Hi, I have been dreaming about one day I will have my S20 painted silver like an original. My S20 engine block was painted black. And yesterday I did it by my hand! I bought a heat proof silver spray can and a brash, I did not want to dissassemble the engine from the bay, I decided to paint with brash with the engine stayed there. To mask everything seemed too much for me, so spray can was not suitable for this mission. I sprayed silver in a cup to get enough paint liquid to dip a brash. I took off the starter,alternator,and the oil filter.I also considered about taking off of 3 carbs, but I decided to remain them. I think I did good work.If the car was fresh rolled out from a body shop, I would not do it by myself. Now the car is daily driver condition, so I did not hesitate to do it. Do not look at closely, this is not professional work,you will find some imperfections:ermm: kats

Hello Blue, Thank you for the story when 240Z was for sale,that is what I love to hear . I am not for sure about listing in Japan at those days, but I have heard quite often this, when S30 was introduced , that car was actually "dream car" for the people in Japan. Not so many people could buy it, S30 was a super car even basic model(S30S). About Z432-R, category A international racing licence was needed to buy it. Also some people were asked about the licince even buying Z432. Economic condition and life style in Japan was very different from the U.S. and other country in 1970's, I think. kats

Hi Fred, You have a 69 Fairlady ZL! That is a super rare car even in Japan , only very very few 69 Fairlady Z/ZL might be survived in the world. I guess currently they are less than Z432( approx.480? made ,currently 100 are still on the road) , or even could be rare as Z432-R ( approx. 25 ? released to the public , currently 12 are found) On Oct 1969, 48 domestic S30 were made( Fairlady Z/ZL/Z432) ,total 67 domestic cars at that period. Hi, Z432 had an accident on the back of the car , I noticed the back panel is something wrong, it should be much round, should have more nice curve below the bumper. I happened to see the old photo of my car from the Japanese car magazine which my friend Mr.Ukai( chief editor of Car Magazine) sent me. The registration plate shows Shinagawa 51 RU 28-98 this is my car! And this car has already unusual back panel. So I found my car had an accident in some 1970's according the pohoto was taken. Now you can tell the difference, before the restoration the panel was fixed badly, but now the car has complete new OEM panel on the back. My car had head lamp covers, I have complete set of them new( trim rings are re-chromed came from old ones,this is the best way to achive the best ring shape ) but I like the edge of original plastic lamp case, so I want to keep them in my shelf. Z432 is like this now. I bought a set of new tire, I think they are the best looking for old cars which we can buy from Bridgestone recently. Actually they are for the CAB:classic: MILEX TA21. Kats

My Z432 has dual speakers for the 8 track stereo, but I found the bracket has two types of shape. Left speaker 's bracket is not a circle while the other side is a circle. Which is the earliest? From the service bulletin issued Nov 1969, the illustration is showing not circle bracket. It is interesting! And the speakers are not the original earliest ones, but they came from a 1973 240Z. The speakers have silk screen on the top, how about yours? Kats

My Z432 was something missing for the air cleaner. I found it needs 4 hose clamps on the back. I pulled them from my old spare cleaner box, clean them and installed them. Oh yes,I will replace a water hose to the cloth braided hose when I bring my Z432 to Sandiego 2014:classic: Kats

Hello All, Thank you so much for watching, I did not put progress about a year ,my Z432 had a serious problem on floors and doors, also tail light panel. 5 years ago I bought this Z432, I thought the whole body was restored good, but it was not. I had enjoyed driving it very much, even in the rain.The car is now no more showroom condition,but floors/doors/tail light panel looked new. Kats

Hello All, I could not drive my Z432 for a year due to floor rebuilding, but in Aug it made back. I replaced front springs new ones, now the car looked correct as factory photo. You may notice the car has later disk for front brakes. Kats

I was thinking about calling eBay , but did not just I was very busy. The seller taaroa477 gave me a reply, and he refunded me 710.00 USD on 13th Jan. That was almost one month gap. I had been asking him if he did not send the wheels, please refund the money. He said during his vacation, he would have think the wheels delivered , but he was informed they did not by his close friend in this CZCC. He then found the wheels were sent back to a local post office, Then he got e-mail me back quickly with the refund. I want to apologize everyone here, also taaroa477. He just went a vacation. Like Arne said, right side of the car is heavy. Especially Export 240Zs have a big battery. I thought L24's intake and exhaust manifolds and carbrators are heavy, but maybe not that much to compare the right side. Z432's S20 engine is right side heavy, all the things installed right side.On the left side, only stainless exhaust manifold and small battery. We are sitting almost in front of the rear tyre, yes(^0^) kats

I should say in terms of early S30s,I looked up Oct 1969 LHD 240Z parts catalog, Dec 1970 RHD 240Z parts catalog, Mar 1970 Fair lady-Z parts catalog. Springs are all the same except Z432. (for RHD 240Z, there is an option though) Shock absorbers are all the same even Z432. Some point in 1970, changes were made. Mr.Miyazaki( S30 test team, not test crew in the U.S. late 1969) show us some reports, Euro 240Z was finally settled in Mar 1971. The one interesting reports there,it says Apr 1970 : at Yatabe test circuit, Euro version (HLS30Q) project started using HLS30U( US spec) they found bad cross wind stability in high speed cruising Jun 1970 : Euro version was set. It says this suspension set up is same as Z432, same spring rates and same front / rear stabilizer.Shocks are the same of all the S30. At this point, rear spoiler only. Aug 1970 : Above Euro car(s?) was shipped by boat to DATSUN Netherlands Nov 1970 : DATSUN Netherlands tested and reported feed backs.They said "The side wind stability is Very Bad. This is caused by the following points" 1,The center of gravity is a bit too high 2,Too much body roll caused by bad shock absorber 3,Roll bars in front and rear are too light After this reports, the team took immediate action.First, they took a rally car Monte spec, then tested. to be continued. kats

Hello, I have a question, I looked up earliest parts catalogs both LHD and RHD, springs are exactly same for both.(except Z432,of course this car is RHD only) I thought the reason of front springs are different right side and left side because of the driver and related systems weight( steering/pedals/guages e.t.c), but seems not. Because of what? I think LHD should have inverted springs right side and left side. All S30 have longer spring on the right side than left side, they become same length when installed.Please see attached picture. Long spring means soft(confortable) ? or stiff ? If it means soft, I can see this is reasonable for RHD cars, but I do not get it for LHD cars. Am I slant little bit to the driver's side when I am in the each car's (LHD and RHD) cockpit? Any thoughts would be appreciate. kats

I think a red one is a Vintage Z program, a silver one is an Euro as it has orange reverse lights.
