Mission accomplished. I used the old wire that had the thread bare covering on it (now I know that is the remains of the orig flap) removed the seat cover, put that wire in the flap, reinstalled the seat cover and used another wire to hook it and pull up to the center. After hog ringing that center in I put a few more in by just grabbing the flap (easier now with the center pulled up) and hog ringing in two more on each side. The effect is more subtle than I thought it was going to be based on how tight that pull was, but it does look better. Thanks gang for steering me in the right direction here.
  2. Thats just an excuse to hoot around on that yard tractor, but now without the snow chains I realise the climate probably nedds it, but that thing just cracks me up. Be safe on your next mission.
  3. FYI I tried to colour correct the pamphlet photo below and the yellow paint of the strut bolts/nuts popped out .... just like yours! I first thought they were bright cad/zinc plated
  4. Please take lots of photos! Every bit helps
  5. Thank you Chris, This photo makes me think it was a bit difficult to patch a shock basement dish with a tower, were they welded together prior to meet a wheel arch ? If I were there and watching it, I would ask the worker "please do not use a failure piece, use new one"... Here is a good example, her sister PS30-00087 has a good spot welding on the both towers. And about early head bolts, you are so lucky obtained it, just great. Fred, let us see what you see ! Kats

We should be having serious discussions on how to properly regulate and use our natural race horses. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club
  7. This site is excellent! It has some great members and an amazing amount of knowledge. Sometimes members occasionally "lock horns" but for the most part the banter is friendly and fun...
  8. Thanks! So far, looks like a great and supportive site.
  9. Kats, I'll check my early 10/69 Fairlady Z-L when I return home in a few days.
  10. Hi Kats Yes, I have the early crankshaft with six counter weights. My engine numbers are L24-2338 (26th-Z) and L24-2162 (27th-Z). Service bulletin TS70-28 (August 1970) indicates that beginning with engine number L24-3607, eight counterweights were used. My engines also have three different lengths of cylinder head bolts as described in service bulletin TS70-15 (April, 1970) which indicates that from engine number L24-04257, two lengths of cylinder head bolts were used. I was lucky enough to find the three different lengths when I rebuilt the engine. One spot weld appears to be deeper than the other. Perhaps the spot weld machine was not working properly or it did not stay in contact long enough.

And "pop-ups"? Most people hate them but not me and my girlfriend, especially in the morning.

What is all this fuss I hear about the Supreme Court decision on a deaf penalty? It's terrible! Deaf people have enough problems as it is!

Here's those pics. I hope they make sense @Diseazd @madkaw The later E88 has a straighter edge on the plug mound towards the intake valve, the best I can tell, it's the top one in this photo and has been shaved .040" by a machine shop, the dirty one is untouched early E88 with a bigger plug mound reducing the overall volume of the combustion chamber. Here are the stamps. Later version has the sloppy looking E88, it's the cleaner one on top. Notice how close the "NISSAN JAPAN" is after being cut by the machine shop compared to the lower dirty one. My E31. Notice there is no overhanging material above the plug mounds like the E88 have. I didn't grind that off, I think that is why the E31 has a higher CR than the E88s. Here's Nutty Buddy. Waiting on a command from me. The only one he can't seem to understand is "GET!".

Guy I'll get those photos ASAP. "Crazy" is very kind way to describe mine, I normally use different words. He's almost a year old so I've got one more to go. He has recently figured out I'm the one that turns the door knobs. 180 from my female that passed away, not necessarily bad but completely different.
  15. Haha!! So you were thinking you could use tighter staples as a country facelift? Nice!!
  16. I told them to bring it in tighter, I'm almost 50 and got carded a month or so ago. Turns out the girl just started and was in training, but I was happy for a few days. 8^)
