  1. The question of the definition of "friction modified" has come up before. The label doesn't say "modifier" it says modified. So, not the same as friction modifier for a clutch type limited slip differential, which is modifying the slippage between clutch discs, not synchro rings. Besides that "modified" just means different. It doesn't really say which way or how the modification is happening. But, besides all that, and what "friction modified" actually means it just boils down to the fact that people have tried it and compared it to the "normal" transmission oils and it works a lot better in removing the poor synchro perfromance. Redline MT90, Synchromesh, and Synchromesh Friction-modified all work very well. Also, Swepco 201 blended with ATF works very well also. Better than Valvoline 80W-90 manual transmission fluid. I don't think that anyone really knows exactly why one works better than another. It's magic.
  2. Are you looking at the AC chapter? The hoses actually have small labels taped to them with letters that show where they go.
  3. Found a video if you decide to dig in to them. This guy posted here for a while but now has his own web page. Some pretty good stuff on it. http://woodworkerb.com/home/datsun-240z-rebuild/datsun-240z-mechanical-fuel-pump-rebuild/
  4. Found a dyno run with numbers, in the title. Apparently it's the factory system. But he doesn't show the numbers with the FAST system. Don't know why he doesn't put it on the web site page. He has a bunch of videos on his account. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAvjCjvssZ_1BcTC1Rdx69A/videos
  5. Here are his youtube videos. They're half off the page on my computer on his web page so I thought I'd link them here to make it easy. It will produce an engine that runs. 8 seconds of engine noise. No dyno sheet. Installing...
  6. There's an old discussion about it on the forum. People wanted to see an engine with the system installed and the engine running, maybe even a driving video. Never heard back. Basically, it looks neat but there's no evidence about how it will actually do with the L6. It might be as bad as the L-Jet system with a big cam. Who knows, no way to be sure. If I was marketing that system I'd install it on an engine with a big cam to show what it can do, and make a video to prove it. Found it -
  7. EuroDat explained it in the post below. There's a spring inside the 280Z style slave cylinder that takes up all of the play at the clutch fork. It can't apply much force, it's a small spring, but it is there and it does work. If I was checking that theory out I'd crawl or reach under the car with the engine running and move the fork away from the pressure plate by hand. You can reach it from the engine bay also. You might have to have someone sit in the car to listen since the noise is amplified in the cabin. Here's the FSM drawing. I put a red dot under one of the spring coils.
  8. I think that this was a good idea, below, and it's telling about the valve quality. Maybe you can find an old Nikki pump. Pretty common to have to fix new aftermarket parts.
  9. Does the filter run dry while the engine is running?

You can't make this stuff up, it's real. Live and Let Die. It's not even the McCartney version.
  11. I think that the heart of the problem might be the bad valving. Have you checked pressure, and capacity?

We're back to 2000 deaths. And the WH is shutting down or minimizing the task force, apparently. This is the new normal. It's part of the background noise now. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

Here's an area where you might be able to actually have an impact. In your back yard. Get out the vote! Stir things up. https://www.spencerfernando.com/2019/12/18/while-trudeau-government-eliminates-canadian-coal-industry-federal-agency-invests-141-million-in-chinas-coal-industry-blacklocks/

Stop posting the pointless videos. See my edited response above your reply. Assembled in USA or all parts made in USA? Let's check that out.

But you'll still take the paycheck for traveling to China for work? Nothing you own was made in China? But, back to the original question, modified - what response are you expecting from your videos? The virus is here, no matter where it came from. How will knowing where it came from affect any of a person's actions? It won't change the hot spots. It won't change the need to wear a face covering. It won't change "stay at home" orders. It won't change any planning a person might be doing. Nothing will change "on the ground"' here in the US, or anywhere in the world.
  16. You might try some experiments, moving the lever by hand, to see when in the stroke the pump actually moves fuel. There might be too much play at the beginning of the stroke. Could also be that the leaky valves inside allow too much fuel past on each stroke. If the problem is play, you could stack some gaskets to create a thinner spacer, to take up the play.

We're just having an absurdity contest... The truth is that the virus did come from animals, a bat-like humanoid. The flying monkeys in the Wizard of Oz were real, they were man's first attempt to create a flying human, experimenting on monkeys because their DNA is so close to humans. The bats that were used for the cross-breeding have escaped in the past, and now they've ended up in the Wuhan "wet" market. With proper nutrition certain COVID-19 patients will grow wings.

