  1. I didn't know he had died!!
  2. Which goes to show that, if you wait long enough, everything comes back for a second (or third, or fourth) run. Next up: plaid bell-bottom dress pants.
  3. Haha! So the "E" stands for "empirical"! That's awesome! I never knew that! Drilling that hole through the center isn't going to be a huge amount of fun either. Sounds simple, but probably won't be as simple as it sounds on paper. They use a special cutting edge geometry for brass that isn't as grabby. You'll know what I'm talking about the first time the bit grabs and spins your chuck in the tailstock. You have a set of collets for the lathe? They lend themselves well to this kind of small, high accuracy work. It's nice to be able to work on one end, cut-off, and then spin the part around to work on the other end with pretty good accuracy using just a collet. And your idea of making a block to help locate the holes is a good one. I do that kind of stuff all the time. I've got so many little special purposed fixtures around here that I've forgotten what some of the old ones were for! I'm certainly no machinist, but you know how to reach me if you need a sympathetic ear!
  4. Here's us last Saturday at the site of the best bacon cheeseburger in Arkansas----1/2 lb. of goodness after a spirited run through the Ozarks. Wish you were here!! Left to Right-----Jim Smirlies, Kent Yount, Zup, Scott McElroy
  5. Rob totally hooked me up. I reached out to him just as you suggested and he posted a kit for me. See link below. I think I may still buy some Hella Sharptones and paint them since I will have to deal with Austin traffic when I take the car out. I will restore the original horns and have them for safe keeping. Looking forward to getting the kit! https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Datsun-240Z-260Z-Roadster-Horn-Rebuild-Screw-Gasket-Kit/152768263718?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649

    Happy Halloween!!!
  7. Right, and that's my point. If it's so friken ugly now that it simply won't sell without a coat of paint, then I'd be worried you're putting lipstick on a pig. On the other hand, if it's not so bad now, then let the new owner make that decision. Just don't spray a quick, cheap coat of paint over poor prep and rusty metal and then offload a temporarily, shiny looking, hidden rust problem car onto some other unsuspecting owner in... where are you... in the US. How about some pics of the car as it is and we can give some more detailed input?
  8. I don't want to go on the cart! Seriously though... I'm just a guy with a latte. Those diagonal holes aren't gonna be the easiest thing in the world to do. You'll soon be in the market for a milling machine. Slippery slope I tell ya!!
  9. Is that new toy/lathe? Congratulations, it looks nice and a lot smaller than the old ones. I can think of some things I'd like to turn out but most likely cheaper at the belt buckle shop.

  11. Beautiful! A real time capsule.
  12. That's a remarkably clean car. It looks new! I will be very interested to see what it goes for, given that it is the less collectible 280Z.
  13. Price? What city in New York? Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  14. Looks like Z Car Garage will be showing off the Jenvey FI system at SEMA -- this installation is on the OS Giken head as well From their facebook page:
  15. I clicked the links and it just re-opened the thread. Not sure why. Here's an attempt at a fix. Edit - took out my links to shrink the page since cygnus fixed his.

I hate anecdotal evidence, but I will say again that the variable with the most pronounced effect in my plating experience was the regular addition of of the Caswell 'brightener' liquid to my electrolyte bath. I don't know why. I have no formula or explanation to offer. Alchemy! Sorcery! I too want a Caswell franchise where I can sell overpriced, unexplained chemicals to optimists just like me.
  17. Rota RB's 15 x 7 +4 offset - 205 60 R15's. I think these come real close to stock tire height also.
