  1. Hi Alan, I would like to know Is there any chance to reach the point,E4100 would be for the one which I currently have covers? If the 1969 motor show Z432 will have 3 holes only and the positioning of screws are what we are assuming ,it leads me think of the one which we are thinking "later" so far could be an inprovement parts in terms of fixing covers i .e. 4screws are better than 3. And it is very notorious among Japanese owner that "later" positioning screws can cause of cracking easily especially where in front of the bumper , near the grill. We say "when you tightn that screw, you need to turn the screw reeelly light!!" I sold the used old "later" one, it has crackings both right and left where I am talking about. So I tend to think like this, after motorshow designers added screws, then we have got the problem of cracking of top edge in daily usesage, finally designers changed positioning of screws as E4126. I was thinking "it is natural"... I think E4126 is E4126,it has that screw positioning , no doubt. And this has far better positioning of screws preventing cracking. But if it (E4126) was released before the one which I have "later" one, why Nissan would take a chance of the cracking problem with "later" one's screw positioning as a superceded parts. That is why E4126 is mystery , and "later" is also mystery for me. As a side note,I believe I saw there is another unique part relating a cover,we have a head lamp case(plastic) which already has mounting holes on it.There must be a part number.I copied the picture when it was on Yahoo but can not find one in my laptop. I am wondering about it's positioning of holes. Alan, you know about this,do not you? I am very enjoying on this one!! kats

  3. Hi , When I was in Bakers field CA at 1994, I met a 1972 240Z and I owned it and really enjoyed. That was a first time for me Z experience. At the same time I bought a book "Essential DATSUN Z " it says about Mr.Goertz. Fairlady Z was a star for me when I was a little boy(and for all Japanese boys too) but we did not know who designed the car. I read the book, then I trusted the book. So it is natural. Now we have learned many things, it is very good and interesting. Mr.Tamura gave me a special picture on the plastic panel, recently he has been inspired by so many S30 owners around the world, he took a brush and painted by himself. Mr.Tamura is a real artist.Still has incredible skills. Please note this car is what he intented to give for S30 design, no emblems ,different wheels, mirror on the door, different rear over rider, and he can tell much much more details which we can not see from this side angle picture. kats
  4. Hi, This S30S has tinted screen, and at the left door glass, you can see the little notation sticker it says "S30S" inverted see through. Maybe this sticker was for the crews of photo session. And some from service bulletin of Fairlady Z, the description about glasses it says all car has tinted for all around. But as we know, even factory publishings are not correct all ways. kats
  5. I love early.I have later. Covers are NOS , but the NOS rings were not good for its shape.I had a set of used covers and rings,I put used covers with NOS not so good rings on yahoo Japan auction.I sold them cheap. Now I have NOS covers and used very nice shape rings which were re-plated with tripple chrome, they looks very nice than the original. Can you see how the rings are shining? I think typical problem for later OEM NOS cover set, is the rings are not good shape. The rings do not fit nicely with covers(but better than replica I think). Those covers of cource from Nissan, but looking at them side by side, used old ones are very nice shape while NOS ones are not. How about E4126 ones in the boxes? Are they good shape? And the lamp case in the picture is very old, I love its shape. It has sharp edge on the corner. kats
  6. Hi everyone, I spread seeds and they have grown up... I was wondering which is earlier than the other and about 1969 Tokyo motor show, these discussions make me think E4126 is for the one at the right on my poor sketch, and this is earlier than the other. At that time I was not for sure so I wrote "mystery" for the right one. Thank you geezer and all the members here,I think I become clear:) I wrote "protype" for the left one in my sketch,I still can not see 4 screws. But I can not say "100% for sure" for it. Here are some pictures, these examples are the reason why I became to think "....from the biggining...." but, like Alan said many owners might have got the lamp cover at the counter after they have