  1. Yankey Mate ! https://vimeo.com/92801434
  2. on the frame rail as in the pics above. However, I found something new: It looks like at some point the first foot/foot and a half of the frame rail was cut off and rewelded. This would account for the newer radiator and horns. Could this be an early rust repair or an accident? Does it have a salvage title?
  3. In arizona thats a big minus. I used to wash my car inside the garage because it was too damn hot out in the az sun. Having to park good cars out in that sun really ruins the paint/upholstery fast. If it were me, i'de sell the impala and get cash. Point out all the work it needs and then offer this guy 5000-6000 and use the leftover to fix up the car.
  4. no, the driveshaft on the turbo is larger diameter so you would have to cut down a turbo zx driveshaft. BUT.. for your efforts you get a higher stall torque converter with lower first gear and stouter clutches. I was looking into this option on mine a couple years ago after my reverse started making popping noises. Datzenmike over on ratsun is the expert on jatco's. He's the person to ask if you're interested in using this trans. The L3N71B was only used on 82-83 280zx's so it may be more difficult to source.
  5. I love my automatic in heavy stop n go traffic. The jatco trans is very reliable. I've had one in mine since i bought the car in 98. However there is a weak area and thats the clutches for 2nd gear. You can test it by going about 30 mph and giving it enough gas to downshift. If you hear the engine revs go higher and then you feel a lag, its the 2nd gear clutches slipping. If its good you should feel an immediate seat of the pants snap when it downshifts. Another area is reverse. Put it into reverse and hit the gas with a small blip. If you hear or feel anything strange like a popping noise there could be problems with reverse. If you're concerned about it, pick up a good used zx turbo automatic with the lock up torque converter. It has a stouter clutch setup and a little bit lower rpm cruising on the freeway with the lockup.
  6. final price on #452 is $4800
  7. Will be fulfilled at least ONCE...
  8. No it means they've spent most/all of their lives in sunny calif and away from road salt
  9. Apparently Datsun parts LLC doesn't have any LD28 cranks to use. I just sold one to a guy in wash state that was having these guys build his engine. I sent the crank to this business. Hope they don't mess it up, it was a very nice crank. He wanted me to end my auction early because the builder needed the crank yesterday.
  10. "not bad" but not great. Depends on how much rust. So cal cars with blue plate(s) is a major plus. Engine and trans in at least one. I bet he would take 3000-3500 for both
  11. thats 2500 each. Not too bad. thats orange paint not rust. http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/cto/5072416835.html
  12. This usa LHD car is for sale in japan. Someone imported it and let it sit outside and rust. Looks like its been there quite a few years. I doubt anyone will bid on it. Probably will end up in the recycling yard. http://page16.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/u79436486
  13. My crystal ball says final selling price 4500
  14. When those first came out they had a price tag of $20,000 us. All aluminum body and frame so no rust issues from a 15 year old car. Not sure i'de trust that onboard mpg calculator. I use the cell phone app Gasmate to calculate more precisely how much fuel is used. I'm generating a surplus of solar electricity every month and thought about getting a hybrid and putting a secondary battery pack in with a plug in charger but im just too cheap to fork out what they want for one. If you get tired of the gutless motor and want more power, try the early 2000's Vw tdi's. They get 50+ mpg and are pretty peppy. The diesel smart car is supposed to get 70+ mpg but that thing looks like a death trap. The first gen insight always reminded me of the wacky space age car in woody allen's movie Sleeper.
  15. If you can afford a ferrari.... a 10k windshield is not a problem. The 6 month wait is though.
  16. That 70 got a very nice price of 25k. I wonder if these guys do a rhd conversion before they ship overseas. Probably not because it would bring the value down because of originality. "We do our own Resto Mods mainly for export back to New Zealand where our main business is located and have also exported to Australia, Europe, Canada, Taiwan and Japan. We have done a fair number of Jensens, Datsun's etc. for our customers" This is the business they do in Ca. http://www.motorgems.com/?p=2047 check out his barn finds section.
  17. that car looks like it spent its life in japan not oregon. lots of series 1 parts for sale though. the front end looks like it came from another car. edit: looks like almost every part is on yahoo and priced at 1000 円 he puts LA chop shops to shame yummy... series 1 console cheap http://page11.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n145000623
  18. I have a project in mind for that cheap rally clock. Take a look at my post on the end of this zombie thread. http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/23919-a-good-screw-just-isnt-enough-it-must-oscillate/page-3
  19. "If it has not been this successful bid, we will exhibit in June as part by dismantling." and... nobody bid on it... so.... apart it goes I've counted the skeletons (LHD dashboards) of a few usdm s30's under this guys id. You guys in oz really follow these auctions alot don't you? I saw a link on an s30 oz board that was to an auction that i had won on yahoo japan. He said that that rally clock without oscillator should go for 400 aud. Was that you? patcon is right. This is #854
