  1. Guide coat this afternoon This is what it looks like when you block. The dark spots are low and still need some work to be smooth
  2. I’m tempted to call and make an offer!

I don't think that not balancing is going to cause a failure. I just think it makes the motor rev smoother. I remember when my rear view mirror would vibrate when I really spooled up my Z. That was way back when I had one that ran...šŸ˜‰

I've been looking into radio options for my 73 240Z and found a company that will take your radio and update all the internals but maintain the original face plate, housing, etc. It will even maintain full function of the pushbutton presets. It's not cheap, but provides a lot of options that you can pick and choose. Options include, bluetooth, hands free phone, usb, flashdrive, mp3, etc. You will end up with a 180 watt 4 channel unit. I priced it for mine with all the options and the price was $550. The web site is: www.tech-retro.com. They have a good video on the site that demonstrates the unit and all the features. The actual work is performed through authorized dealers throughout the US. The one closest to me is in Chicago area. I've spoke to him several times and he's been very helpful, plus he's a car guy. 5. Excellent read and very helpful. Thanks! I’m going to replace the pump with a new one and implement these cushioning suggestions.
  6. Zed, Then I must have put that foam in there. It's been over 20 years since I had the diff out and I didn't remember. In any case I think the foam deteriorated to the point where it blocked the vent and I got a cover gasket leak. So today I put a new gasket on and, at least for now, I have an open vent. I'll see if it blows any gear oil out. Thanks for the prompt response, John
  7. I found a thread with EScanlon and Fastwoman's input. Electrical came natural to them it seems so here something to read until SteveJ replies.
  8. It's probably the switch itself and it's a very common problem. Lots of threads about these issues. Left is pretty common because the mechanics of the switch causes the contact end to be pushed up. Gravity and worn parts tend to pull the contact away or cause it not to fully engage.
  9. I would send a text, probably get a quicker response.
  10. Mine isn't noisy but they are known to get that way or so I've read. Here's a good read that might be helpful. Some tips on quietening one down. https://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/fuelpump/index.html
  11. I took a quick look at the parts diagrams and couldn't find the vacuum water cokk, so I can't help you with the part numbers. I can answer the other question, however... The water cokk is controlled by the temp slider lever allowing you to control the temperature of the heater core. The vacuum cokk shuts off ALL water to the core whenever the system is switched to A/C (regardless of the temp slider position). Once in this mode, the slider no longer controls the water through the core (since it's off completely), but instead controls the temperature switch that cycles the A/C compressor. So, yes... They are in series, but they serve two related, but different functions.
  12. It's my belief that Wix makes some of the best filters. They make the NAPA premium platinum oil filters. There are a few good videos on Youtube where people have cut open the filters to show how they're made. Wix was one of the best. Fram sucked.
