  1. You forgot the worst four-letter word of all around Datsuns: "RUST"

Have you considered Bring a Trailer? Aside from being a nice diversion at the office, they seem to have the hots for Datsuns over there: a number of listings have generated higher bids than I personally thought the cars would be worth.

Yep! I'm good. Still have Her Majesty and sister 27th. I got hit really hard during the 2007 - 2013 depression. Stopped working (spending money) on the cars and stopped participating in Z-Car events after the Nashville convention in 2010. Things are MUCH better now. Thanks for asking about me.
  4. Heck, you wouldn't need locks at my house or Greg's. At my house, the car could be blocked in easily, and no one lives near Greg's house.
  5. Maybe I'll make the one next spring? Glad you had fun, you know what you were saying about eating a banana split for the first time. I'm going to have to get my doors locking before I come to the big city for C&O. Thanks @gwri8
  6. Sorry, My bad. I mis read your post earlier. You can measure the baukring clearance without dismantling the gears. It would give you and idea of wear. Here are some photos of my old ones. They look good, but the new Nissan synchros are so much better. Third is a screen shot from manual with Baulk ring gap meassurement. Forthly, I had a basic bearing puller so I made this one to do the job. To help remove the bearings you can keep the transmission as cool (don't leave it in the sun) as possible and warm the bearings or gears. Don't heat them with a gas torch, but a heat gun or something similar will help. You want about 60 Deg C temp difference to help ease it off. C3 bearings don't like bearing heated too much, but you will most probably replace them if the transmission turns out servicable. Chas
  7. Took it to a local transmission shop "DrZ auto" in winter garden, Spoke to a guy there that has work on these before, he looked over the gears and the synchos, did not think anything looked abused (other than the reverse idler, he echoed the same thing about non synch rear and could be clutch dragging.
  8. You're right @charliekwin They've got the fever man! More cowbell.
  9. Hmmm, I'll trade you a 5spd (needs bearings) and let you have visitation rights if you bring it over to my house. Sound fair? After all, there is some dirt on the fenders and it is pretty old and stuff……(Starting to sound like Frank from American Pickers, I hate that guy. He would never make it down my driveway). Seriously, when I was at the Chattanooga Cruise a lot of Folks asked where they could get a 240. That would be a close enough to easily sell there if you decided to keep it local. You should have no problem selling it anywhere. If I had the cash, it would be mine by now.

I am sure that Chester & Herod would accommodate your request. Just ask for, let me think ..... one of the many Jim's.
  11. My comment about the BD rails was in no way a criticism, I love them. I do like the way the rear mounted sway bar is up and out of the way. Installing driveshaft bolts with the sway bar in the way is a real pain. Chris
  12. That blog is great! I have already enjoyed reading it and have only gotten to a few posts. On the topic of spindle pin removal, there are several well documented threads of pain and misery, mine is one of them below. Good luck to him with it and be careful working on them. http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/45649-spindle-pin-woes/
  13. It was replaced to my blue 240Z. I want people in Japan to be interested in export S30 more and more . Kats
  14. I went fishing with my son by my Z432. After arriving home I found a water pump leakage. I intalled the osccilator of my 240ZG correctly which was installed up side down . I checked it and still keeping accurate time. Kats
  15. I had the same problem with the panels in my Mustang. Simply de-grease them, sand it with 500, then de-grease again and directly paint it with motip black matte, a few layers ( for wear ) http://www.motip.com/products/motip/automotive/universal-lacquers/lacquer-black/ Comes out like Original.
  16. John, I had forgot those, what is really remarkable is they started as black. Talking about SEM products, a buddy of mine just re-finished a dash for me using the satin black.(I tried it doing it but it came out horrible) He has the patience for that kind of work, here have a look.
  17. My interior is off white. It was very dirty over the 26 years in storage. I used acetone with white T-shirt pieces until soiled then got another. The acetone did not hurt the texture, cleaned it very well. Make sure you have plenty of fresh air. Then I used several coats of SEM 15103 Super White vinyl dye. Came out very nice and happy with the results. I also was thinking about wrapping in leather, but that will have to wait. Bonzi Lon
  18. AH, the preverbial can of worms is open... In stead of a character, you could use BLEEP! as the replacement. On the bullrun website, they used shift-1234 or (!@#$ as the replacement, but the people on Bullrun don't have the ability to converse without profanity- it's a reality show! and "real men" use profanity. But not the real men of CZCC.
