Another arrival today - various parts for repairing or replacing the wiring harness for Datsuns. The contents include most, if not all, of the parts to make a complete 240Z wiring harness, and have many leftover. I also ordered various sizes of shrink wrap, wiring harness tape, and a special crimping tool for the connectors in the kit.
  2. Charles, If your fuse box is toast, consider the MSA version with the spade fuses. I installed one with my resto. It was a good match with one exception - they did not have the two large female spade terminals, supplied butt connectors instead. I replaced those with spade terminals to match with the harness. Jim
  3. Not a very good pic but you might be able to make out the busted O rings on the piston . I’ve ordered some O rings . I will “ rebuild “ the prop valve and reinstall the MC with the lines routed properly

To put this to bed, I was able to use both left and right rear brake calipers from my parts car. I re-sealed them with the kits from Rockauto and they are doing just fine. Forgot to take pictures. That parts cars has payed off in dividends for sure. I've been diverting funds into the engine swap on my Civic so the free(or $20 in seals)repairs on the Z are most welcome.
  6. Hi Katz, Thanks for the information about jacks and wheel chocks not needing to be as close to month of car manufacture as I was thinking. I will expand my range to include earlier than before. I tried finding factory assembly footage on Youtube but didn't find any specifically showing late stages of assembly. I found a few seconds of footage where the seats were being installed in a 1973 car. Perhaps there is video footage to be found of assembly of 240z's and 510's in 1970-71? I am still puzzled by the half moon cuts in the bumpers. The mounting brackets have captured nuts - welded on that do not rotate. There there is no need for wrench there and the bolt attaches from inside (other side) of the body panel. Perhaps the half moon cuts allow a tool for pushing the brackets a little to help align with the hole in the body, so the bolt can fasten? I do not know. The brackets are somewhat easy to bend and move a bit.
  7. I had another thought about the brake check warning lamp switch. It could allow a transfer but I don't know why it would be one way. My first post was on target I think. The seals push one way and let fluid slip past the other way. Easy to check. Good luck.
  8. The ignition module is by the fuse box. They're expensive. I found an eBay ad with a picture but I have no idea where these guys would get new modules. Also don't know if the electronics still age when not used. Don't get carried away. Only posting this for the picture and for anyone else who might need one and want to take a gamble. Seems too cheap to be true. Put "NEW - OUT OF BOX Ignition Control Module For 1978 Datsun 280z 2.8L S30" in the eBay search box. https://www.ebay.com/
  9. Seems like the front seal is installed backward, or one of the middle seals. It's pushing fluid from the front of the cylinder to the back on the return stroke. Easier to imagine with a picture.
  10. That's not how the gauge works. As for an adapter, if you have a mechanical gauge with 1/8 NPT, you need an adapter like this: https://www.amazon.com/Dewhel-Female-Sensor-Adapter-Reducer/dp/B00V5Q6GME and a gauge like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08HRPSJSB
  11. I thought Jeff Beck but I was wrong. Cool song anyhow.
  12. In fact that is Takeuchi san's Z432-R, as used as a muse through the whole genesis of the RZ34 project, and debuted today on Nissan's Fairlady Z-themed stand at the 2023 Tokyo Auto Salon, paired with the RZ34 'Customised Proto' concept car:
