  1. Hi Chris! Thank you, how are you doing? I hope 26th & 27th are doing well too. Today I am asking this, I have never think about these wellded very big nuts on top of roof rail,I have just found them last week.2 nuts each side, left & right. What are they for? Are they related to roll bar? Does every S30 have these nuts? Kats
  2. Thanks Blue! Kats
  3. Hi, my Z432 came back home safely in late September. I am very happy the car had no scratch and no mechanical damage. After receaving my car I took my car to the photo studio right away. My Z432 wil be on a top cover "Nostalgic Hero" coming on Mar. 1st. I recently did small things that I was not able to finish before the ZCON. They are, #1 replacing door weather strips to E4100, I had later ones which I did not like the shape. #2 replacing correct old style butterfly wing bolt for the air cleaner box in front of the radiator.Looks like "micky mouse" #3 organize battery cables correctly using clips on the fire wall. #4 added vinyl tubes for the cowl top screws like factory instaled to prevent damge the cables and short circuit. #5 added rubber pieces on the top edge of the quater glasses. My car was missing them when I bought. #6 replacing exhaust bolts and nuts to S20 correct ones. #7 I found old licence plate bolts used in Japan back in 60's and 70's.They were in the tool box and could be used for my father's car when I was a kid. #8 Changed pilot jets from 55 to 57.5 this gives good torque and feelings. Now 180/135/57.5 for my Mikuni 40. I should have done these before the ZCON! Kats
  4. Hi, I just want to show this, the location of the transistor ignitor box. Skyline GTR has the box near the radiator, it is not good idea because it is very easy to have water and moisture. Many GTR owners have the problem then they modify entire ignition system and its location. And the horn relay,Passing light relay avobe the emergency frasher. The gold box is an oscillator. Kats
  5. Hi Stanley, Yes this is my favorite feature of Z432. If you review some years back in this thread, you see the bottle had a simple plastic cap without an metal adapter. When the car was in restolation, the car got NOS parts,a set of a bottle and a bracket. But it is for some mid 1970 or later type. Difference between early and later is the cap and the adapter. I desperately wanted an earliest one which is a metal adapter between the bottle and a metal cap , the metal cap has a push button to release a pressure. Also the car was missing a bracket for a hose from a radiator. I finaly found the cap and the adapter, both are exactly shared with Nissan Gloria,Cedric. And the hose bracket was crafted by Ando-san . They are really hard to find, I want them for my 240Zs too. Kats
  6. Thank you everybody, I did not know about ethanol in fuel. In Japan ,some gas stations are cheating, they sell their 'brended' high octan fuel.(not so good quality) But it is not violation of law as long as they keep mix ratio below the regulation. Kats
  7. Thank you Stanley, nice meeting you and nice pictures! I will download all of them, I could not have time to see all of wonderful cars at the show. zKars, I am very happy that you like it. I still can not find out what is the best condition of this car. I think I am seeing it almost, but still not clear,so I need to drive this car until I find the best condition. When I find the best jet settings of 3 Mikunis, I will be happier than ever. My policy is always unchanged, to achive original condition & perfnrmance with original parts even if the car is not fast. I could go up-graded aftermarket ignition box and spark plug wires ,lower and stiffer springs e.t.c. but I am not interested in doing so. NOS is not always working correct, I had to buy 4 ignitors 3 boltage regulators 2 alternators! Good compression and good spark are always come first. Kats
  8. So, if you want a happy driving with S20 motor, that is going to be definitely Z432-R. FRP bonnet, no-air cleaner box, thin metal of wings, more stiffer springs, quick arms make this car fan to drive. Mr.Uemura said in his book, 'As it turned out,Z432 became a car with a lot of toppings' I think Nissan executives wanted everything what they have on their new sports car to appeal people, and other manufactures. But they did not sell Z432 abroad, that might be another story. In the book,I can not believe that even Z432 could have put 4 speed. The sales department claimed 5 speed costed a lot, and its shift feeling was not prefferable in some people, they wondered they would have complains from the customers 'does not much price and shift feeling'. However Mr.Uemura insisted the sales department 'We only have this 5speed(porche synclo) , and I love this 5 speed. Please do not make this car feel ashamed, other manufacturs such as Toyota ,Mazda put 5 speed for their sports cars'. Kats
  9. Thank you ktm , I think you were at People's choice car show, were not you? LS 1 with very bright orange, I think I saw it. Probably you noticed when looking at my car, bad points of S20 engine. S20 is a very heavy, and mounted very high.Yes Z432 has stiffer springs, and very light magnesium wheels, and aluminum radiator. But I am not happy about this handling ability. On the other hand,my blue 240Z handles very light and quick. My orange 240Z has a nice airconditioning, lots of heavy mecanism are installed in front, so it does not handle as good as my blue 240Z. LS1, it is a good handling machine, lower mount and short longitudinal dimention. bartsscooterservice, ethanol, I did not know that is a reason, thank you. Mike B, thank you for bringing your NOS FM pack and assorted items. We made it, your export version created woderful tuning and we listened clear FM radio! Kats
  10. Thank you Eric! Kats
  11. Hi, At the ZCON 2014, I demonstrated staring engine and 8 track stereo system in front of people. I regret the engine was not tuned properly. I knew I had to do work these things, but I could not have a time to do. #1 High OAT under the sun shine in summer of San Diego. #2 Octan of fuel is slightly lower than Japan Before leaving Japan, it was early Jun. The mixture was very good in Japan. This means I needed to adjust mixture for hot WX. And I always fill up 'High Octan' in Japan. The ignition timing was adjusted for High Octan and it was nice. However 'premium' in the US seems slightly lower octan than Japan,I noticed this in the past when I brought my 240Z to the convention 2000 & 2004. People saw my Z432 did smoke. If the engine was tuned properly, and it was warmed up,smoke would be less. BTW, this S20 engine was designed with relatively wider gap between piston rings and a cylinder comparing other engines like L-24 e.t.c. It eats a lot of oil, 1000km/0.8L for my Z432. 1969 'Car Graffic' new car test reported Skyline GTR ate 1000km/1.8~2.0L. Nowadays wellknown S20 rebuilt shop (only 3 or 4 shops are true rebuilder) can do almost non-oil decrease engine if you want. 8 track system, I played 'Born to Run' and FM radio, it worked well ! 12. Congratulations Jay!! And thank you for your total surport of my car, I would not be able to bring my car without your help. Kats
  13. I should say this first,I have just arrived Japan, me and my family are so happy that we met so many wonderful people at the fantastic ZCON 2014 San Diego. Thank you Montezuma! and all the people who dedicated so much to the convention. BTW, how much should I give a discount to someone who wants to buy my car?:embarrass: Kats
  14. Hi motorman7, Nice meeting you. Thanks for mentioned, yeah , I could not understand why my car could not make it, officially said demonstrated top speed was 210km/h but my car is always below 190km/h..... Seriously, it's my responsibility and I am so embarrassed . I should have pointed it out when my car came back from a shop. I had my car fixed oil seal of crankshaft in last summer. I had never noticed that the fan is installed backward !! See the pictures before and after. I have been driven this car like a daily driver even in the rain,I have never had a problem of driving it. Yes I am for sure the temp gage is working correctly, once thermo stat is opened, it shows always around 75-80c under any traffic condition. motorman7,do not worry about it, I am just a captain not an engineer. If he says ship is ready, then I do not have any question, just go. I guarantee my skill is always satisfied Kats
  15. Hi Montezuma, I can not wait to see all of yoy and show my car to everyone. Thank you for the arrangement of people's choice car, let me think of it, I have not decided yet to bring the car to the stadium. I will make up my mind befor the convention. Talk about later, Kats
  16. The Z432 has arrived well before the convention, it makes people prepare easier for this big trip. 2 weeks STBY on the loading yard,2 weeks on the Pacific oacean, 4 days to get out the LA yard. The car was so dirty, must be in a plenty salty rain and air. I did not want my car to be tied down using exsisting tow hook because generally speaking, it is not strong enough if a car is pulled abruptly. So I taped over the hook with 'do not use' caution. The car is tied down using its wheels and tie rods,it is good. Kats
