Hooooold on a minute. Trying to be as diplomatic as possible here. I think Gav may have said that not only because Alan didn't be exact on what the detail differences were, but also Mike (ZedRally) said earlier that he found out what the story was, and was going to PM Alan about it. And before that, you said "Oh damn, that info was in a PM and now it's public" regarding the fact that there were 2 versions of teh G-Nose car. I read that as in "I didnt want anyone else to know about it". I thank you for telling the rest of us (who had shown an interest in the metal/fibreglass nose issue) after you had thought about it for a while. But this was after Gavin posted so I can understand how he may have felt a little left-out. Unfortunately on the Internet we cannot show how interested we are in a certain subject, and sometimes people may be very interested in learning, but becasue they have nothing to give they do not post. Unfortunately this can lead to the poster thinking no one is interested... I agree that Alan is right in not posting a topic including everything he knows about everything (would probably overload the server) but in Gavin's defence one wouldn't really ask about how many versions of G-Nose there were (for example) unless one already knows or suspects that there would be more than one. The thought of more than 1 version never even crossed my mind, so I wouldn't think of asking about it. If you drift my catch? In the end, I think what Gavin was feeling was that others here were left in the dark a bit in the details in general, and he's interested in whatever you both have to say. Doing a bit of guesswork here, and hopefully I haven't offended anyone!!! I'm just trying to offer an explanation, no disrespect meant.

Ya, that's what the :cheeky: faces were all about mate
  3. I thought Ferrari did? ROFL
  4. Now you've got this thread started! Here comes the V8 brigade! Apparently you can get the 8's (look at that yellow one for example) to fit very snugly and pretty far back from the front wheels, so they dont alter the weight distribution much. Plus theyre not much heavier than the L24 anyway. Apparently.

Ah yes, we've all got something ot say about teh 2000GT............ I think the Z looks like a BMW 507 :cheeky: :cheeky:
  6. ROFL Nice one!

I blame renault! And I dislike how it seems that no car company from other countries around the world are ever accused of copying, but Japanese makes seem to be always given flack about having designs that look similar to other cars. I like to call the Z a unique design by itself. Sure it was inspired by a few other cars, but ALL cars are intentionally or unintentionally inspired by something. It's racism I tell you!
  8. That was a 2+2? Never noticed... anyway ya it was awesome. Perhaps more awesome was teh stereo setup in it. The guy I took my car to to have 2 measly 6x9s stuck in the back was one on the team fitting hte stereo to that thing, and ya, pretty psycho setup he had. :) I hope there's a *real* Z in the movie!
  9. Actually, I think that is a 280ZX drag car doing that burnout! They better still have that red CLASSIC Z !!! I guess I'll just have to watch the movie to check! ROFL i lub teh pizza

Similar in photos like that yeah, but I wouldn't say the Daytona is a copy of the Z really. I mean yes it has the classic coupe's basic sillhouette, but that's pretty generic for the time anyway. Similar yes, but I wouldn't go so far as to say Pininfarina COPIED Nissan designers.
  11. In 3rd gear? IIRC a 240Z with 5 speed will do 80kmph at 3000rpm in 3rd gear.
  12. You should have restored it, not made a project out of it!!! That must be rarer than the 432-R surely?????
  13. I refer to my Z as a male, because after all it's pretty damn masculine if you ask me. A female name doesn't fit, IMO. Maybe it's just because it's such a bastard to me? ROFL
  14. There were rumours about a V10 Viper engine in a Z once ... but I havent seen any pictures or information so I wouldn't believe it... Darius has his LT1 Supercharged, making some ridiculous amount of power. There are a few 240Z drag cars, with a selection of motors in there. These are tubbed though so I don't count them. There are some normal 240Z drag-set-up cars in Japan running the standard L block with carbourattors that do 10 second quarter miles.......... heavy work involved, but its amazing to think the 30 year old engine can pull times like that.

  21. Microshaft keeps on changing mine :tapemouth Usually I put it to www.drive.com.au though, it's got some good news every now and then.
  22. I'll ring tomorrow see if he has an explaination or perhaps a suggestion. Then the filter (needs replacing anyway so no loss there) and we'll go from there.
  23. I suppose you could always buy those copies then get them powdercoated... but for the price you pay all up you might be better off getting some *real* ones imported from Japan...
