What was it like to meet Mr.K, Mr. Matsuo, and Katayama-san?
I was interested in that too, so I did a rough estimation to take into account US inflation - $60,000 US in 1979 should be about $170,000 US today. I think.

Does anyone know????
The guage of the metal? The weight (or if you can see the Side intrusion bar) of the doors? I've heard the same thing too, but don't know if its anything more than a myth... it is true that when the 240Z changed to the 260Z the many little changes were not sudden - they were brought on gradually (due to oversupply of parts).

BEST 280Z at ZONC Blackhawk Event!
That really sucks marc. Congrats on the award though! From the pictures it looks really really clean. :classic: Just make sure you dont do anything that will just make THEM want REVENGE on you... one ding in the car is enough!

Should I get a 240Z for my 1st car?
I would tend to disagree with that... only 2 seats, thirsty, challenging to drive, high maintenance... this is all relative to a newish buzzbox btw. If you're looking for an IDEAL first car, a Z is NOT IT. If you're looking for an AWESOME first car, you've hit the nail on the head. It will break. It will rust. It will empty your wallet. But you will arrive in the school car park every day grinning like a mug. My first was a 1971 240Z (in 2001) and I loved it. Regret it? No way... I'll get another one of these days (The above is just my opinion!)

Wheel Decision
About the Volks, Victor. They look very similar to the stock R32 GT-R rims. I just found a picture while having a look around Yahoo Auctions Japan and thought you might appreciate it, the R32 GT-R rims are 16" I believe. Anyway, I'll let the picture do the talking!

What was it like to meet Mr.K, Mr. Matsuo, and Katayama-san?
Ben, what a story!!! You must be catching up on sleep now that it's over. That was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I'm sure you know it!! Wow.. I'm so glad to see you had an awesome time, but at teh same time, I'm REALLY REALLY JEALOUS! I can only hope one day I can meet Kats from this forum, Mr. Matsuo or Mr. K..... Chris, thankyou for your story too, when I owned my Z I spent many afternoons just looking at the car from a designer's perspective. I'm very interested in design (especially automobile design) and so your story really got me excited. The headlight scoops of the Z are amazing. I am not surprised Matsuo San likes sharp, crisp edges. The Z proves this without a doubt! It is especially evident when you see a picture of it sitting next to a modern car. The modern car makes the classic S30 look sleek, low, sharp, mean, exciting, exhilarating... pure Z! Thankyou both for your stories!!

R32 GT-R
Why the GT-R, Alan??? An offer you couldn't refuse? Or are you just trying to torment me? Gunmetal R32 GT-R... absolutely perfect. UH! Looks great! edit: also, ben, the GTS and GTS-t Skylines are still straight-6's, not V6's. In case that wasn't a typo..
