Datsun-240z Vs Fairlady-z432
Hi Mike, how are you doing? Hearing from you is always exciting to me. I did not know that the difference between the FM packs, what a interesting find! I thought HITACHI has wide band ,Clarion has narrow band. But NO, both manufactures have wide and narrow.I have collected pictures in my lap top,and looked them carefully and yes, they have both.See attached pictures. Mike,is your FM pack HITACHI or Clarion? I think lots of FM stations already exsisted in the US than that era of Japan. And I wish I could see your super early blue 240Z, but I am excited about seeing you there. Please bring your FM pack. I also did not want to ship my Z432 by boat, because 2 weeks trip on the Pacific ocean make the car rusty. I have sent twice my blue 240Z to the US before(2000 and 2004), lots of bolts and nuts turned white. They were shining gold before the trip. But I took cheapest way to ship my car,I hope the car does not get rust so much... Kats

Datsun-240z Vs Fairlady-z432
Hi, I finally obtain this "FM pack" factory option for S30 in Japan just a few days ago. An 8 track player is HITACHI, but a Fairlady-Z owner's manual showing this Clarion FM pack. On the other hand, DATSUN 240Z S30 RHD parts catalog listed another manufacture FM pack, that is a HITACHI made. The picture in the catalog is very accurate, I was not for sure it is existing or not, but some years ago I saw it on ebay. So, Clarion FM pack is for my Z432, HITACHI FM pack is for Export model , it is my understanding. But viceversa will be there of cource. I will bring and show you my FM pack works very well at ZCON 2014,I will be able to make everyone has smile on his/her face. BTW, can the FM pack catch the wave in the US where it has never been trying to receive it in it's whole life? I hope it can do that,, will be no problem. Kats

Datsun-240z Vs Fairlady-z432
Hi Fred,I would like to see your Fairlady-Z , the car is so rare in the world, I have never seen a 1969 Fairlady-Z in person. Tire is getting harder and harder to obtain original size, 175 SR 14 is NLA in Japan, only choice is 175 -80/14 but this is just little bit smaller diameter than SR 14. However it is not too bad. Chris, my Z432 is not that good, if I would enter, that would be daily driver class. I drive my Z432 more than once a week even in the rain. Yes almost the parts are stock Z432 but they are not clean , I wish I could tell you every details one by one. I am thinking of replacing front windshield to the Nissan stamped NOS before shipping. Also door wether strips are later type . I need to hurry up if I change the ones too. Kats

That will be so fantastic moment for me displaying with those dream cars. I have something to ask , let you know later, thanks. Chris! I wished I could see you there, too bad. About the replica yellow car, I was at the Las Vegas convention with my blue 240Z and the yellow car was also brought from Japan in June 2000.The yellow car was built by an journalist of the magazine and many people helped at the shop "Ultimate" where my blue 240Z was built too.My car was built by the owner Tetsu. Both cars were there almost at same time and so busy to be built not to miss the Nissan cargo ship to LA departed in Apr. Kats

1973 240z fuel pump where does it mount?
Hi Captain, I saw the book on eBay a few times before but I have never seen inside of it .The flat top SUs do not have good reputation in the US maybe Japan too I think. All 1973 Fairlady Z series(except Z432) have the SU, but less emmision mechanism comparing with the US models. Stanley ,Z432 have the FP as standard, for performance ? Yes I think so. S20 engine is designed like that from the beginning, engineers of former Prince motor company put all electrical ignition system For 3 twin choke carbs and the FP , all in all they wanted to do their best for S20 engine's stability at high revolution to produce max power. As a side note, S20 engine does not have a return fuel line to the fuel tank. Nor any emmision system, so the model Z432 and Skyline GTR were dropped from the fleet in 1973 , the time began emission control spread all over the world. Only 2 or 3 Z432 were made in 1973, the last one is PS30-100008 Feb 1973. Kats

Old pictures of your first Z
Hi, I love this thread,I always enjoy seeing old pictures and stories , they simply are fun to see and very helpful to confirm what is original and are popular add on items. Here is mine, in 1995 I got my first car was a 1972 240Z(originaly 112 yellow) for my 26th birthday from a gentleman in California. He bought this car at Wally Tucker DATSUN ,700 Baker Street, Bakersfield CA. The car is HLS30-67518, 02/72. When I saw this car, it was light blue metallic already, I fell in love instantly. Spent only 5months with this car,I returned him the car the day just before my returning flight to Japan .I could not afford to own the car in Japan at that time. kats

When I was new here, I believe my very first post was for Parking light switch which he was after. That was in Dec 2002, I still remember he was excited about my offer and I was very happy that I was accepted in this wonderful Z car community by him. May you rest in peace , Enrique. kats

Genuine PS30-SB 'Fairlady Z432-R' refresh story in Gallery
Hi Chris, I think I am not answering for your question, but I show you my PZR spring set. Long time ago, there was an article about Z432-R on "Car Magazine No. 204 Jun 1995" in Japan, a journalist said "it seems to me something odd to see the same part number for PZ and PZR about front spring, PZ's left front is used for PZR's right front, I guess it is just a mistake of listing in the book. PZR should have PZR-only part number for all the suspension springs... " But this is not right, it is not mistake at all. Engineers wanted to have PZR's spring got lowered, so it is natural to have tested various combination of springs. Finally they found and settled down to use of normal Z432's left spring (shorter than its right spring) for PZR's right spring. Anyway, when the car was prepared for racing, they had got there spring modified more competetive special version. It is unique, if you place an order to local Nissan as an owner of PZ ( Z432), you will get 54010-E4202 as a "spring front LH", on the other hand,if you place an order as an owner of PZR ( Z432-R) , you will get same part number as a "spring front RH" on the tag. Please see the attached pictures, first one showing they are all for Z432-R. Other 3 springs have E7200, exactly specific part number for PZR. Second one is a comparison between PZ and PZR rear spring. All PZR springs have same ratio as a PZ (1.8 for front / 2.0 for rear, not so hard!) While PZR's front springs are shorter than PZ, PZR's rear springs are slightly longer than PZ, as it has a big gas tank (100 litter) , when the car is full of gas, it sits lower than PZ. But you can see my PZR rear springs are shorter than PZ , is it just a result of bad quality control? Last picture is from Car Magazine No.204.The car is famous in Japan But some years ago the owner traded the car with a Lamborghini Diablo:cry: Seems he could not forget about PZR, he bought a new PZR (very rough condition ,his exs PZR was a lot better) again. kats

Hello geezer, I have never seen PB=PZR before I saw your catalog ,that is very interesting. I have 03/1970 and 03/1972 catalog, 03/1970 does not carry any Z432R parts while 03/1972 does. I found the difference between yours and my 1972, there are Japanese discriptions on top of the english parts name can be seen on mine. And mine does not indicate OPT parts for the gas tank. 03/1972 catalog is a very small, just like a bible size. It is very useful, I can bring this anywhere I go for shopping. Thakn you geezer:) kats

Reproduction S30 parts NLA.......
Hello Mike, I think quite good number of early S30 owners want the plastic clip for the earliest inspection lid 10/69 to mid 70. I have got some repro from my friend but I wish I could have exact same material like an original, cleam-clear (bit see through) . Also I think some of us want plastic seat bottom side cover (bolster) for early cars. kats
