  1. P.S. Drag Cars are auto because auto gearboxes are better for drag racing. You loose to much time in the gear change in a manual. Manuals are better for track racing.
  2. Actually real race cars are attomatically shifted manuals.
  3. Yes. You need O2 sensors for the EFI to work correctly. The 02 sensor is not part of the Smog emmissons system, its part of the engine tuning system and is an integral part of the engine system. Remobing the O@ sensor would be like removing the air flow sensor. Your car would work, but not very well.
  4. The L28 on a 280c has 135HP with a down draft carbie and manifold. Take that off and put on twin SU's and manifold from a Z and it will rise to at least 170HP.
  5. How old is that article? I'm sure most mordern EFI is Injected right into the Manifold as close to the Intake. Not at a the Throttle Body. And i'm pretty sure engine manufactures are expermenting with direct injection into the cylinder.
  6. At least there has been some workmanship put into that Z. Not like this car, which seems to have been modified with whatever the owner could find in his shed. Check out those side finns, which just seem to be tek screwed into the side of the car. http://www.blert.net/ai/4.html
  7. Fairlady Z's had the L20 (6 cyl 2 litre) Z432 had the S20 Fairlady 280z had a L28 (equivelent to the 280ZX)
  8. Pic number 2.
  9. Anyone know what this thing is on the back of my 260Z speedometer? The red wire goes into the housing and to the center bit that goes around and around. See pics.
  10. That S20 would look good in my 240z engine bayROFL "In addition there is ƒ?ƒ^ƒiƒx R type 8.5J-15/205-50:9.5J-15/225-50 ƒuƒ‰ƒEƒ“ƒjƒbƒV?c 200000 Yen addition. If thinking, increase the trade-in it is the white or the safari of Z432 - without the genuine defect item of Brown's the body rot it is not non restore of engine normal operation - sport corner service polar riding in a car, it is OK to trade-in maximum of 4000000 Yen." Sounds like he will trade it for a Z432.
  11. Auction almost finished (10 minutes). If anyone want them, now it the time to bid.
  12. Save your money and get a 2 seater. P.S. have a look at the photos of 2 seaters in my gallery. The red one is my parts car. Cost $500. The silver one is $2500. underiven since the 1980's, licenced and running. The problem wiht buying these cars is that they may look good, but the previosu owner may have just bogged up all the rust, and you cant tell what condition thay are in, untill 6 months later when the rust starts to come through again.

  15. Huh? Speaking of Jap/Euro lights, check out these on ebay: Euro Tail Lights Would be perfect for the euro/jap look. I know the seller too, he's a real decent guy.:classic:
  16. Assuming its a P90A head and Not a P90. When those hydraulic lifters go, they are damn expensive to replace.
  17. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Some people dont deserve Z's
  18. Weld it up. It's originally a lead filled seam, but over time the lead cracks and cracks the paint also. You could re lead fill it, but it will crack again over time.
  19. Yeah Its weird. Ian has an early car, but it has the lip on the radiator support pannel like a 73 onwards has.
  20. I have listed my Euro/Jap Tail lights on ebay. Last deal fell though, so i've put them on ebay. They are in excellent condition with no cracks or scratches. They come with the bulb holders and wiring, but the US bulb holders should fit right in to the tail lights. Postage is around USD$50. With 2 to 4 week delivery (higher charge for 3 to 10 day delivery). Will send only after payment has been cleared by my bank. If you want to give your car the Euro - Jap Fairlady look these are for you. Too Intense Restoration sell new ones for $465.95 per pair! Euro - Jap Tail Lights
  21. Yeah I read that article. Looks like the journalist was misinformed. I've talked to fellow Z owners owners that think Goertz designed the 240z quote "All the books I've read say he designed it". I recently bought a copy of Datsun 280Z & 280ZX, full of period magazine articles, and one magazine even interviewed Goertz when the 280ZX was released to get his opinion (He was living in the USA) and the article clearly states that Goertz desinged the 240z and it was the second car he did for nissan. (Page 30, if anyone is in a bookshop, and spots the book). As for that car in speed magazine. What are those brackets on the shock towers?
  22. About 5 meters! It's at the other end of the garage to the chassis. Maybe someone with at car in one piece can help. Try turing up to the next WA Z Car meeting, and bring a tape measure. www.wazcars.com

  24. Actually I was meaning on the underside (outside) of the car, not under the carpet.