got the car.I can not say "from the biggining" before I get true answer own myself for each of the car. The yellow Z432 is still owned by an original owner(he is now 80 yeas old) and he still drives it!! This car has covers "later" we talked about. This Z432 is really nice and original. The silver Z432 is MY Z432 when it was in 1970's owned by 1st owner, pictured by a magazine. As we can see it ,at that time my Z432 has covers and "later" ones and still there are trace of screws on the lamp case. When I have my Z432 restored holes were treated for good. And two Z432-Rs,Mr.Takeuchi's car has later ones, the other Mr.Otsuka's car has early ones. They both owners are not original owners, but they have owned them quite long time. Mono color shot is from the book "Fairlady-2" , this Z432 is PS30-00021 and this car has later on the right side, early on the left side. From what we have learned, this car could have an accident on the right corner then replaced lamp cover and assorted parts? kats
  7. Hi, I replaced an inspection lamp from later new one to an old original one. The old one has a different mounting base which does not have a gap. I sent this old one to a shop for re-plating then installed wires and switch pulled out from the new one. And I replaced clamps for S20 engine, its oil separator tubes originally have old style clamp.I had have later clamps,I replaced to old ones. As I see it, early L-series S30s have old style clamp for fuel tube, 8 or 10 pieces needed while S20 engine does not use the old style clamp. But S20 needs 3 middle size old clamp for the oil separator. kats
  8. Mike, Yes I need to find how to show you the sound! Sorry my poor explanation, IWAYA S20 model is 1/10 and sound system will be released for GTR and Z432. Yahoo auction one is 1/12 no sound system, this was only for GTR. On the plaque, written in english because we(Japanese people) think it looks much better and cool! kats
  9. Thank you everyone, olzed, that is the point which we must clear. bpilati, yes some prototype have 5 nuts! Ian, I said this, That day 31th was a special day for all of Nissan fans, there was a forum of car design of Nissan at Hiratsuka city art museum.Lots of old sketches , tools of car design, clay models, and cars were displayed. And what a special was, talking about historical car design by designers. I was not there, I missed it so much (Ian you would also) there were lots of important people of Nissan car design, Mr.Kimura (CSP311) was there and, Mr.Kimura's talking was just great. He told CSP311 was his design, after completion of its styling , Mr.Goertz joined the project. Mr.Goertz did change rear quater piller shape. Other body styling was "my design". And I found this website, people are very very seriously talking about design of CSP311.They are talking about Mr.Kimura and Mr.Goertz. People are very happy Mr.Kimura was there forum and declared his design. http://mizma-g.cocolog-nifty.com/blog/2007/03/csp311_68ec.html Translate function will work for this website? Or Alan will help us! kats
  10. Yes, it is interesting ,Johnny'O your 240Z would have a very old block , assembled late 1969. Who has "9618@" , 18th Jun 1969 is my birthday.I want to see it. kats
  11. Hi Mike, Good point, I have to check again. The reason why I told S30S with a tinted glass is, I cant see clear glass for S30S in the parts catalog nor service bulletin. The green 240Z(HS30S) has a tinted glass, this is the only one I have ever saw "basic model S30". And this car is 1972, I have never seen early one like 1969/1970. They(publishing) are not always collect as we know, the true answer would be seen in actual cars which we received.Early ones would have clear glass, and this green car could have tinted as an option. If Alan is collect, then we can understand why Mike's NOS glass has "S30S" on the label. It makes sence very much. kats
  12. Thank you everyone, thank you:) I am thinking same thing, we want L-series models. For me, completely stock L24 with air cleaner would be the best.I am asking that to IWAYA president. This model is 1/10 scale, there was a 1/12 scale model of S20 released from another manufacture in some I do not know 10 or some years ago. That 1/12 model is now on Yahoo Japan auction(the starting price is crazy),http://page4.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/d111129680 That model does not have sound operation.IWAYA cop. is very good at sound operation system and featuring it in toy. kats

Thank you DMC-Z, It is very interesting,so far we seem to know driver's seat has stiching while passenger's seat does not. More inputs welcome. kats
