  1. Hi guys, I had an hour or so to do some thinking on this issue and here's what I've decided to do. I don't think it's fair to censor individual posts. From now on, I am going to avoid removing individual posts. Instead, if a thread has gone "bad" (like this one), I will reserve the right to remove or lock the ENTIRE thread. There will be exceptions to this case I'm sure, but, this should make it easier on all of us. What does this mean? It means YOU now have control. If you don't think a topic should be removed, then it's up to YOU to keep it on topic (avoiding flame wars). If someone is causing a problem and standing out, report the post to me. The more complaints I receive the faster I will give a warning to that user. OK? I have re-enabled the posts that were hidden in this thread, to remain as an example.
  2. I only delete entirely off-topic posts or ones that I receive complaints. Please send me your complaints and I'll take a look at it. Zed Head, I tend to also remove your posts because you have a way of dominating a conversation by posting too many replies. May I suggest that you rationalize your thoughts about a topic and submit a single post with your information? Lastly, I do not tolerate trolling. If you need a definition, please look here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll One of our former members, Enrique (escanlon) put together a very good terms and conditions for our site and I think it hits home right now. Please take a look and remember, he died at a very early age. I cannot see him, talk to him, nor can I insult or thank him. He would appreciate this thread I'm sure. When you guys are beating each other over the head, remember "life is short." Treat each other with respect because you don't know if you'll see that guy again. Mike
  3. Hey guys, this is a great argument but can you carry on a healthy conversation? This means no direct attacks to a person (or persons). Argue all you want about the CAR or the crazy prices they are asking (for this car especially). Thanks. m
  4. Hey guys, yes I've unbiasedly hidden a few posts in this thread. Please keep in mind that any post should be on-topic and not intended to attack or cause a fight (trolling). Please consider that I have a life and cannot police all topics and posts. I only focus on the posts that are a violation of our ethics and conditions of use. For instance, I cannot stop someone from being an arse, but, I can stop them from violating the rules. I don't have preference for anyone on this site, but, I do want to make sure the overall subject matter remains on topic. And, if you are typing something and think a keyboard and a monitor are enough to protect you from a punch in the nose, please don't post it. Lastly, please don't take our site into the realm of zcar.com land. Ad revenue might increase as more people jump into the fight, but, I really don't want our little place in history to be known as an unfriendly place. This would devastate me because I've managed to keep this place going for over 20 years. Thanks, Mike

But, I still keep wondering about the momentary thing. An alarm is either on or off. Maybe it's a kill switch for a motion detection device? Meaning, if you wanted to set your alarm, but, disable the motion detection.. (I had a BMW that used to always alarm while I was on a ferry boat, only later did I figure out you can set the alarm to ignore the motion detection)
  6. Salvage title probably isn't an issue on a classic unless you want to restore and sell it for top dollar. But, for a fun project, it shouldn't be a deterrent. I typically shy away from salvage titles on newer cars because it affects the resale opportunities. m

I just noticed that you said it was a momentary switch. This is curious because I cannot think of anything that would require turning on only for a few seconds, especially by the passenger.

It's definitely not stock. Before ripping it out can you trace the wires to see where they go? I doubt it's ignition kill because it would be hard to reach across the seats to get to it, but who knows what the PO was thinking.
  9. Has anyone considered this kind of solution? Seems like a very simple theft deterrent. However, I would think disconnecting the battery totally would cause memory loss on any electronics in the cabin.
  10. I just ran across a cool device put together by a fellow Datsun fanatic. @ron carter is the sales director for this company that provides a GPS tracking system for classic cars. Check it out! http://www.geoskyalert.com/
  11. Nice! I love that prices are going up. My dream is to have a cross-flow head.
  12. Hey, welcome!! What auction did you purchase the car? Send us a few pics...
  13. Welcome to the club!
  14. Wow, this is probably one of the ultimate thread digs. 10 years ago, and coming back from the dead!
  15. Great! I always wondered how the automatic performs in the early cars. I've never driven one. Hey I noticed you're on Tapatalk. It's a nice program for viewing the forums, but, if you want to visit our gallery, garages, and other things you may want to check us out using your computer (or tablet). I'd like to see more pics of your car if you get a chance. Edit: You could always upload a bunch of pics to this topic in the forums too. I believe Tapatalk will allow you to do this. We also have our own app. Do a search for Classic Zcar Club in the app store.

Looks good, but, I'm wondering if the ends of that K-clip will cause wear on the cloth belt? Have you done some searching to see if you can find a retaining ring that will fit ? Something like the one below.
  17. Mike, is this your new car? Just trying to place the car because I think there were three on auction.
  18. Welcome to the club! So glad to see you on here after winning the auction. Feel free to roam around and use the search tool in case you ever need to look up something. We have quite a lot of archived information here so you're in the right place. Take a look at the garage area and upload a few pics of your new toy to our gallery. Anyway, welcome to Z-ownership, it's an extremely rewarding hobby. I know I love it.
  19. Thanks for letting me know. I looked for the broadcast on Youtube but it hasn't been posted yet.
  20. This may be the Z's they were discussing from the auction. I'm trying to see if I can find the broadcast somewhere. https://www.mecum.com/lots/CA0816-244296/1971-datsun-240z-coupe/ https://www.mecum.com/lots/CA0816-244606/1973-datsun-240z-coupe/
  21. Awesome! Any idea who it was that gave us a shout-out?
  22. By the way, per this discussion I decided to add a new forum to the list called "Heat & Air Conditioning" on your behalf, Jai. I moved a bunch of other A/C related threads into this forum. You can also do a search to find other posts related to A/C in case I missed any. Click here to search our site for the words "air conditioning" for example.
