  1. Whew! Two weeks to get a steering wheel pulled? Youse guys are awesome!
  2. If choke cables on Hitachis will help, check thru the photos on Ztherapy.com. What's on the car now?
  3. The thing I've found is the housing should take any gear but the orientation will need to change to accomadate the larger or smaller gear depending on the number of teeth. I know when I was dialing in the speedo on the Fridge w/the 3.9 rear end to the ZX box, I found the gear with the right number of teeth to make things right but had to cut a new locker slot in the mount to hold the correct orientation based on the new gear size. A gear with more teeth will be bigger and fewer teeth will get you a smaller gear. Once you get what you need for a gear and get in there, you'll see what this all means once you start rotating to get good gear contact, drive gear to driven gear.
  4. Duffman is talking about the speedo drive gear in the tranny housing. This was a good refresher post though. Went down and checked the one in my tool box. 18 tooth blue one. I know, doesn't count for sour owl feathers...... Seems like NISSAN supplied the last time I was looking.

Wow Manny, another Springer to help you set up tents and tables and chairs for the big do next summer, huh?
  6. If it's the factory whale tail, they are unobtanium. Uglier than home-made sin IMHO but rare..... Posting this for the 510 guys back east. Those front struts are a favorite upgrade for 510's
  7. "My pistons are squeaking"? Seriously? The domes require no lubrication. This is why, even at my age, I look forward to getting up every morning..... If you seriously think you have a problem, call me and i'll give you the number at the shop and you can call Steve.
  8. I'd say the best money you could spend would be with a good radiator shop to inspect, pressure test and repair your radiator. Even if you went out and bought a used one, you'd need to go through it anyway. Any of these systems, if you want reliability in your ride, should be taken back to square one before being put into service. A well done stock radiator will do most any cooling job for an L motored Z. Oh, and if after you are done, there are tattle tale tapes available that can stick to your thermostat housing that will show you exactly how hot that water has ever gotten. I have had it on my wagon for about 4 years now and has not seen hotter'n 190 ever.
  9. ZTherapy 503-587-9800 Steve Epperly the owner I believe still has a bunch of that injection take off stuff from cars he's converted to carbs so bits and pieces to complete your stuff should not be an issue. He may even have harnesses to replace yours if it's too FIBAR.....
  10. Johnny, You can spend a bunch of money with someone like Wayne Parker at Parker's Auto Electric or you can come by the shop and chat with some of the guys who are very proficient at debugging Datsun products. Call me and I can get you headed in the right direction. 503-587-9800
  11. Need more info.... Car will start in neutral? Car will start in gear? In gear it'll drive through the back of the garage? Guessing hydraulics are TU..... and not releasing the pressure plate.
  12. What's the aluminum scrap price currently? Seriously now, who needs a Fuel Injection manifold? Truly now, someone needs one, give me a call. We have them with nothing broken
  13. Tired old motors tend to see a drop in oil pressure as the temps come up. This is one of those things you worry about when it stops doing it..... Define the term "grimey" as it relates to those plugs. That term alone makes me think you'll fix the oil pressure situation when you do rings and bearing trying to fix "grimey' plugs.... Hyst saying.....
  14. Ask Brembo? Pedal Control? What does that mean? Just saying.....
  15. Don't forget the heat shield and insulators. How about an aircleaner?
  16. I know on 510s at this age you don't want full current loads to go thru the switch and it's aged harness. Zzzzz may be the same. Add in a relay that will be triggered by the switch wiring and send full load current thru that relay to the starter w/o going thru the switch. Any auto electric shop should find doing that task child's play.... Any and all of the above are good hints too. Corroded cables will carry lesser current and I believe will add to carbon build up in the solenoid on the starter. The more carbon on those contacts the more "clickey" you get.....
  17. Why are you guys getting so hyper about a $30 grand '72? Recent rumors are showing extremely high numbers for bone stock Zzzzz. Why just the other day I heard of a bone stock 280 valued at like $19 grand..... I'm sorry. Had to do something with the extra hour. That took up part of it, my sock drawer will take up the rest. Cheers.
  18. I run the billet stub stacks on my 46s just because chicks dig 'em.... www.aptfast.com Anything that will roll the air into the carb vs breaking it hard over that 90 degree edge will help.
  19. There are times that even I wish Grose Jets were still around. They were super simple and even though old Scott (over) sold them as the answer to a maidens prayer, they did work well, except on 4 cylinder engines.
  20. Having real trouble understanding your plug readings. Fronts are half brown half black (No idea what that means) and rears are all brown but soaking wet..... Do you have a choke cable set too tight of a choke nozzle stuck on? I'm done....
  21. Remove the aircleaner, start the engine let it idle. Pull the over flow tubes to the aircleaner off the float bowl lid nipples, keep a fire extinguisher handy and report back....
  22. What year car? What kind of carbs?
  23. Cleaning them out for what?
  24. Question: You're dropping the nozzles by hand to get the choking function to work. Do you have choke cables connected to the linkages on the sides of the carbs to do that? As often as not it's easy stuff that'll get ya..... Another thought: If you have choke cables attached to the carbs and the PO didn't modify the ends of the 260 choke cables at the carb end correctly that could be impeding their ability to function effectively. Shoot some pics and email them to me at Sales@ztherapy.com and I will be glad to assist. No way connected choke cables should not drop nozzles that can be dropped by hand, i.e. not varnished in place..... Other running issues to be adressed later. Most of which are covered in the JUST SUs DVD.
  25. My daily driver is 40 years old this year but was brand new in '03 built from a bare shell sitting on a pallet in my drive way. www.datsunsnw.org member rides for any who might care.... Anyway, this thread has gotten way too devoid of oxygen for me so by-by.....
