  1. You know, we all do it, browse through some marketplace, ebay, craigslist, Kijiji, looking for Datsun goodies, sometimes you find something interesting and you put it in your shopping cart for later. Gives you a chance to ask that eternal question, “Need” or “Want”…. Makes you feel like you’re in control of your purchases. Right… Anyway. Well I’ve done that on ebay lately, put a couple if items in my cart for “later”, A headliner for my latest 510 project, some key blanks for Z locks, etc. Both items were simple purchase, not auctions. Well, the key blanks were in the cart first and by themselves for about a week when I get this un-expected notification from ebay that the seller has given me an a special discount offer of 10% off if I agree to buy in the next little while. Interesting! Decided not to push the button just yet. Then after adding the head liner, about 3 days later I get a similar message about a discount offer of 11%! This one I jumped on, as I was just waiting to decide who to buy it from. (Goliners, respected well know Datsun headliner vendor, not a scam) So next time you want to buy something on Ebay, and you can wait a few days, put it in your cart and let it “ferment” there for a few days and see what happens! Maybe you’ll get a discount too!
  2. I believe the Seller said that the hatch had the vents, but he welded them shut. In Picture #109/157 on BAT - you can see the screws in the map light are not OEM like the ones at the bottom on the radio face plate. The map light was most likely replaced at some point in its life. I think that 3100 cars and two months before introduction of the Series II is too early to start transitioning any of the newer parts. The highest VIN we have found for a Series I was HLS30 20533 - it was a very original car with A/T. Had the non-hooded map light and rear deck vents.
  3. Note that clicking "watch item" triggers the same thing. The ebay platform has functionality for sellers and they are reaching out to people who have expressed interest - they are more qualified leads after all. Some sellers do, and some do not extend discounts.
  4. Stay strong. It will all work out.
  5. Also https://www.desertdatsuns.net and reach out to cgsheen on here
  6. Make me an offer. The set on the right was running within the last decade! I live near Toledo, OH, so delivery is possible.
  7. Hello, Long time member here, I've been busy with home renovations. I'm looking for singles or batches of OEM Datsun hose clamps. You know, with the round JIS screw heads. I'll buy anything from 1-1000 pieces. Rusty and dirty is just fine. Paypal ready, located in central Indiana. Here's a shot of my very first SU setup that I rebuilt myself. Sadly the 73 was totaled at the end of 2019.
  8. Based on the comments on the Chevelle website, there is a least anecdotal evidence that this product degrades over time. The problem, of course, is that 'over time' doesn't mean how long since date of purchase, but instead how long since date of manufacture. And the degradation process might depend on the storage conditions. A call to the manufacturer's support line might provide some better insights or guidance. Your side experiment with the spare piece of sheet metal will probably* indicate whether your particular batch is flawed (* but not necessarily, because the spraying conditions won't match the conditions that existed within your indoor booth re temp and humidity). Regardless of that outcome, I think that the safest route would be to write off what you have left and buy new. Unfortunately, the law of paint system mix-and-match says that you should go with the same manufacturer again, so that all of your layers are Nason. The comments on the Chevelle website provide some useful thoughts on how to determine whether the new batch is also flawed. Maybe there is more/better guidance available on other paint-and-restoration websites. Also, the manufacturer may have their own guidance for pre-application checks on their product. I had a similar outcome with a vinyl paint that I applied to a Z upholstery panel. Fixing the bad result was a PIA... but it was successful. Crappy way to start the holidays.
  9. I got no input into what went wrong, but just wanted to tell you that I feel for ya. Sorry it didn't go as planned.
  10. No tools needed to remove parts, just give the cars a good shake.
  11. 1 point
1993 - Chino Hills CA to Clinton MA. The top 240Z wasn't running at the time (and still isn't ...) - the hauler was parked at the bottom of the hill I lived on, and I was able to coast down the hill with enough momentum to get it onto the first ramp. From there, the driver worked it with hydraulics and ramp tilts to get it above the cab. Aside from some minor dings on the tail end of the Corvette, the cars arrived unscathed.
  12. Agreed. And wow... I never thought I would ever see a Z more disgusting than that rusty junk falling off the underside cars that Beverly Hills has on ebay. Unfortunately I was wrong. I think I'm gonna hurl.
  13. I know I said I wasn’t going to do work on the Z because of the holidays, but maybe this counts as holiday decorticating?😅 I felt the bay needed a splash of color
  14. Originally sunshine yellow from the factory. Sitting outside in a backyard didn't do it any favors... When your in that town John, take a look and see if it has the 2400 valve cover, buy just that for $200 and give him a spare Nissan OHC one of yours. Money in the bank.
  15. Very delinquent on posting these, but life has been pretty busy. We moved into our dream home in the foothills just north of Boise in early October. I had the garage floor epoxy coated before we moved in. Garage is almost 1500 sq-ft. Garage was epoxy coated by my friend who does this for a living so the price was quite reasonable. I pick up the four post lift next Tuesday. NewAge pro series cabinets arrive in January. Garage is coming along, but still filled with packing boxes. Here are a few pics.
  16. https://www.ebay.com/itm/224586811672?hash=item344a6ac918:g:HPAAAOSw3ZFfyTd8 These dents should buff right out and that rust needs a splash or rust inhibitor. It’s stuff like this that makes me wonder where things are going? Are cars going up in value that fast or is our money becoming progressively worthless? We bought a 2021 Suburban one year ago at about 6k under the sticker MSRP. About 6 weeks ago the dealership called us and said they’d be willing to offer us MSRP for the car. When I went online to look at similar vehicles they were goin for at 9k above MSRP. Someone slap me and wake me up?
  17. I made a test panel today. Pulled an old junk hood out of the yard. Covered in green funk. Scrubbed it with warm soapy water, degrease, wet sand at 600, then sealer. Still have some funk in the sealer but maybe not as much So I spent over an hour at finishmasters today. The general consensus is the sealer wasn't mixed enough but we can't account for the specs. He did some testing on the can but it didn't show a problem. It's possible the catalyst is going bad. Either way I'm not going to use any more of the sealer going forward. I will use white base coat like I originally did. The bad news is all of the white sealer needs to come off. It's not very thick but it's hard! I've already cut through in some areas and my blocking is already ruined in many areas. So I won't have a car ready for Zcon this year 😞 I have pushed pretty hard this fall to get the car ready for paint and now I have 60-100 hours of sanding to get back to GO. Then I will need to reprime, block, retape, rebuild the booth, etc. Pretty demoralizing...
