  1. Really. Maybe you should see the video i've seen of a 4wd driving down the road, It gets hit by lightning. I saw it slowed down frame by frame. Hit the car right in the roof.
  2. If its a gas smell (not exhaust), pull the passenger side rear interior panel, and the tail light panel and check the condition of the fuel hoses that run through tthe interior, down to the fuel tank.
  3. Back half ot the top one, combined with the front half of the bottom pic. The Z looks weird without the front bumper.
  4. Mr Camouflage replied to Z-point's topic in Open Chit Chat
Obsessed. Now if they were pictures of a pop or movie star, you'd get locked up.
  5. I have a spare 260z to cut up. Not sure of the condition of the panels in question, but can take a look. Shipping to the USA might be expensive.
  6. How about getting the under battery tray section from a RHD car Battery is on the other side of the car. No Battery, no rust.
  7. It you signed up for the web space and the url, then that belongs to you. Anything you create and put on that web space is yours. Just because you are part of a club and developed this as the "official" club website doesnt mean that its theirs. All the fan sites for pop stars, bands and movie stars are not owned by the said star/band but they could sue you for using copyrighted material. You might have to stop using their legal trademarks or logo's that are copyrighted, but they cant shut you down. You can make a website about your hobby and the club you are in. For example www.nissan.com belongs to a guy in the USA that sells computers. Nissan tried to sue the guy to get the url (he registered it first). but they didn't win. though the Nissan bloke cant use it to sell his computers anymore.
  8. Because its a rotary you cant reallly comapre the displacement of the engine in the same way as a piston engine ccar. The 13B is actually more equivelent in displacement to a 2.6 litre piston engine than a 1.3 litre.
  9. That wont fit on a 240z without modifying your mounting brackets. unless you make some brackets to line up the 260z grill mounting holes to the 240z grill mounts on the chassis. The 260/280z ones bend up towards the sky. The 240z bend down towards the ground leaving about 2 inches between the mointing points
  10. Replacement? Dont you mean companion.
  11. I just saw a Datsun fairlady (of the non Z variety) this morning in a car park in east perth. Nice lookin one too.
  12. what i need are Torque settings for: Haynes manual says: *Big end bearings big end bolts? - 35lb/ft (L28) *Mains Main bearinh cap bolts - 40lb/ft (could onlyfind this in L24-26 section) *Head bolts (L28) stage 1 - 29 stage 2 - 47 (L24, 26: - 40lb/ft) stage 3 - 60
  13. Yeah get a set of jumper leads connect one to the positive battery post, and touch the other end of it to the positive terminal on the starter motor solenoid. Thats the little cylinder thing on top of the starter motor. This will crank the engine over, so be warned. Engine shouldnt run without a fusable link though.
  14. I've had 2 1972 Aussie 240z and neither of them had the front indicators.
  15. There are short green people in Roswell?
  16. Go to www.datsunrestore.com Click on Datsun Collectables or follow this link http://www.datsunrestore.com/datsun_collectibles.html Any you can buy Genuine Japanes Licence plates. Second hand ones for $46.95. Not legal to drive with, but cool all the same. Good for shows.
  17. Or from people replacing the guards with 260z items after bingles.
  18. Make that 3 after market parts. You have 280ZX (series 2) Bonnet vents grafted into your S30 bonet! But I see you already know that. Didn't Fairladys have rear orange indicators?
  19. They quite possibly made all the panels in the press without holes, then used a separate press to stamp out the holes in the panels after they had been formed into shape by the first press.
  20. Matt was there with his Blue 240z. Its up for sale if anyone in perth (or Australia) is interested. Other than that, there were 2 260z's that were there last time you were there. Includings Ken's immaculate fully restored 260z 2+2.
  21. I'm in perth too. I'm at the beginning of my 240z resto. Its taking a long time as i'm doing all the work myself, because i want it done properly ( and i'm cheap). WA Z car register (www.wazcars.com) had thier first meeting last sunday (25/1/) at rosies in south perth. Visit the site and send Vauhan an email and he will add you to the email list, so that you get notified of up coming events. We have a Z day once a year. I still have pics of the 2003 zed day at http://vianet.net.au/~craig/car-pics/ Definately have a look at the photos. I'll be upgradign the website soon, if i get any free time between working and fixing my Z up. Hayden, what your excuse for not being at the pub on sunday?
  22. The weight differance between a 260z and a 280z is so small its hardly worth talking about. THe Ll26 and L28 block are the same, except the 280 has a larger bore, so it would probably weigh less. The reason the 260z gets the bad rap it the power rating. 139BHP comared to the 240z 151BHP. The 240z was lighter because it didnt have air conditioning. So you go from a light car with 151bhp To a heavier car with 139BHP. wich doesnt to much for the power to weight ratio, and was seen as a backwards step. The 280z was released to compensate the the 260z deficiencies. Similar (if not the same ) weight, and lots more power. (Cant remember the power rating of the L28, wasnt it around 175bhp?) This was in the US only. Australian 260z had the higher power L26, so we didnt need the increased displacemnet of the L28 to make up for the added weight.
  23. Cool, Maybe i could get one of those engines to go with these......
  24. Now you're just taking the wizz, aren't you Craig.
