  1. I wonder what the centers would look like painted the same colour as the car? Probaby not good. Hmmm just a thought
  2. Dont they have Guards in banks? Why didn't they detain him untill the police arrived?
  3. Yeah great for burning 4 round circles into your back on those hot Perth summers.
  4. How did you stop it from rusting then?
  5. The immpbiliser shown can be used to break any electical circuit, so you could use it to break the power to the coil, which would work on a carburated engine. You could also break the power to the electric fuel pump (if you dont have a mechanical one). Could also break the power to the ingition switch. Could build a secondary circuit so that if they did get away with the car, every time they pressed the stop pedal, or used the indicators, it would arm and cut the engine again! They might just think that the car is a POS and not bother with it ifit keeps stalling.
  6. Na an Air conditioner would be usefull though.
  7. Do how do you get more power from the L24? Different cam? EFI? Bore and stroke to L28 specs? Turbo? All of the above?:classic:
  8. When I have a spare $3500AUD burning a hole in my pocket, I'll buy another 240z. Speaking of wide rims on Datsuns. Does anyone (Alan) know what the widest rim that was factory fitted to a S30, be it 240 or 432 with flares? WA law states that you can only go 1 inch wider that factory fitted, up to 8 inches. Or if it was fitted with 8 inch or wider you cant go any wider than that. So for example, if the ZG432R was available with 9 inch rims as a factory option, theoretically I should be allowed cut out my guards, fit flares, and put 9 inch rims on my car. So how wide did Nissan go?
  9. Yeah I plan to put air cond in my 240 with bits from my 260. Probably going to make some sort of hybrid unit to fit under the 240z dash and keep the 240z heater controlls.
  10. Yeah VK belina all VL commodores (maybe not the base model). Just pop down to your local wrecker and pick one up. Should be dirt cheap, if not go somewhere else. Then you just have to modify it to work the 260z latch mechanism. Or custom make a latch so that its in the boot, not the hatch.
  11. I think the simplest air cond system would consist of a switch to turn the compressor on or off. Of course the extra load on the engine at idle means you have to increase the idle speed, which is part of the electronics that you are probably missing. but you could just set your ilde with the air cond on and put up with the faster idle when its turned off.
  12. Richo, what sort of donk you got in the z? Put some pictures up in your gallery.
  13. I saw a pic of the new mustang today dont know if its a production or a concept, but it looked very retro.
  14. The problem with the front of the S30 is that you have all this air coming under the front of the car, and once the air that comes in through the radiator it has no where to go except out under the car. A lower spoiler/air dam will stop airflow under the car preventing the lift. Bonnet vents will to, some extent, give the air somewhere to exit to, out over the top of the car, which is better aerodynamics than having it exit under the car. All cars will have a low pressure zone at the back of the car (unless you drive a big tear drop shaped car). Even F1 racing cars. Nissan were silly to put air vents on the back of the car. Also the cabin of the S30 is closer to the rear of the car than most other cars. And with 30 year old cars, seals perish or compress over time. If tyou cars ever been in a accident, iven a midle rear ender, then chances are the seams have opend a little. English 240z had a front spoiler, but probably just a styling exercise rather than a handling fix, otherwise all markets would have recieved them, right? With Later S30's , I believe the spoiler was added to hide the lowerd crossmember, because the 260z and 280z had a bigger (taller) radiators (presumably because of cooling problems), the front cross member was also lowerd to accomodate. As for weight, Have you seen the size of a 1970's Air cond Compressor!?
  15. Try this for a start: judge zcca.org.zip
  16. You could take your old set to a motor trimmer and have them make up some new ones in new carpet. They could use the old ones as a template for the new ones.
  17. Marlows (now Super Crap errrmm, Cheap Auto) sell, used to sell steel reinforced putty. Cant remember the name of it. Hang on i'll go in the garage and see what its called.............. ...............called Quick Steel. Its a grey putty that you kneed together, then is sets hard as steal. then you can file it or whatever.
  18. Can you re tap the hole and use a larger screw?
  19. I expect there is not much difference between the 260z and the 280z apart from the engine. The 280z is a 260z with an L28. Australia (and the rest of the world?) received the 260z untill 1977. Nissan wouldnt make different body parts and interior trim for the 77 260z and the 77 280z unless they are specificaly required because of the engine. Its doesnt make economic sence.
  20. Thats the current trend in vechicle design. 5-10 years ago you couldn't find a sharp line on a car. It was all curves. Now its curves with sharp edges thrown in. for example look at the BMW Z3 compared with the Z4. or even the 300zx and the 350z Going back even further to the 80's it was sharp lines everywhere and hardly any curves. (anyone remember the subaru vortex. not a curve to be seen anywhere. Nissan exa also) Generally speaking of course.
  21. Its just you. well the line above the u is playing optical illusions with your eyes.
  22. I have a thing for yellow cars.
