  1. Making a 240z into a convertable is cutting off one of the Z's best features - That sexy roof line. But if you must do it, id rather see a convesion that has a rear trunk lid so you can still use the rear area of the car. I like the VR 250gto convetable kit though.
  2. Those photos are very, very disturbing. Makes my 240z look like it just left the factory. I've been stripping off the undersealer. It was applied to bare metal. No paint inbetween. I guess this is because paint would chip if you hit something and peel off the metal, leaving it open to rust. Where as undersealer straight onto metal will flex and still adhere to the metal, preventing rust. Anyway I want to re apply some sort of anti rust proofing, and was wondering what was the best way to do it. Undersealer straigt onto bare metal, as nissan seem to have done. Or paint it, then underseal it. Should I use that POR 15 stuff on it then underseal. What are other people doing?
  3. If you had access to a metal lathe you could make one out of brass or aluminium. Most high schools have lathes, well they did whin i was in school.
  4. No advantage, more disadvantages. Lower static compression (dished pistons). less compression = less power. Sell the turbo engine to someone that wants a turbo and buy a non turbo L28 block.
  5. The book 280z and 280zx 1974-1983 has an article on a janspeed conversion for the 280z.
  6. Hayden, I think those 2+2's are starting to grow on me. Though i dont think i would go to the amount of effort Ken did, if i had one.
  7. That blue interior is yuck:sick: All original? what happened to the blue diamond vinyl on the transmission tunnel?
  8. Doors are different. The locking mechanism is different so they wont bolt on the 240.
  9. Yeah, We're not allowed to delete our own posts anymore
  10. Check out the RX-3 (migh be a 808) Coupe next to the TR-7 /8. P.S. thats a porsche 924 next to the Roadster if i'm not mistaken.
  11. That "Strange Looking Datsun" is a Datsun Fairlady Roadster!!! I want it. I can rebuild it. Somebody send it to me.
  12. You could just make a mirrored impeller for the water pump, which would make the water pump suck instead of pump, with the same belts. But you woul also have to swap the radiator pipes around, so that you werent trying to suck hot water from the top of the radiator throught the head->block->pump->bottom hose of radiator. You'd want to suck cooler water from the bottom of the radiator through the head. Also if you had a coolant leak you wouldnt be sucking anything from the top of the radiator.
  13. It takes a while to load. You could probably reduce the file size a bit. I used to have an animated avatar that i made, but for some weird reason my work computer would slow down while displaying it. I'd move the mouse, and there would be a delay. Its a fast computer (faster than my home pc which had no problems displaying it). So changed to a non animated avatar. My work computer almost has an embolism trying to open a new window. Maybe because it's a non 3d accelerated graphics card.
  14. I know of 3 240z for sale in Perth (only costs about $800 to send them interstate I believe). Ian Dredge has 2 240z for sale: One is a Metallic blue one that was from Queendland. (might still be registered on QLD) but is unlicenced in WA. The other is a white Automatic 240z. Both are around the $4000 -$4500 price i think There is also a guy (Matt) selling a blue 240z with a L28 for around $9000. go to www.wazcars.com and look at the forums for contact details. Ians blue 240z.
  15. Can you explain this a bit more? I'm not sure what you mean. Sure you can unplug the wires from the back of the IG switch, and pulg them into another on that you have a key for (you dont even need a switch, just some wires). Start the engine, and drive off. BUT, because the IG Switch thats still bolted on the steering column is in the off position, the steering lock will snap on locking the steering when you turn the wheel to the right position. The IG switch assembley is supposed to be bolted on to the steering column with bolts that the heads snap off when they are tightened up. Leavine no way to remove them, unless you drill them out. There are easier ways to disable the steering lock, but i dont want my Z stolen either so i'm not gonna post on here how to do it.:stupid: :stupid:
  16. 240z #149 for sale on ebay Starting bit $15,000! (0 bids) If thats too rich for you Try this Datsun: Rice
  17. I have a L26 that i'm trying to get started. Problem is that i've ripped out all the dash and wiring, so i cant just turn a key. I got a remote starter, and can get it cranking. Petrols not a problem. I connected a wire from the +ve battery terminal to the +ve terminal on the coil, but i cant get it to fire. I've left the other wires from the coil to the distributer (points). I would have though that with power to the coil and the starter was all an engine needed to get it started and running. What should the negative coil terminal be wired to? Anything i missed? Its from a parts car. I want to work out what condition it is in. Looks like its had some work done to it. It has 240z SU's and separate ram flo air filters, and had a Huge yellow after market coil. I haven't been able to get it running, even tried a different coil off a working engine. I dont think the engine has run since 1996.
  18. If your rear crossmember is straight, you have to change it. If it is curved, you dont have to change it. Do a search for R200. I posted photos of the curved crossmember in another post.
  19. Speaking of rust proofing, is this POR 15 stuff as good as its hyped up to be?
  20. I happend to be invited to the Fremantle Motor museum on wednesday, so I went along. They Dont have a Toyota 2000GT, but they do have a Toyota Sports 800. Which has 2000GT style lights at the front. Tiny little 2 seater car, with a targa style roof. I didnt have a camera with me, but heres a link to the FMM site. Toyota S800 The picture is a S800, but not a picture of the actual s800 at the museum. A Die Cast model of a S800 Modified S800
  21. Thanks for that Alfa. I wanted the Dastun 280zx book that i bid on, but i was out buying a new bonnet for the 240z when the auction ended, an I forgot all about it. :dead: P.S. Did anyone see the Datto 1600 that went for $800 in queensland? Had been stored in a shed for 6 years. Datsun 1600 (Might have to be logged in to see it)
  22. Its easy. you take your old one, sand blast it, the have it chrome plated......... .......and buy a decent pair of sunglasses.
  23. Is that the rear quater badge? Looks like the fairlady bonnet badge too.. Attachment: early 432 rear quarter emblem.jpg
  24. Mr Camouflage replied to Gee's topic in Open Chit Chat
Yeah I remember them. I think i've seen a red one in perth. I think they would look ok as a convertable, but that window line gives it the "i'm a cheap celica with a body kit" look.
