  1. I grew up racing road bikes, so I'm used to 100PSI tires and feeling every little seam in the road. I agree that using the rubber bushings for the strut rod is a good thing for regular driving.
  2. I grabbed a relay box from a modern car at the JY. I think it was from an Altima. It has some relays and a couple circuit breakers in it, so you could use it for a few things besides headlamps, and it doesn't look like a homebrew setup wit the nice cover. I cut it out with a foot or so of wires. I think I will use one relay for a set of driving lamps. If a relay goes bad, you can probably get a new one easily. Didn't Sarah (FastWoman) put the relays on her '78? I think she also posted a diagram of the wiring.
  3. I used the Eibach & tokiko stuff, and mine came out nice. The car was back to level and about an inch lower.
  4. I thought you were thinking of the drivers...
  5. To know if a black engine bay is covering up something, you'd have to look closely at the rest of the vehicle. For a DD, undercoating would be great. But for a sporty car driven occasionally or for show, undercoating works against you.
  6. What would it be hiding?

The last time (2012) I think a Danish club went there and had a live video feed the whole weekend. I'd like to see it again this year, if there is one. Le Mans Classic : index
  8. Hiya Cap'n... I'm replacing my fuel pump for safety's sake, and I believe the new one has a check valve, but I'm going to go through this thread later when I have an hour to kill. Rossiz- I get the same looks and attitude when I go to the dealer for something. If you don't know EXACTLY the part number, and it's not something they usually stock, then you can see they instantly try to brush you off, unless the person knows you. Especially if it's not the same make (Audi parts for your DATSUN!????)
  9. Here's a question for you gadget-junkies: If you were going to carry sockets in a tool roll like this, how would you keep them from falling out or getting lost? You could probably use the usual metal, snap-on type socket holder, but is there a tube with caps that you could buy? I think it would begreat to keep the water off the sockets.
  10. OK, I'm going to presume there is no interest in getting the eBay seller of the Datsun- embroidered tool roll to make us a quantity at a discount. If you are interested nevertheless, please contact the eBay seller, Cmillinix.
  11. I wish I could say that about my area, Zedy-wan. Around here, you have to have a triple-chromed (intake, carb, alternator, a/c) Chevy V-8 in your (Model T!) or you won't get enough votes for last place. Plus chromed engine bay, and all the other usual blingy stuff like louvers and "candy-apple" or flames. I don't have the tripples, but most parts on my engine are polished or chrome-"painted" and the best I get is a good look by people that already know what the car is about. I'll try some cavilino emblems, maybe. Personally, I'd be happy to check out any straight-6 that's been done to-the-nines, and there are two here that I know of. One's in a 60s Ford pickup and one is in a Maverick.
  12. I'd like to see a convention hosted in toronto! Just thunk of all the domestic beers you can drink without the high price of an import. It could offset the price of the trip.
  13. Let us introduce you to the Search system. Look for the box on the right near the top of any page.
  14. You went to Mid Ohio during the 2008 convention, Chris.
  15. I think he's right. The Zs were designed for the 150-200 HP L engines, not big-block engines, so if you put in a big engine, all you will do is spin the tires when you take off and skid when you stop (from a car I saw at autocross at the 2008 ZCON.) Having the correct engine in the Z makes the ride a lot better, safe and fun, instead of unpredictable and dangerous. Or would you like to add 2,000 LBs of dead-weight to go with your 343 bigblock?
  16. Remember that last year it was in Phoenix, which is not too close to "the coast."
  17. Them you'll be doing well with any stock S30 engine. I took the extra time and effort to go over every part and perfect it, and it paid off with better-than-stock performance and reliability. I wish I could do the same wit the 40-year-old wiring.
  18. To be fair to Z owners all over, not just the western U.S., you gotta move the convention from place to place.
  19. I always wonder why the left-coast people bother hosting the ZCON, when they also have the West-Coast Nationals? It seems like the same kind of event, and I hear they get more cars than the ZCON.
  20. Amen, Sarah. That's why I would really love to have something like a 1950s Ferarri Monza. It's got an engine with only 4 cylinders, but it's not 312 cylinders-worth of cool. I'd say the same for a Z with an L-series engine. It's probably not going to get you a trophy at a drag track, but you definitely won't need a trailer to get there! For our Mr. bsw- I'd suggest going with an early L24. they go pretty well, sound great, and they have a redline that will melt any modern engine.
  21. greg LeMond! (the old, retired guy with the gut and the bike)
  22. tastefully dunn, duffman.
  23. When I start my engine, it's quiet for about a minute, then gets louder for a couple minutes, the quiet again, then loud... I assume it's working correctly, because it's new. It seems like we should get the severe-duty thermal clutch, because it's supposed to spin at a lower RPM (20% of water pump speed.) Could you use one with a flex fan?
  24. there is more than just the two designs available. You can "Google" the idea and you get a number of matches: Datsun 240Z T-Shirt by datsun_240z Datsun 280Z Ringer T Tee Shirts from Zazzle.com Datsun 240Z White T-Shirt from Zazzle.com Datsun T-shirts, Shirts and Custom Datsun Clothing Live Vintage Gallery | Datsun Vintage, Drivers white T-Shirt. | Online Store Powered by Storenvy Datsun: T-Shirts & Hoodies | Redbubble Motorsport! 25. the Teespring design is certainly original, but on a T-shirt, I prefer something you can see from far off, like the CZCC design. Last year someone at MidOhio noticed it in the paddock and chased me down to say HI.
