  1. Will you please call my Mom? I just spent 2 hours putting a $150 alternator on her American junk, Sunday 93 degrees to boot. But she's going to dog sit while I go to ZCON so I owe her, hell I owe her my life.
  2. I've done 2. Quart of Red Kote liner $30, gallon of muriatic acid $5, quart of acetone $10, 4 boxes of baking soda $2. Leaf blower I have already and I get empty 5 gallon buckets for free. Drop the tank one day, clean and seal the next. Takes about a week for the Red Kote to cure. Here's what gave me the confidence to do it, http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/fuel/gastank/index.htm Read this and you'll get an idea of what I did, http://damonq.com/techsheets/red-kote.pdf
  3. Well I'll be a SOB! $99 for stainless from z car depot, that's for me, screw the tumbler. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-240Z-260Z-280Z-ZX-L24-L26-L28-Stainless-Steel-Engine-Bolt-Fastener-Kit-SS-/321791435210?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368 Just bought that, thanks for jarring my head out of my arse.
  4. That is sorta crazy, "NOTE: Do not install the oil slinger" no explanation why not. I've read that somehow all the oil lowers your RPMs from the strain on the oil pump.
  5. I've read they're noisy and move around. I read a review from a smart fellow that says put it in a plastic milk crate wedged in a corner with some weight around it. I've got an outbuilding with power for the noise. When my next HF flier comes in and I can get the 20% coupon, I'm buying one. It'll be about $42 plus the green plastic media. They're $52.99 straight purchase price.
  6. That sucks, but at least it's not the rear seal. Is it still flush with the front cover? Are those 2 bolts that go through the cylinder head into the front cover in, maybe that could cause the cover to get uneven? For what it's worth, I don't have an oil slinger on my 280 and it doesn't leak. "How to Modify" page 93 says don't install one.
  7. Here's the module on a '77, thanks Blue. Passenger's side, left of the fuse panel.
  8. If she has red hoses in/out of the pump I'd bet it's not the OE Bosch. Jai, when you remove the right rear tire for placement of the clear filter take a picture of the pump, it may be a cheapo off e-bait and switch. Why in the world would someone put that red heater hose, I'm guessing, all the way back at the pump? I've only seen red hose on inboard boat motors. That would be inline with a car coming from Miami, some boat mechanic may have done that. I've had old coils overheat from lack of oil, you can shake one and hear if it's not full.
  9. Removed the steering rack for paint and new boots today. Realized I can't move it outside to wash down the engine bay and paint what I can get to so I made temporary steering rack.
  10. HaHaHa! I'll bring my big ole golfing umbrella for you. I'm not too sure I'll be attending the jetport show, walking on asphalt in the heat isn't my idea of a vacation. I'm wanting to see the Gibson guitar tour and Staxx Records. Albert King anything, I want to see. He lived and died in Memphis too. My neighbor says don't waste my money or time at Graceland, it's a joke according to her.
  11. That's great Steve! I can't wait to see that bad boy.
  12. Thank You. I'll read up on the ultrasonic cleaner too. From the reviews on the tumbler, actually a shaker in my opinion, use the green plastic for removing rust then redo with glass beads for a new looking bolt.
  13. Definately I'll post my pictures when I get home. Mom's house/dog sitting and has to have my laptop while she's here, she stays online as much as her teenage granddaughters. I'm going to get another memory stick for my old Sony. Water's for flowers! and Crown Royal
  14. Fortunately I had to google that.
  15. Yeah, I'm going to drive 2 this morning just not to Memphis. Mine are UN restored and the Camry is so much more comfortable for road trips.
  16. Well? We're anxiously waiting.
  17. If they have a class for Camrys. Half of my motor is in my guest bedroom along with the exhaust and the hood.
  18. Anybody use one of these for cleaning rusty bolts? Which media works the best? Thanks Cliff
  19. Actually you only need to stop the flow from the tank, so just one clamp. Read through this; http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/fuel/g3filter/index.htm I'm sorry Jonathan, you're way is safer. I was typing while you posted. If you have a paint stir stick break off two pieces and put that in the jaws of your vise grips so it won't cut into the hose. If you could get a pieces of rubber hose over the jaws that would work too.
  20. What about using some copper tubing inside the hose, bent the way you need. Put it in an oven or use a heat gun to "form" it. I've never done that but how do the hose shops do it? Quick google came up with this off a Corvette forum; Re: How do I make custom-formed rubber hoses? (CentralCoaster) I don't think a heat gun will work very well. The heat is too hard to regulate. I have not tried this, but it should work. Slip the hose over some soft copper tubing. The copper tube should go thru the entire hose length. Use a little water/soap to make it slip on easier. Bend it to the shape you want then place in oven at 325 degrees for 10 minutes. Take it out and let it cool slowly. I am guessing on the temp / time here. Obviously, too hot or too long will totally melt it. Too little and it won't change shape. You may want to experiment with a small piece of hose at various temps and times to see what happens before doing the final part. I guess the right temp will be 325-400 degrees but check the temp rating. You may want to do this while the wife/significant other is out shopping (smell).
  21. The wood clamps I have were kinda spendy, maybe Jonathan is talking about "C" clamps? I remember one of your pictures you had on a walking cast, you probably have some hemostats that would work.
  22. I'm laughing my arse off! We're gonna have fun!
  23. “Ooh, ooh, Mista Kahta! Mista Kahta!” Umbrella Girls, $50 per hour. I could bring some girls from the restaurant, buy a few umbrellas and make some CASH.
  24. Surely they'll have a hanger or two opened up to get out of the sun for a few minutes. Probably restrooms and cold drinks too. If you have kakis and a polo on with some Ray-Ban Aviators you could get in the FBO and "check the weather", eat some doughnuts.
  25. Here's Pontiac Blue. Looks a little closer than Bud Lite Blue. 6 of one, half dozen of the other?
