  1. Thank you geezer and EuroDat:) Alan,I too am big fan of the red Z432-R,it is the best looking Z432-R for me. I visited Ando san a few years ago (his shop TA auto and him were featured in Discovery channel "Retoro car kings" recently) this tribute car is so cool, not having thin body panel but it has repro acrylic glasses and repro 100L gas tank, also manythings in interior are his work too. kats
  2. Here is a scan of comparison S30S, S30, PS30, PS30-SB, SR311. You see Z432-R 960kg, Z432 1040kg.But there is an important note on the far right ," gas tank is full " . If these cars are no gas, the weight would be 880kg for Z432-R, 992kg for Z432. (I used 1litter High octane is 800g roughly ) There is 112kg difference between them!! It is a lot weight deduction on Z432-R:bulb: Stock Z432 is the heviest model amoung S30 family until 1973 .I am curious about 240ZG is 1010kg, this is too optimistic I think, G-nose is quite hevy.(my 240Z once on a scale, it was 1050kg with a 1/3 gas and all the original Bridgestone superspeed tires and hubcaps and tools) . S20 engine is hevier than L24/L20(S20 199kg, L24 185kg). Z432 & Z432-R has an alminum radiator, it will not make a big difference but it would have to be alminum to reduce weight as much as possible. I know data from factory is not honest sometimes, but my 240Z's 1050kg is close and not so bad to the official weight, I have heard Ferrari or other supercars are much different from their official data. kats
  3. Hi, For some of you may be interested in this, race & rally manual "45nen 2 gatsu" (Feb 1970) introducing and points of tuning of PS30-SB. This book is 80 pages , very interesting to look at.Lots of technical description and data. Here are some scans (bad quality by my i-phone), general view and comparison between PS30 and PS30-SB. All in Japanese, I am thinking of translating whole book....when will it be done??? kats PS: The fuel reservor tank for early US 240Z (plastic tank) could be the same as a tank for race option. The part number is different, but I guess it must be the same...
  4. Hi EuroDat, I found a good note why the 432R dose not have a booster. From the 432R race manual, see attached picture in the middle of the page, 6-2 it says "The reason why PS30-SB dose not have a master vac is to achieve weight reduction and stability of brake feeling. When the car racing, vacumm pressure increase and decrease abruptly " kats
  5. Alan, you have got the box, I sent a PM to you too . I did not know about one gage thinner and even Thicker ! We are tend to focus on only thinner metal on Z432R, but some erea need to have strength to keep the car on good Performance . Hi Carl, Interesting approach of thinking light weight body of Z432-R, I only mentioned how thin the body panels are, but on the other hand we have to look where is normal thickness and even thicker than normal. I think the most effective part of making the car to be super light is deleted components from normal Z432,Z432-R is probably 80kgm lighter than normal Z432. I put an optional oil cooler system on my Z432, I can feel the front section became heavy,it is a small system but it is located very far from CG ,so it is not ignorable. If you look into only front section, these are already "lightened" in Z432-R, Z432-R does not have very heavy steel bonnet but light FRP bonnet , also front center apron is FRP, no air cleaner boxes, no master vac, thin fender panel. Z432-R acts very quick and light than Z432.Negative effects of oil cooler system to handling performance is ignorable in this case. And look into whole body, clear acrylic glasses ,no heater, no sound deadening , these are very good to reduce its weight. Keep joining ,Takeuchi San ! Yes if you have Alan, everything all right. 6. Hi Alan, Thank you so much for creating this thread, I talked with Takeuchi-san this morning and he is very pleased about this forum, many people are seeing his car. Takeuchi-san's Z432R has been restored by a restorer who has amazing skill, he is exceptional. Now progress is good, Takeuchi-san showed me some pictures the car has been painted beautifully, so we will see them one by one later. Takeuchi-san told me that he checked each body panel when they are disassembled, he noticed there are various thickness of the panel. He said probably Nissan used some kind of liquid to thinner the metal by hand, quality is not same, the thickness is vary between 0.6 mm and 0.8mm . He is impressed about frames under the each side of floors, the thickness is almost 0.7mm!! Our cars has 1.0mm for the frame is not it? kats PS: Alan, did you get the box safely?

  8. This is not for the US 240Z, but here in Japan we have good reference ,thanks to Mr.Watanabe he has been tracking Z432/Z432R existing today. http://z432.car.coocan.jp/newpage10.html 25 % of Z432 are remaining (approx430 made,109 remaining) 50 % of Z432R are remaining(approx24 released for road legal ,12 remaining) (Z432R, I am talking about road version only. Not included racing version like Works car or sold for private racer) Quite high ratio ,is not it? And the number could be more than we expected. kats
  9. Thank you Fred, I really want to see old pictures.I hardly ever seen personal taken pictures when Fairlady Z made debut . My father did not have any pictures of Z, not even any Z was happened to be caught in my father's camera shooting our family small sedan. I knew it was difficult to see the wonderful car around my local country side, but I was car boy dreaming about Z. Books, and Tamiya models taught me a lot about Z. Chris! Those ladies are the legend, established long time ago when Fair lady name sports car launched. Still Nissan hires 20 or so Beautiful ladies every year. There must be fortunate guys got married with miss Fairlady and own Fairlady-Z same time! Attached red car is Nissan Laurel , my favorite . I up loaded 11 videos on you tube, please enjoy. Like these, http://youtu.be/xwlCxmoHmXM http://youtu.be/n34YAvwYWGA Merry Christmas kats
  10. Thanks Blue, I am staying Munic today, and I have been loading up lots of videos on You Tube, Tonight you will enjoy my Z cars ! Merry Christmas! kats
  11. I visited Nissan Main office in Yokohama, There is a big show room displaying all new models from GTR to Micra. Nice Starbucks coffee , you can spend hours looking at these cars. Also heritage area, it is worth to look at , a few old cars ,1/1 pictures and histories of Datsun/Nissan. It is like a small museum . Always several Miss Fairladies are attending , they love cars too! You can enjoy talking with them. kats
  12. Here is a harness tag of Z432. E4200 stands for Z432. This kind of tag has never been reproduced, so I need to take this off then I put this on a Newly fabricated harness . It is interesting to see the date on the tag which is matching the built date of the car. kats
