DATSUN 240Z TO THE RESCUE! YOU'RE SAFE NOW LITTLE LADY!!! THANKS Zup! HAPPY 4TH OF JULY TO ALL!!!
  2. Great photo, glad he has a lady to spend time with. Buddy looks in super condition. I'd imagine he has to keep himself muscled up tho, just for the females sake. They like eye candy too. As to the lost balls, I'm fairly certain that HE did not have them taken off, not normally a male choice. But rather someone (you?) made that decision for him. Has he forgiven you yet? Thanks for sharing the photo. Jai
  3. McDonalds has been using that principle for decades, make something that looks like food but isn't really.

@siteunseen Do you need bail money today? @Mark Maras What about these ribs? As it's the fourth I thought I would tap some of you BBQ'ers to teach me this talent. I bought a new smoker this week. I have never done any smoking but as my wife is from Texas and I love brisket I thought I should learn. I would also like to learn to do ribs. So learn me something!

Whether its new cars, tools, smokers, ...etc., we need pictures or it didn't happen. I've been known to smoke brisket and chicken - haven't had any of my food rejected (yet).
  6. Kind of like the guy who worked in the elephant circumcision department at the Ringling Brothers circus used to say, "Pay's not good, but the tips are big". P
  7. Today I worked on the door hinges some I took them apart last year bead blasted them and painted the pieces. When I reassembled them I damaged some of the paint. Especially where I had to drive the pins in. The upper hinges had an area that I missed getting painted. I worked on touching those up today. Scuffed the with 400, degreased and painted. The upper hinges got better The lower hinge still didn't get colored all the way. I shot three lighter coats on the pins and had all kinds of drips but couldn't get them to cover. Not messing with them any more for now. If it really bothers me when it's assembled. I will touch it up with a brush. I also blocked the inside of the hood and shot a coat of primer into the center section
  8. Well it's been a little over a year and I am trying to get moving again. I have 15 months until Zcon Atlanta... This is the way the car currently sits I ordered $200 in bushings from Courtesy yesterday. I need to start working on getting the wheels back under it. Finding all the hardware is an issue. I need to try to figure out which bolts go where. I don't know that I have them all plated either

My Fujitsubo exhaust got here yesterday. Still waiting on a few more items and then will get started on the install.
  11. Hi all, I am posting this for a fellow member @stanleyp. He sent me a reply today when our club sent him a happy birthday message. It looks like he cannot drive the car anymore and would like to sell it to a club member. Here's some info about the car. It looks like a very well kept, low mileage, S30 in yellow (my favorite color). You can call Stanley at 315-633-2421. I should have more pics from him soon. His listed price is $19,500 OBO. One owner: Original motor with triple Weber's and K&N air filters, High performance Mallory High-Fire distributor, Coil and ignition module, New tires on original Mag rims, New high performance shocks and custom exhaust system, New fuel delivery and return system with high volume "pusher" pump. Engine compression over 180 psig in all six cylinders. Automatic transmission complete overhaul and rebuild, i.e., manually shift thru three gears or let the automatic do it for you. A great classic high power show car. Appraised by NY state appraiser at $25,000. Standard Oil Changes, Garage Kept, Accident Free, Clean, Non-Smoker. Year: 1971 Manufacturer: Datsun Model / Trim: 240Z Condition: Good Location: Kirkville, NY 13082 Mileage: 89,000 miles (143,231 kms) Doors: 2 Engine: 6 Cylinder Transmission: Automatic Exterior: Yellow Interior: Black
  12. Mark, Is this the problem where one symptom is the large whooshing when the gas cap is opened? Redbird has now resumed that problem since summer is here, along with slow response re-starting in the heat. Are these involved with the heat soak? If RB ramps up her past problems of stalling and not wanting to re-start, I might be interested in the fan set up you have. So far it is not that bad. Not sure what will show up when it gets horribly hot here. Oh, BTW, the second trip to Pete for A/C work, he found something that was loose and fixed it, as well as adding freon with dye. So far no leaking out, and a crisp coolness surrounds me as I drive. Love it! Jai
  13. I have the driver's and passenger's milk crates. I could get two more if you want a 2+2. The expense is dropping already! You could use 2x4s for the front crossmember and the tranny. This project could erase all your clean time so maybe you should pass? If your bride doesn't like a 535 there could be further problems? I think you may consider passing this one up. We can work together on a M front and SC rear motor for all wheel drive on a 240. A real $^!# your pants car!
  14. I'm thinking about making tools in my backyard, labeling them as Made in China on them and selling them on eBay. I think there's a market. No refunds.
  15. Good luck with that. At least you have a "first place to look" next time.
  16. I too, have pondered the why some do and some don't. The earlier the Z the less chance of heat soak, it would seem. Could it be that one of the larger puzzle pieces that is almost ignored is the fan. The heat soak problem happens in traffic (low to no speed), idling, and after shut-down, all in hot weather. It never happens at speed. At least if the engine is near stock. (the cooling system doesn't even need a fan at anything over about ten mph) So my line of thought is fan clutches. The resistance in them is all over the place, with varying ways of testing them. Personally, I've thought they sucked (definitely no pun intended) from the first time I owned one. I was never convinced that they were very efficient at pulling air, depending, of course, on how much resistance they had. A fan shroud would definitely help the alleviate the problem too, IMO. When the fan clutch froze up on my early 71 (metal fan), it sounded like a Cessna throttling up and it felt like the engine was down on power about 25%. Since I had a lousy opinion about the fan clutch to say nothing of the weight of that steel fan, I bought a flex fan with an extension. Previously I hadn't experienced drastic over heating. The temp would go up a bit in traffic. No heat soak problem. The flex fan did pull more air at idle. The temp didn't go up quite as high in traffic as before and it seemed like the engine revved faster. Probably because I dumped the boat anchor steel fan. The fan has to be a key element since it's job is not only to cool the internals of the engine but the externals too. BTW, If anyone with heat soak and is desperate enough, I have that flex fan set-up which could be borrowed to see what difference it makes, if any.

  18. Photobucket has gone downhill lately. I was recently browsing pictures on their site and there were WAAAYY to many ads. It was frustrating so I just closed the website. Guys, picture hosting on our club is FREE for members. You have your own albums and I back up this site every night. Take a look at our photos area, you'll be very pleased with the way it works. My favorite is the way you can drag and drop multiple pictures into a gallery without compressing, or resizing, the images. I can host images at no cost because we own the server and do not pay overages for storage or bandwidth. Most other sites have gone to a pay system because they are hosting their servers on the cloud. Cloud servers are convenient, but, cost too much money in the long run. I also do this for a living, which is why I know how to make it work.
  19. Haha!! Sometime, my friend, I'm going to make it to your neck of the woods and we can have Poutine and Beer. Guaranteed good times.
  20. Is there a way to retain the GB (water) texture that is on the aluminum, for long period of time? Kats those SUs look very nice. I like the cadmium coating on all the fittings.
  21. Very true. HP is nice, but torque, you can feel!
  22. Some initial filler All dressed in epoxy primer
  23. 2013 the booth is up .4 mil poly and a few 2x4's all media blasted. You can see the internal frame coating that dripped out before I primed the car... Built a box in the corner to hold a filter so the fan exhaust was screened...
