  1. Cheaper and better for you. Maybe it comes with the training guy too...

Hi, That's my dash in the auction. In the box without padding is how I got it, but I will be packing it far better, better supported to keep it from flexing and with plenty of soft packing to keep it from moving around in the box. I got it about 6 months ago... and didn't realize it had a crack until I took it out of the box to take pictures for the auction. Hard to say what caused it, but I think it happened because in storage there was pressure pushing the center console opening wider at the bottom... Anyway, I am doing a restoration and will be going with a Vintage Dashes one - a series 1 style to match the one in my car. If they weren't available, I would use this one instead. Garrett
  3. Wow... This thread is a treasure. Gave me something to do during snowstorms here in Michigan. If any of you need some help with dodgy Chinese companies I can help clearing up things. Being a Chinese I'm not proud but I had dealt with them quite a while now. Kameari have some pretty cool products like the tensioner. Never go into their store cuz when I walked in wanting to buy a damper I ended up with a bag of stuff and an empty wallet! Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  4. 1978 280z Odometer reads 45K and that’s probably just what it is. Bought in 1999 from original owner with under 20K miles on it. I barely drive it nowadays and it just isn’t fair to the car. Well maintained, never failed a smog test. Renovations include but not limited to: new paint (BMW taupe metal-fleck), new upholstery (in original burnt orange), new wheels and dash cap. Wooden steering wheel and stick shift nob from my old 240z. This car is a joy to drive. When I’m on the road people wave, high-five and yell compliments at stop lights— it makes my day! Best conversation starter, ever, but you probably know all about that... Will have a price once tune up and general check up done. - Engine runs well and have only done the necessary or advised— as you can see. - Apron missing (under front bumper). - Rust spots under hatch - Tool kit is all there, never been used. Regulation issue Datsun spare tire inflator canister! And original spare tire which has transferred rust stains to well. Next up: service and repair record, or as much as I can lay my hands on. Let me know if need further photos. Thank you for interest and advice!
  5. Captain O and I would need the training guy to get the bar off of our chest.
  6. I have spent the last week sweating it out in the heat fitting seatbelts and reassembling the doors.
  7. Shiny stuff! Silvermine delivered the power steering system today. Prices have gone up but Edan squeaked me in under the wire for last years price. Still with shipping and taxes/duty it was over $1500 Cdn! Ouch. Hope it’s all I expect it to be...
  8. I just checked my receipt. Was 155 plus shipping. I first brought it to North Hollywood Speedometer & Clock Co to see if they could diagnose and repair. They could not but they could rebuild with modern components that would require a re-wire. I then looked and ebay and other stores. Did some more looking and found Speedometer Plus. Wasn't much more for a rebuild I trust vs gambling on something else. I mailed it to them on a Monday and it was back to me by Friday the same week. It's been great ever since.

So even though it has been sitting in a box all this time presumably with no direct sun light there is a crack. It could have been dropped I guess but I would be fearful the vinyl is pretty brittle just from age. Vintage Dashes is going to be working solid for the next 20 yrs.
  10. zstory full exhaust...

That's a good donor car for sure. I'm amazed at the parts I was able to pull off this one (all in boxes now) . It's saved me a ton of money and anguish.
  12. Rebuilt and replated the original 70-71 Tokico 7/8" master cylinder.
