  1. This are exact pictures of the tank+
  2. I made a pdf with a lot of this info 4 or 5 years ago. I'll have a look for it and see if it needs updating and upload it to the tech section. It had all the clutch part numbers and most of the dimensions.
  3. You should to do the measurements with the pressureplate off the flywheel. On a flat workbench is fine. Place the throw out bearing with collar on the pressure plate fingers and measure the height from the clutch fork tabs to bench top. If the pressure plate is fitted and compressed it will have a different height.
  4. Hmmm. Good thought. It might be close. I continued with the sound deadening mat today. Unfortunately, one of my packets of OEM stuff had only one sheet inside instead of two like it was supposed to. Too late to do anything about that, as I have had it for maybe a year now. I will have to order another two pack and hope it is still available. Damplifier Second Skin being installed - seam sealer applied to crevices between individual pieces. I did not use the heat gun for these pieces as they have a thick foil layer on top. I used a roller with a hard rubber wheel to conform the sheets to the metal. OEM bitumen material put on top. You can see the difference as the logos are present on the foil, but obviously not on the OEM stuff. I cut the bitumen about a 1/16" of an inch larger than the pattern which ensures that the piece underneath doesn't show. The bitumen shapes nicely with the heat gun - looks better than the foil with the wrinkles.
  5. I happened to come across this pic while researching (again) pics of 901 silver. This picture illustrates what I am seeking to avoid the final look of the "belt" line of the car. High resolution pic available: When you examine the body line closely, you can see that it varies both in direction and in sharpness. At its origination point at the fender, it is a bit soft (instead of sharp). As you move your sight from there towards the back of the fender, the line sharpens and then softens at the rear fender edge. Moving onto the door, the first couple inches is soft and actually moved down. Then you can see the line move up and down along the door. That stuff is what I am looking to avoid.
  6. The mast will come apart the tip of the antenna is screwed on take that off and you can slide the attenna apart. The threads are small so use a little heat on the tip to loosen a little. I took mine apart to replace the string see the link.
  7. Ah, I think my picture just wasn't clear. I updated the drawing to make it more apparent that the measurements are from the fork surface of the ears to the edge of the throwout bearing surface (see red markup). Unless I'm still having trouble getting this concept through my thick skull, I think these are the relevant numbers. Yeah that makes sense, I'm betting zcarsource just sent me a 75-83 Z/ZX plate, as it measures ~44mm from the bench to the springs. According to my chart below, my best bet is the corresponding 75-83 Z/ZX collar which should get me up to 44 (plate) + 42 (collar) = 86mm. It's not quite 92, but add a few mm for the extra bit of bearing that sticks over and a few mm for my sloppy image measurements, and I think it may just work.
  8. Man, it has been a long time since I have read such a stream of negative comments in an enthusiast thread. Someone here needs to write their own book.
  9. Funny, I wrote almost the same thing 7 years ago? Unfortunately a lot of people measure these collars in a why that makes no sense now. The most important measurement is the 92mm from the flywheel surface of the pressure plate to the contact point for the clutch fork. Those collar measurements you see 32, 42, 38 and 41 are not very handy to you because they measure the total length from the throwout bearing shoulder. They measure past the tab for the clutch fork. You can figure out what you need with some calculating and refering to the one you have. You can measure your pressure plate with the throwout bearing and collar and see how far off 92mm you are. Note the difference between your measurement and 92mm. Then measure your collar like in the photo with 32, 42, 38 and 41mm. Example: If you measure 82mm. That is 10mm short. Then measure your collar at 32mm. You will need the 42mm collar. Most aftermarket clutchs are based on the 75-83 280Z ZX couple clutches with that pressure plate. ALL this information is related to the pressure plate height. The picture of all the different collars I posted is very old and explained where all these different heights came from. The problem these days is there are so many Zeds running around with non original clutches and therefore no real relation to the A, B etc trnasmissions.
  10. It’s on the shelf next to the DDT and the 99% DEET Off... Welcome to Canada.
  11. @HS30-H reading between the lines, i'm guessing you're not a fan?
  12. My, we have a lot of criticisms here. I appreciate the clarity. I did my research with the help of Nissan's library and lots of interviews. If there are issues, I am taking notes. Yes, the Datsun Z432 name was an error, but I think "15 years of mistakes" is a bit harsh, HS30-H. Write your own book, then.
  13. Datsun was a brand in the USA, sold by Datsun dealers. There were no Nissan dealers in the USA when the 240Z was introduced. So technically Datsun introduced the Datsun 240Z in the USA in 1969. Therefore the author of the book is correct, the rest is just semantics. Eventually the brand name was changed to Nissan in the USA but long after the 240Z was sold.
  14. Well it wasn't a total loss, but it was one of those project steps which should have taken fifteen seconds turned into an hour of work. After the BFI removal, I cleaned everything up and made an "adapto-matic" extension to replace the original cut off portion and put the length back to where it should be. My aluminum adapter: Goop it up inside with silicone and put it back together: \ I actually made two adapters, but I don't remember exactly why. Either I needed to change diameters to use the mast from a different antenna, or it was simply "I cut it twice and it's still too short". Been too long to remember that detail, but in the end, the mast looked like this and it worked great: So like so many projects, it wasn't a total loss, but it took way longer than it should have because of unforeseen surprises.
  15. I tend to compare the L28 to 2.0 Pinto engine. they've got a lot in common and the size per cylinder is close. I wouldn't at this point go for leaner holders. I'd just go for 40 jets and see what difference it makes.
