  1. Car does not appear to have A/C... that why it doesn't work. The dash controls say A/C on all the cars... That rust will be bad. I just repaired that area and it is not pretty or easy. A patch will not last. I removed rotted patches from my 76... Look through my thread. You will see a fairly nice 280 turn into a monster restoration. I will be into the car for 35 - 40,000 $ by the time I am done and I am doing all my own work. If someone did a small amount of work and tried to flip the car I would not even look at it for purchase as I would have to undo all the "patches" which is more work than doing it right to begin with. Flip a couple of newer generic cars to make some money, pocket the profit and buy a car like this one for a reasonable amount and do a proper repair or restoration. You will spend up a lot more than the purchase price to make this one a keeper. Be prepared. Make a budget, estimate all that you need to fix, check it three times.... then double it. I'm not saying this car is not a good starting point, it's just not a good car to "flip". Most people are not looking for a classic car to just drive as is at this price point. They are going to look at purchasing it and improving it. Unless they are very wealthy and are buying a completed restoration at a corresponding price point. If it has obviously been "patched" and flipped, I would rather have the rust to deal with myself. I am currently dealing with that same issue on mine. Poorly done repairs that now require more work to repair properly.
  2. If your hearts not in keeping the car but in only flipping it, walk away. The rust is there, you just haven't seen it yet. The motor issues may or may not resolve quickly or easily and at $5500 for an unrestored 280, there won't be a lot left for you after all the issues are fixed. My advice? Leave it for an enthusiast as is.... flip something else
  3. Thanks guys. I have a full face organic cartridge respirator and I have the product sheets!
  4. Last few nights in the shop have been spent cleaning and prepping for the primer coat. Picked up my supplies today. I will be using the Valspar DTM 2000 series of primer in medium gray. My body shop supplier convinced me it was the best product and replaces the older epoxy primer. It works as a direct to metal primer as well as sealer in a reduced version. Looking forward to seeing how it goes on!
  5. Yeeeeah.... sorry, but I think most of that will need to be imported from the vendors south of the border. From the looks of your picture, you have all those parts. If you are looking for spares, that is another thing. Or are you looking for upgraded parts? Be specific. I have spare transmissions, diffs, engines etc. Again, what are you looking for?

Interesting project. Check out HybridZ.org as they are more in line with the type of mods you are doing.
  7. If you come across a nice engine splash pan for a 280.... let me know!
  8. In Canada, the high price of the Z33 made it out of reach for most. I paid almost $10,000 less for a factory ordered Z34.... and got a much better car.
  9. I like the resto mod look. When a car is too far gone for "original", a tasteful resto mod can look nice!
  10. What are you looking for? Any and all parts is a lot....
  11. If only someone made them to fit early 76 280Z's.... every time I think I've found a set they turn out to be 77-78 panels.
  12. I spent over two hours photoshopping ...errrr... cleaning my shop last night. Had to move all the kibbles and bits around so I could move the shell under the downdraft fan for the primer coat application.
  13. Ok I kind of figured they would be the same door cards as North American 280's made after 8/76. They would just use the same door parts as the rest of the assembly line. Your doors probably didn't have the heavy reinforcement bars though. Thanks anyways! I'll keep looking...
  14. Check the measurement between door edge and door lock Approx 5 1/2"
  15. The drivers side is a NOS OEM from the local Nissan dealer. They are still available for now... restamps from who knows when but better than the fibreglas piece I had from the PO. I am seriously considering getting the matching one for the passenger side. It's a little rough.
  16. Pfff. Look at that shoddy paint matching. Hood looks like bare metal and those scoops are obviously photoshopped .....
  17. Wow, I had somehow missed this.... perfect. I will order this. The carpartsmanual.com I had seen but didn't find that intuitive or easy to use, especially if I needed to be online to use it.
  18. Pardon the laziness in not having thoroughly searched, but is there a digital version of that parts CD? I have on many occasions wished for a complete listing of Nissan Parts numbers for my car....
  19. I'm going to paint mine body colour as the bottom of the car will be detailed with shiny things...
  20. Ohhh nice! PM sent
  21. Everyone is welcome to our Rocky Mountain cruise from Zedmonton to Kelowna BC this May long weekend!@zkars and I will be there, although I will be in my 370Z for this one!
  22. NOS goldmine! Shiny stuff for the finishing touches!