Here's an alternative conspiracy theory, that actually seems more plausible, to me anyway. Absorb all of the last three years in to your head and consider that maybe the virus IS man-made, but it was created in an American lab. Transported to China and released in a far away city there, with the goal of creating an epidemic, weakening China and bringing manufacturing back to America. Again. The Pompeo show is an effort to deflect attention away from the fact that the plan went awry and to provide cover in case some smart scientist discovers that it must be "man-made". Get ahead of the game. Much easier to believe that scenario, I think.

You should have watched some of Governor Cuomo's briefings early on. He often expressed amazement that everything that they needed was made in China. Ventilators, PPE, gloves...all of it. I worked for a large manufacturing company and almost all of our parts were made in Asia, many in China. I traveled to Asia and met a guy from Black and Decker doing the same thing I was - going to China to assist a contractor in making our products. All of our suppliers had plans in progress to build plants in China. And that was 12 years ago. 35 years ago people I knew in the tool and die industry were getting killed by "offhshore" tooling. It was cheaper to send your prints to Asia, have your tooling made, and have it shipped back than to have the local tool and die shop or in-house shop, make the tooling. For somebody who says that they travel to Asia a lot for work you don't seem to be accepting or understanding how the world of today works. We, the modern world's consumers, owe our luxurious life styles to the labor of the Asia population. China controls most of the world's manufacturing. None of the things that you suggested above will happen. "We" would have to give up too much. That's why nobody is paying any attention to Pompeo when he starts talking about the same thing. It doesn't matter, it really is a global economy and China is big part of the globe. If you really want to see something interesting, read these articles about Senator Mitch McConnell's wife, Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao. They'll give you that queasy sick feeling. Now try to imagine how any of the things you suggested will possibly happen. https://www.politico.com/story/2018/05/06/elaine-chao-father-james-transportation-department-569686 https://www.salon.com/2019/06/12/mitch-mcconnell-and-elaine-chaos-empire-of-corruption-is-this-what-normal-looks-like-joe-biden/
  20. Learn to enjoy the noises(s). As soon as you remove one you'll notice another. Coming up: diff howl, 3rd gear whine, rocker ticking, injector noise, mustache bar clunking.
  21. Your cam is "bigger" than Jeff G 78's cam. The odds are against you. Jeff G knows his engines. Here's your cam specs. Racing Cam Stage III Intake 36-74 Exhaust 74-36 Valve Lift 0.490 Valve Lash Cold 0.010/.012 Advertised Duration 290 0.050 Duration 242 Here's Jeff G 78"s post. "I tried it - twice. The first time was circa 1997 with a L28 at 9.83:1 CR and a street cam. The engine was fresh and the car ran like crap. It had low power, wouldn't idle and was simply a disaster. Since the engine was new and the EFI a bit untested, I removed the cam and related components and returned the engine to a stock cam. It ran great and I was able to enjoy the car. The performance cam sat on a shelf for a decade or so. My Z was running great and was well-sorted, so I figured that I would try again. I installed the same cam and related parts back into the engine and got the same result. I tried to tune it, but it didn't make enough vacuum to keep the L-Jet happy. I once again pulled the cam springs and rockers and went back to stock. I then installed that cam into my SU carbed L28 racecar and it runs like a dream. It was everything I had hoped for in my street car. Both engines are very similar other than the fuel systems. You can try it, but many have the same results as me. L-Jet simply doesn't like low vacuum. For reference, my cam is a Web Racing Grind 91 with .450 lift and 260 duration"

You're avoiding the question - what will anyone do if it is found that the virus came from a China lab and is man-made? Describe an action that would be taken. Anything, keep it simple. One simple thing that will change if the virus came from a lab in Wuhan. No need for a video or three, just your words. Forward thinking, not backward. Something constructive, that might make things better.
  23. The fuel pressure behavior is normal. 40 is higher than spec., which is 36.3. The mixture would be rich which might cause some problems. But the vacuum leak should have helped that. Why is "blipping the throttle" important? It looks like everything is working right. Here's the thread about big cams and EFI -

Here's another perspective, a scenario. China confesses that they were developing a virus, for potential use as a military weapon, it got loose and caused the pandemic. What changes in anyone's response? Nothing. China is huge and controls world manufacturing. What is anyone going to do?