  13. Thanks spitz17!!
  14. Hello surfer.tech, You can buy it from Motorsport Auto, the front fender emblem can be put on the rear spoiler. Just for your reference, rear deck embelm "Fairlady-Z" is defferent from the one on the fenders ,the rear deck emblem is slightly bent to match the curved surface of the rear deck panel. I do not think Motorsport Auto is selling rear deck Fairlady-Z embelm,so you will not be in trouble. However if someone wants to put the front fender emblem to the rear deck,he/she needs to bend it nicely. Anyway both are exact same looks when you see from the top. kats
  15. Thanks Blue:)
  16. Hi, Mr.Tasaka did a great job for me, the project for the earliest bonnet has just completed yesterday. I have an original earliest silver bonnet, but it has got a quite big dent in the middle. So my Z432 has a later bonnet for instead,we discussed about which would be a better( the original bonnet can be fixed or the later bonnet can be modified) for my Z432. We decided to modify the later bonnet because it is easier and cheaper to achive the best result than fixing the original bonnet. I am happy with this modified bonnet, 2 big upper holes and 2 small side holes are hidden by metal, and 2 upper corner reinforcements are took off. kats
  17. Hi, My Z432's antenna, hope this helps. Kats
  18. Please let me know if some one has early HS30 and its WASO cylinder has warning buzzer function. I want to know that,if HS30 does not have that function, then my WASO cylinder would be made only for HLS30. Japanese S30s do not have warning buzzer function(I'm talking about early, like 69 to 70) , if my hypothesis is correct, why Nissan made WASO with warning buzzer function for HLS30 despite saying no WASO for HLS30 on the Technical bulletin? Japanese S30s , I do not know. But seems most of the early cars have VOSS type. Japanese owners have FH and VH prefix keys, I have to ask whom has FH prefix key is for WASO or VOSS. However, the service manual has a picture which is showing steering column with WASO cylinder. The WASO cylinder is painted brack, and can not see the switch for warning buzzer function. kats
  19. Hi, I had been looking for this WASO for long time, finally I made it! We know HLS30 has VOSS type from HLS30-00001 according to Technical service bulletin . But this WASO was disassembled from US 240Z( 02/1970 HLS30-016XX). Yes that car could get WASO as a replacement at some point in the past, but I can not say that there is no WASO 240Z originally in the US, what do you think of it? From a service manual, the picture showing steering column, you can see WASO with a LHD car. This already does not prove the Technical service bulletin is 100% correct. WASO cylinder is much heavier than VOSS, a big plastic cap is unique , fat cylinder is requiered bigger key-position face plate and outer escutchon. kats
  20. Thank you spitz17, You can directly ask here, jalopy@dream.ocn.ne.jp They do with overseas customers. Enjoy catalog here, http://revivejalopy.web.fc2.com/catalog.html kats
  21. This is a one for Japanese S30 cars whoes bonnet has this on its top right coner. kats
  22. Thank you LeonV:classic: I proceed to modify my later bonnet for earliest style, Mr.Tasaka is doing the operation. The later bonnet has a big hole each side of the catch mechanism and also has a small hole each side of the bonnet. This later bonnet also has a reinforcement each side of the corner,so first of all, they needed to be taken off. I think the most difficult part is cutting around holes and welding seat metal to be looked flat surface. Has anyone tried this operation? I will show progress of this mission. kats
  23. Hi, I am learning new everyday.I found my Z432 did not have brackets for harnesses the one for oil pressure and the other for water temp. I noticed it when I saw my friend's Z432. I asked Mr.Ando as usual ,he made replicas for me. I installed them today and looked great. kats
  24. The link shows gear driven system and also OS Giken TC24 which has similar system too. http://blogs.yahoo.co.jp/htacr33/archive/2011/09/26 kats
  25. Look at this Z432 and listen to this S20 engine sound, it is just awesome! http://youtu.be/-Qdk2n0aiR4 http://bisan.co.jp/%E7%94%A6%E3%81%A3%E3%81%9F%E3%83%95%E3%82%A7%E3%82%A2%E3%83%AC%E3%83%87%E3%82%A3Z432-p-hitorigoto002/ This car is PS30-00049 S20-000876, The engine has rebuilt and modified with complete gear-train driven cam shafts and an oil pump while original system was chain driven. Gear driven system provides much stronger and fatter sound than original chain system. Very smooth and properly tuned S20 is just like a music instrument. kats
