches more useful and successful, threads older than 4 months in this forum (Ebay Disucssions) will be deleted if there is no useable information in them. In other words, if the only data is a now-dead eBay link, no pictures, or description of price discussion to save for posterity, the thread will be purged. Pictures alone aren't enough to keep a thread around, there will need to be some substance, detail, pricing, etc. This should keep useless threads from polluting your search results.

original 1970 240Z rim
Correct. At least for the North American market, there were no other factory installed choices. Anything else was dealer-installed.

Must be a recent addition, I visited in April 2011, surely would have noticed that since I was still a Z owner at the time.

vintage Z key blanks
$40 bucks is a pretty good price, as I recall. When I bought mine in 2010 they were closer to $60 each. I don't know of anyplace to find them cheaper.