  17. Hi Blue,Montezuma It is Paris! very beautiful. I bring this book to ZCON 2014! Kats
  18. Hi Carl, Thanks for joyining, Mr.Uemura said there were 3 types of transmission going to be fitted, FS5C71A, F4W71A, and BW35(BorgWaner made). Development team thought Automatic transmission was must item for the users in the US. He said BW35 was an only choice for the automatic transmission at that time, it was a very big so the tunnel was enlarged. However it was not installed ,Nissan chose much more compact JATCO 3N71A and waited until it became ready for install on an assembly line. Mr.Uemura said in the book 'this car does not need such a big tunnel...' JATCO was an originaly Nissan's Yoshiwara factory. So the answer is A , but Mr.Uemura said 'We very much expected and prepared for an order of installation Y40 (President V8 4000cc) from the US maket ,but no order' He said if it became real it could be a good easy-drive car with big torqe despite less efficient procedure on an assembly line.L20/24 were installed from the underneath , but Y40 needed to be installed from the top due to its width of engine. Mr.Uemura said 'BW35 was used for President and Cedric ' So my guess is the team would think and prepared 'for the S30 ,BW35 for Y40 engine'. No test cars of this Y40, too bad. Answer C could also be correct I think. Kats
  19. Hi Blue, Its beautiful but looks so painful to a car and driver. Kats
  20. Alan, I am very interested in the early Europe test too,we keep our passion to finding the more details and stories, my next plan is having an interview with Mr.Takei as a chief crew of the Europe 240Z development team. Alan, posting crips from the DVD is very helpful, everyone can see the interesting details. Here is a question for all of you, What is a true reason for the size and shape of the floor tunnel ? A: To install a BorgWaner auto transmission. B: To maximize ability of installation on a production assembly line C: To install a Nissan President V8 engine What is your answer? Kats
  21. Hi xs10shl, That is what I want to say. This book is must be spread all over the world. I am for sure the book is deserved it . And xs10shl, can I see you on Sunday 9th or 10th ? I will send PM soon . Kats
  22. Mike, What a rare thing you have got! Complete set of a NOS FM pack, I want to have a leather case for Clarion but no luck so far. I will make it by myself to protect this rare device. Kats
  23. Hi Alan! Yes of cource I remember you let me see the picture of the LHD S20 car, that car is proved of its existance by this book! About Belgium road,Mr.Uemura told it was a simulated road in Oppama factory. The factory lmported blicks from Belgium where the road replaced to modern then blicks were not needed. The test road was extreamly tough for test cars, body and axle & suspention. Like 510 ,Cedric, they set a target 4000Km running test, but for S30 was 2000Km because the car was not considered as a TAXI. Kats
  24. Hi Carl, I think the book is a Japanese magazine issued early 1970,I will check it when I am home . Mr.Uemura told 'We also had 19 moch-ups, to follow up those tests of 11 complete test cars' They were 12 crash test 2 seatbelt & mounting stress test 2 body stress & vibration test 2 engine room moch-up 1 wiper test cut body Is this model available in the US? ?????????????????????Z? | ?????? Eaglemoss Ltd I will pay aprox.150000 JPY when I complete !!And will take 2 years to finish. The most valuable thing of this model and you will be pleased is, a DVD of an old film making Fairlady-Z. I am not happy with the model ,I expected much more high quality in this price range. However I have the DVD!! This is awsome. It is not co-oparation of Mr.Uemura & Eagle Moss, but after reading the book I noticed there are lots of test cars discribed in the book are seen in this DVD. Running test cars have different C piller, different tail lights, different interior trim & color e.t.c. So the design team were still working hard at that time. Kats
  25. Thanks for the interests, To begin with, see this menue for the prototypes. I did not know 4 cylinder L16A was considered and tested for the Z! I thought 4 cylinder idea was only for exterior design sturdy. Also S20 for LHD! L engine with Solex was L20A 160hp,not L24A. Very interesting! Kats
