  1. I think you will find the center instrument finisher (vent and control cover panel) is to wide and does not tapper sufficiently to fit into the space on a 240Z dash. The map light that ocuppies the top position in the 240Z is also not compatible with the 260Z finisher. The contour also prevents the fittment of the 260Z map light. cheers steve:classic:
  2. I agree with Alfadog and go further it would have a shoe horn on the boot to get the driver in and out. I too hate the lights and would love to see a retro change the door handles same. My2c Steve:classic:
  3. I am running 2.5 pipe off a H&M Header set into a Hot Dog (read reasonator) just behind the gearbox and on to a glasspack at the rear. I got some reasonance problems in the last few months when I changed the glasspack at the rear. I even got the glasspack swapped off and a diffrent brand fitted the reasonance stayed. This all happened on a system I have had no problems with for years. I took it back to the shop for checks, for leaks and body clearance checks. My reasonance was at low RPM. I serviced the air flow meter and everything returned to normal no reasonance (perfect). "Sometimes we have to look out side the circle" my 2cents Good luck Steve :classic:
  4. That is an interesting mod on the forward mount. Is it similar to the mount the Zed Workshop in Brisbane is offering for sale. I would be interested in just how stable it is under load, hard to monitor though. I still have a strap on top tensioned down with a fresh lower mount, it is working for me but I am not producing big HP, I only run the standard Zed stick profiles. Good luck with the new moustache Bar, the drags should check it right out if you can stay consistant in your bracket. Cheers Steve :classic:
  5. If the out put wire is black it will piggy back black on E in this situation. Steve :classic:
  6. on page 146 of the haines manual fig 10.4 shows at the top the connect up position for the wiring. accepting that the two pin plug will just clip in, then at post A you should connect up wire white with red line. at post E you should connect up wire black. both A and E posts are clearly marked on the rear of the assembly. E is a bolt head, secure under. good luck steve:classic:
  7. Drunkenmaster, If you run your exhaust in standard position you should not need heat shielding in the tunnel area as far as heat transfer in the tunnel area I think this would be minimal. I still run the bitumas compound under the tunnel vynil and a 2.5 inch system. I am not to concerned with heat transfer at this stage. As far as adding externall shielding I think this would be a mistake, it would be one more place to trap moisture and set up corrosion points. Cheers Steve :classic:
  8. I was in Taree on the weekend just gone. Driving past the local NISSAN Dealer, we spotted a lone 350Z parked on the street infront of the dealership. The colour was spectacular it was dressed out in Le Mans Sunset, what a colour. When we returned from the other direction we spotted the same 350z with the lights on in traffic coming towards us with a potential customer doing some test driving ( trade plates on). That is the first one I have seen in that colour and it looked good. My 2c Steve :classic:
  9. Brett240, that failure sounds really odd. I must say that's a first I one I have heard of. To shatter the moustache bar, I would have expected a primary problem with an onset failure of the moustache bar as the secondary problem. Is your forward mount solid with no fractures around the attach point , have you replaced the tensioner strap or at least retentioned to suit the R200. Has your LSD failed iecaught a spare locking ring in the mechanism and locked up. With the exotic metal process, I would set up with another standard item and try again it could be the one in a million failure. If you go big bucks mod straight away you may be paying for something you dont need. Oh and what kind of power where you applying at the time, I know I get a lot of cork screw under max power this transfers to shear load thru the moustache bar. Good luck Steve:classic:
  10. Hi George, I am a bit late here, lots of great ideas so far. For the areas of Silver paint I recommend a small tin of wheel silver from your local car painters this mix is a bright mix that lends itself well to the smaller jobs with "nail brushes" let the paint shop know your intention and they can adjust the mix a little for brush painting, if you get it off the shelf you may have to do two coats. you will get the affect you are after. for the door trim silver strips I recommend the silver painters tape it is used when sealing areas to be stripped of paint. When correctly applied to the panel it comes up like factory new.
  11. The paint job looks fantastic, and the colour appears to come through very bright. Cant wait to see the fully assembled photos. Good luck with the build. Steve :classic:
  12. Ozzy Guy, Thats a smart looking Zed but I think it is 918 Kalahari Tan. on the external I think this is the colour Bronze Cheers Steve:classic:
  13. I like some of the Corvette's, but I could not entertain the idea of this plastic no matter what the colour. Cheers Steve:sick:
  14. Thanks for that Ozzy Guy, I just hope I am near Sydney for the next Nationals. 93 was my last, also hosted by the Sydney Zed club. Cheers Steve:classic:
  15. Okay, so Sydney gets the show in 2005. who gets the show next year, Perth Adelaide or Darwin???? Wife wants to book our accommodation and I need to know where to ship all my bits too.
  16. Z Kid, I have not seen or heard of this manifold, does it look or flow as good as a Dat-Rally, or is 40MM max allowable inside diam. does it use insulators. Is there any pics around. Sorry more questions than answers. good luck Steve:classic:
  17. Hi there Mike Hill , you should find the item you are after, in the lower thermostat housing. the thermal transmitter should have yellow coloured wire attached and the Water Temprature switch should have a white coloured wire attached. You may also find that your set up does not run what you are looking for you may find your management system is using a cylinder head temp prode. I suggest taking a look at the thermostat housing if you have two positions with wires. Cheers Steve :classic:

Trex, Hi I find it very interesting that you have Zeds in KL, but only a very small group. Did your Zeds enter Malaysia via personal import, or did nissan deliver them in KL. Do you have any idea of the age of the Zeds in your group, I am aware they are probably all export RH drive HS30 coupes. I would love to hear what the numbers are and the types ie origin / breakup is by production year or anythoing else you can tell about your group would be great to hear. Cheers Steve :classic:
  19. How good is your shell, would you be better off chasing a top line complete Zed. I thought Melbourne had a good Zed network for chasing parts and cars at both ends of the spectrum. Carlos at Sportclassic in Sydney has a large range of stock from complete running down to small bit parts maybe you should give him a call. cheers Steve :classic:
  20. I just thought I can add something here. The 260Z coupe all the vinyl and plastics in the rear of the turret the roof and the soft linings are basically the same as the 240Z with only minor changes for the additional equipment. Why not source a whole interior from the states or use the new repo plastics and vinyls to get a show finnish. Good luck with the hunt Steve :classic:
  21. Has anyone in Sydney had a look at this Zed yet. Page 121 of this weeks Sydney Trading Post 17 April 2003. Datsun 240Z excellent condition hardly driven always garaged red manual new carpets seats classic $6000.00 GLENHAVEN. Picture shows bumper mounted indicators bikini spoiler performance kidney mags and good general appearance. cheers Steve:classic:
  22. You got to be putting us on. that Zed is 70/71 and an auto. Love the 240k GL steering wheel. it looks like the suspension would be super affective to. my2c Steve:classic:
  23. It sounds like the pressure side of your fuel system has sprung a leak. Check the fuel rail on the engine all around the little rubber hoses, check the other lines in the engine bay right back to the tunnel failing that keep checking back. it may be a pump external fail as well. I hope it is easily visible because it is dangerous if im right. good luck Steve:classic:
  24. Hi Luke, I must say it looks like Tokico are thin on the ground here, sorry cant offer an agents address but this thread will give you some more insight into the shock debate. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5969&highlight=tokico For my money, and your in Brissy get allong to the Nationals events if you can, you are bound to meet some great people. good luck Steve:classic:
