[2019] What Did You Do To/with Your Z Today?
Thanks Jim2! And Charles, and Gary and Guy.... Had the best Birthday ever! Such good friends came to celebrate here at home and many thanks to you all for your wishes and influence in my life----you really are so special to me. Kagy (the wife) gave me a button to wear on my 70th that said--- In dog years...I'm dead! Well... closer for sure... but not yet... thankfully! You guys are the best!!!

Deal? Or No Deal?
Congrats! A really nice acquisition ConVerTT! Completely unrelated to the nice quarters----Hard to tell for sure from the photo but, I am totally amazed that the speaker appears to be intact and undamaged throughout all of the cutting and transporting encountered in getting them to you. Pretty fragile item that is! Let me know if the speaker doesn't fit into your future plans----I'm a sticker for original stock parts.

- Original Steering Wheel Colour?
Agreed. I've never seen a blonde wheel. Might be that color shifting lacquer they used in 69/70------ 1972 240Z Master Vace Decal Stenciling
jeweler or trophy engraver- Complete roof R&R
Arne did the entire roof, to replace the one that had a moon/sun roof installed. There are several threads--just search "Arne roof"- Complete roof R&R
@Arne (administrator) had his done years ago. He didn't do it himself, but took it to a shop he had confidence could do it properly. He documented portions of the process and gave good pointers as to "how to". I'm at work, but if you searched for "Arne and roof" you might get some hits. Arne might see this and chime in. Hope so!- [2019] What Did You Do To/with Your Z Today?
To augment Jim's post on his wonderful find I'm throwin' this in just in case anyone with an interest missed it the first time---- [2019] What Did You Do To/with Your Z Today?
Hi Jim! What a fabulously good find! I echo Jim2's sentiments above! If it is in working condition, you know that you probably have--- in this one item---- covered the costs of your storage acquisition. Working signal seeking AM units go for really $tupid money these days. Yes to all your queries above. From memory------ it seems the red/blue wire is for the dial illumination lamp. Here's hoping she passes all further testing with flying colors!!- Brake Problems (still)!
Did you bleed the lines while doing all of this by pumping on the master cylinder? Have you checked that the master is still functioning properly? Could it be that your master has failed?- Local Police Trying to Find this Man

What was the clear coat undercoating your Nissan service tech applied kats? Was it from the can he holds in the video? Is it a commonly used type or is it something special you found?- [2019] What Did You Do To/with Your Z Today?
So now you are good to go semi-transcontinental?? The short way. But I'd suggest the Memphis, Little Rock, Ft. Smith, Fayetteville, Branson route for you since you have Arkie roots! Viaje por la carretera en Julio!- Cloth braided heater hose
Agreed--you might try https://www.autohausaz.com/?utm_source=Customer+List&utm_campaign=4229885b00-car-of-the-week-2011-bmw-alpina-b7&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_ad86343d13-4229885b00-90278953 I'll keep lookin' for ya.- Cloth braided heater hose

Yep! @NVZEE posted about this a couple of days ago. So far indications say, they're doing better than my 401K! Guess that's why a financial consultant is using the Z as an example of good planning. Sale price of $40 big ones!- How to tell which head I have?
I think we both agree that SOME heads can be salvaged. As you said----if it's inside----- I don't think there is a fix for that.- How to tell which head I have?
Severe erosion/corrosion of the coolant passages comes to mind. Yes some can be salvaged, but the costs of cleaning and properly welding them up is probably currently prohibitive vs. just sourcing a good head. Maybe costs have caught up and refurbishment is truly an option now?- [2019] What Did You Do To/with Your Z Today?
@240260280 Try to get in touch with the high bidder and politely ask him to scan it. Tell him it is archival material and give him the credits for making it available. He might not want to do that, but you never know-----he may have a sense of "community".- Hemmings acknowledges Z 50th
Sounds a bit rich for an Arkie hick., but I've got a pretty nice Zilver Z and I know you've got the trailer! It was a nice article. Some things said could be debated. The comments section at the bottom floored me when a fella had the audacity to inject this.......... Rusty Sedlack wrote: "I think the roots of the 240Z beg further investigation. While a teenager working to discover his future I was befriended by Industrial Designer D*ck Avery, then penning lines for many successful Chris Craft boats. His career started at Ford Motor Company where he was frustrated by working with 50 or so other designers all working on taillights or sun visors. He told me it was he who penned the lines of the 240 Z while at Ford. Ford decided it had no room in it’s line-up for such a vehicle. Thus, the design was sold to Datsun. This story I find easy to believe as Mr. Avery was just one of those people who not only was extremely talented but honest, very helping and forthright. Maybe someone in the correct circles could check this out?" Rusty is obviously too trusty with D*ck's bull*hit! p.s. If needed, here is an "i" and an "s" to fill in the * censorship blanks where appropriate. Where's George Carlin when you need him--------------------- We're bringin' back the Flat Tops!
What finish did you useonr the grill? Do you intend to use the same for the rear finisher panel and wheel covers?- Kanji found when removing a dash
From the 10/70 build date dash that was in car Vin # HLS30-12142 that I purchased with the help our member Gary @beandip 10 years or more ago. This un-cracked dash will go into my restoration of a 7/70 build date 240Z-----Vin # HLS30-07032. I affectionately refer to her as "BUTTERCUP" since she is painted in her original buttery 919 yellow . Wouldn't it be cool if the translation is "Buttercup" or "Yellow Lady"?? The kanji looks like a "B" with cow horns.- Looking For Plating Shop Recommendations
Zspert---- The original poster of this thread lives near Philadelphia and I am sure Bruce (Captain Obvious) would be extremely interested to know which Philly plater outfit you use.- Looking For Plating Shop Recommendations
What Rich says is it---I just re-told what he told me before I sent my first batch out there. I'm thinking I was out about $160.00 for the plating and shipping. Some of my pieces were the long water tubes that go behind the block on the 73 and associated water piping and that may account for some of the added cost. It is not like I got an itemized invoice. The price of admission as Zspert says. Was I happy with the outcome? Yes, for the most part---there were pieces I wished were better (more consistent in finish) and now I know to seal off areas that the solution might enter and then leak out of later. - Original Steering Wheel Colour?
