  1. carl, i gathered the same thing you did at first regarding the "size" of the engines. but after a simple calculation i realized he was talking an increase in displacement. the L28 has about 14.28% more displacement than the L24. at least i am guessing that is what he mean.... Jason
  2. quick q in addition to this - does this apply to ALL 240zs? because i was going to swap in a 15/16" master from a ZX. do i have to replace all the lines to get proper balance? if that's the case, does anyone wanna buy a ZX MC?

  5. could be the slave, could be the rubber hose that connects them, could be the pressure plate, could be something else mechanical. bleed the lines again. what fluid are you using? are there any leaks?

  12. hello all! i've read where a few people have had interference with the MSA header on the stock SU manifold. but all of them that i have seen this issue on (madkaw and marty rogan) were the 6-2-1 header; whereas i have the 6-1 header. does the intake interfere on the 6-1 header as well? also, if i do decide to grind down the coolant passageways, will i have to weld anything? or is it just grinding? one more question, how are you guys mounting your return springs if you aren't running the heat shield? thanks guys, Jason
  13. all right! Jason

  15. yes, i do. my car has a L28 w/ flat tops, and i can imagine even with lower CR it would still haul buns. i'm running roundtops, btw
  16. bummer.... but that's great you got the new block! i really hope mine isn't cracked; i can't afford a new block
  17. any idea on what had caused that? i'm in the process of replacing head/head gasket in my car, and i would hate to find out that my beloved F54 is cracked....
  18. stock the L28 makes more power than the L26, even with dished pistons IIRC
  19. SPOT ON! my DD is an infiniti I30. since i bought it, i've actually seen fine examples go for ~4000; not too much for a great DD! but anyway, i must repeat that a DD needs to be comfortable and it needs to suit you. however, i would have NEVER dreamed that i would be cruising around in a 4 doo,r FWD, automatic sedan IN MY LIFE! but it's comfortable.
  20. just to add a wee bit of info - the difference in the 240, 260, and 280 blocks is pretty simple. the 240s have the lowest HP rating (don't confuse the 151 it states with the 139, etc of the others. the inital rating was SAE gross not net, ie without accessories) because they have the lowest displacement. they are 2.4L, 2.6L, and 2.8L respectively. the reason that the cars got slower over the years isn't because the engines were made inferiorly (is that a word?), it's because the cars got heavier and the smoq reuirements got stricter. the carb issue that andy had mentioned involves nissan's replacement of the traditional-style, "roundtop" SU carbies with emission compliant "flattop," Hitachi design SUs. that being said, of you are looking for power upgrades, bigger is almost always better, and a common mod done to 240s and 260s is increasing displacement to 2.8 by replacing the block, and in extreme cases boring/stroking the blocks up to 3.2L. anyway, welcome to the site, and I know you will be able to get all of the info you need from the members here! Jason
