  1. ok, slap myself for using the wrong search words. This has been covered before. They came in the gloria. That intake manifold looks like a clifford research 4 barrel manifold.
  2. I have never seen this configuration on an L6 before. Must have been a real slug engine offered in the lower end cars. Hard to believe they're still floating around out there. Must have been sitting in the back of some warehouse covered in an inch of dust.
  3. I just recently bought a 1 knob calendar clock but the little plastic knob is missing. I've been searching the net and cannot find anything on people replacing their lost knobs. In my search for a missing knob I may have found a replacement. The 280zx quartz clock has a very similar knob. I haven't yet tried to fit the knob yet. It does look promising from the pictures. Keeping my fingers crossed
  4. whoa pick another font on your ebay ad. Thats like reading old dot matrix. That car is a desert cruiser. Tinted glass and a/c. Nitrous for those long straight stretches. I think the blow thru turbo setup would be tempermental in a colder climate. Rather have efi myself.
  5. apologies if this is a repost
  6. another one bites the dust. aint nothing left on this one thats worth saving. https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fpage10.auctions.yahoo.co.jp%2Fjp%2Fauction%2Fm132027649&edit-text=&act=url The state of the product: barbecue
  7. Is it possible that he put in different size valves? I've read where 81-83 valves are .080 shorter. Nah.. on second thought he probably used what was already in the head, even if it did need to be replaced. Somebody has a new apprentice?

Oh man you thought diesel smoke smell bad? can you imagine smelling the exhaust from this beast http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2014/11/21/poop-powered-bus-hits-british-roads/?intcmp=features
  9. thought some of you zx guys might like this. others will think its blasphemy. http://community.ratsun.net/topic/64040-720zx-time-to-finish-it/
  10. With the ceo of the company behind the wheel. Now thats what I call trust in the quality of your product and your employees who installed it. Notice he first aims for the boss. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8i5d5toEDk#t=96
  11. "factory brackets" ? I thought the factory brackets were for the hitachi compressor only? He wants to install a sanden 508. I've seen sanden brackets for both sides of the engine but the most plentiful is probably the one that goes under the air pump on the 240z. I think the four holes he is speaking about is the holes in the engine block located under the air pump. You can occasionally get these on ebay or you can make your own. The one i had that was from a kit looked fairly simple. If the four holes he's talking about is the old york mount and its still installed just get the york to sanden adapter. If you want to locate the compressor on the passenger side, you can find an old york mount and get an adapter plate for york to sanden. search ebay for "york to sanden conversion" For the money, this kit is the best option i've seen http://nostalgicac.com/compressors/compressors/sandenvbeltcomp/datsun-240z-260z-280z-compressor-upgrade-kit.html If you want to build you own here is half the work already done http://nostalgicac.com/mount-kits-pulleys/misc-compressor-mounts/universal-mount-kit.html Be aware that some of the sanden's out there are made in USA, Japan, Singapore and China
  12. How many microns is a paper filter? They now make Stainless mesh 10 micron
  13. part number is 80901n3600 and courtesy nissan may have them. They show $311 each.
  14. I've got a brand new pair. Still in factory plastic Im not sure what they're worth.
  15. Anyone try those reusable micro mesh fuel filters? Here is cut'n paste description from the ones they use on diesels but I know they make them for efi gasoline also. Paper just seems like a flimsy filter medium. Pure Power fuel filters for Cummins, Duramax, and Power Stroke-equipped trucks and SUVs are cleanable and reusable, ensuring you never have to buy a replacement filter. The reusable, deep-pleated filter media is assembled from dual-woven stainless steel and is simply washed with hot soapy water during the cleaning period. Debris removal and filtering improves as much as 90 percent compared to single-use fuel filters,
  16. Did you have the name of the company that did the plating work for you?
  17. Hopefully there is enough sticking up above the block surface that they can get a tool on it to extract it or weld on another bolt. My 78 also had a broken head bolt too. I bought a set of craftsman bolt extractors to get mine out. They're the kind that you hammer down over the top of the broken bolt and it cuts in. Then you just wrench it out. Fortunately i had about 1/2" sticking out above the block surface. I replaced the bolts with a set of turbo bolts for a little bit better clamping force and hopefully better elasticity. You're saving yourself alot of grief having the machine shop fix it.
  18. If you're going to drive it then i'de get tool that crimps the heater hose leading into the heater core. so if it pops while you're driving you can pinch it off. Then i'de get a gallon or 2 of water inside antifreeze bottles and store them behind the seats. Mine popped under the dash one nite and it was a hellish nite getting home. Now i carry 2 gallons in the car at all times.
  19. the guy that owned that is out of his mind. he thinks its a 240z:bunny: very nice. you've doubled your money with that one but holy crap... its already tried to kill you. Did the owner say anything about a curse on this car. It is blue you know... beware of the devil z
  20. Did you tear down the chinese sheetrock or is it still up? If you paid someone to install, tape and texture, that could get expensive real fast.
  21. Hey the germans are getting in on the cheap is better for profits too. I was shocked when i bought a new beetle. Rivets holding the ring gear on, rivets holding the 2 piece flywheel together, plastic interior parts that crack when breathed on, headliners that the fabric seperates from the cardboard liner..... and on and on. NOT what i was expecting from previously owning vw's built in the 60's and 70's. I use the made in china label as a great tool to keep my wife from buying crap that we don't need or will never use. yes she's a shopaholic but that stops her in her tracks EVERY time. Alot of those dollars sent to china are coming back as business investment dollars when the chinese business owner decides he has big enough nest egg and fears the govt will take it all away eventually in the next purge, he heads to the usa or canada to start a business there. Canada did essentially the same thing in 97 when hong kong was handed back to china. Many of the smart business owners fled WITH their money and started businesses in canada. With whats happening in hong kong now, they are probably really glad they fled.
  22. whenever I see "frame off restoration" I automatically think chevy or ford guy. Those mirrors scream to angry teenage vandals. TEAR ME OFF! Plusses so cal desert car, still has a datsun engine, most of the mods can be reversed. Tinting and lights scream to chp. PULL ME OVER.
  23. Battery box needs attention STAT
  24. did you rebuild the engine yourself? thats an F series with the shims under the crank caps right? i had a heluva time getting oil pressure in mine after i rebuilt it. this was my first engine i ever rebuilt. i didn't replace the oil pump. probably should have. i probably should google low oil pressure after rebuild fj40. its been bugging me for years what went wrong.
  25. hellfire and brimstone! this has turned into one big project. can you release a few bare bones boxes so that some of us can do our own tweaking?