  14. Hi, Let me introduce a fine model of S20 engine produced by IWAYA cop. This has two version , one is Skyline GTR and the other is Fairlady-Z432. This has sound operative, you can listen S20 engine sound. (Maybe already you know, the sound for both version was recorded from my Z432:) They are on sale soon in Japan. The pricing is little bit expensive I think . The picture is for Skyline GTR. kats
  15. Hi Mike, I did not know that you got the NOS windshield! I do not have any idea "FH" means. And I am wondering , why this sticker says "S-30S" , S30S is the basic model "Fairlady-Z" , even though this model, all Japanese models except Z432-R have tinted glass from the factory . If this clear glass for Z432-R, it should be"PS30SB" Attached picture is a part number label, both for my DATSUN 240Z when the car was in restoration.I have got the NOS glasses from the Yahoo auction. 90301-E4101 is for the rear, tinted and heated. This one is exactly correct for the original, as I see the marking (NISSAN ASAHI DOT...)on the edge of left bottom corner. 72631-E4100 is for the front, tinted glass. But this glass does not have original marking,NISSAN and ASAHI is on it but other number is different from the old original one.I think this was made later for the replacement part. But not so later because the part number label is old style. kats
  16. Hi Carl, Thank you for "recap" , that is very useful. kats

Hi, I am not for sure we have discussed already or not , about a tail gate support. My Z432 has this support, but my U.S spec 240Z has different style. Are they correct for each build date or domestic/export ? I have no idea about this, please tell me anything you know. kats
  18. I have some too, I was surprised the under floor pan was not damaged very much than I expected.Looks like nothing has changed from our 240Z except the exhaust system!! And some from Japanese car magazine, note before the rally, the additional lamps on the bonnet have a clear cover. Left rear fender, the SEIKO sticker.above the SEIKO, there is no KS (Kanto seiki: for the steering lock & key /Tach and Speedo e.t.c. ) sticker.I think this KS sticker was added after the car shipped back to Japan.Nissan displayed this car at the Tokyo motor show 1971, so Kanto Seiki wanted to be advertized at the show. Also support cars, the far left is 240Z , this might be as a donor for the race cars. kats
  19. Thank you Carl , Enrique I have learned new thing, they came with a screw, that is great. However the square style knobs which came from Nissan part dept.several years ago, they did not come with screws. I have a 6 feet long R/C , The F-16 (with Jet,made by BVM Florida) is still in progress, yes they use lots of tiny screws. kats
  20. Hi, Today I found a small thing, the NOS knobs (choke and throttle) have taping at the end, I thought it just for showing "this is an auto part from Nissan". But,looked carefully, I found a small thing. The screw is hiding in the hole. The taping is preventing the screw from dropping off:bulb: I do not think the screw has a part number. Is it hard to find screw? Is it easy to find same screw at the local store? kats
  21. Glenn, very nice car, congratulations!! kats

Thank you Mike and cygnusx1, repair job, I like it! kats
  23. :)Mike, good question, All S30 in Japan, even S30S basic model have tinted glass for all over the car except Z432-R. The part number is 72631-E4100 for the front. Z432-R, only a front wind shield is clear glass, others are plexiglass(they are clear of cource). Did you know Z432-R's front wind shiled part number is 72631-E4600 This means Z432-R borrowed it from export model, does not it? So, Mike your clear glasses are very special and rare nowadays. kats
  24. Thank you Carl, the pace car is cool:) Nice photo! Here are some pictures of "1972 Fairlady-240Z" , HS30S (L24 engined, STD:basic model) We do not see many this HS30S or S30S in Japan, these basic model is rarer than Z432 I think. No defroster on the back glass (but this car has a tinted glass, not like a 1969 240Z with clear non defog) no carpets but rubber mats, no rubber guards for the bumper, I missed to check about the inside mirror which has day/night mode or not, according to the service bulletin, all S30 in Japan except Z432-R have a day/night mirror. Please see the radio and fuse cover, the radio does not have an auto antenna,it is a manual extention one. No switch for delux, no auto signal seeking. A blank plate for the defroster:) The far right should also be a blank plate but this one has a poor rubber piece on it. kats
