Hi Chris ! Welcome to this club .

Nice collection you have , more examples helps more understanding , keep joining for everyone here .

Here I put some examples ,
I found the green “ survivor “ Z432 which I posted before is closed to the BAT car ‘s build date , this Z432 would be considered as a “ April or May 1970 “ made .This  PS30-00248 has a seat belt tag “ 4. 1970 “ , and the jack has a date stamp “ P. D. H “ ( means 1970 , April , 8th ) . I would like to see the jack of the BAT car much closer , I see “ P “ on the left , but it is not clearly seen , so I will wait until I get the clear shot .

This Z432 has the screws  , rare as a Japanese car .

The original aluminum radiator has a sticker “ 0  C “ , 1970 March, a little bit earlier than that of the BAT car’s radiator.

About the inspection lid clip , the BAT car has a metal clip for both , while this Z432 has a milk white plastic clip just like other early cars.

I really love this cap , it says remove slowly in Japanese, “ ユツクリ マワセ “ . Could it be an original cap ? Or even if it was a replacement , this cap is cool .

The BAT car , the Z432 both have early tail lights , no mark on the upper corner.

And please feel of the shape of this green Z432’s seats , they are truly originals.

As a comparison, the silver Z432 is owned by Mr. Yoshida , December 1970 made . The seats of the silver car looked #2 , slightly slim type seat back , to my eyes.

@kats thanks for your opinion (I am in agreement) with pictures regarding the door panel screws, my car #6521 also has them.

@christoffel  With what has been discussed here and on BaT, I'm in agreement that it makes sense that these screws were added by the original dealers during the PDI process when it was deemed they were necessary.

I mentioned on BaT that I would check the holes in my panels and doors as I recently removed mine, here is what I found. I have owned the car since 1978 and I would say this was the first time they had be removed. I base this on the fact there was remnants of plastic wrap on the door fasteners and top corners. Also the interior of my car was meticulously kept by the original owner.  The holes appear to be in the same location as we usually see in pictures but there placement is similar but not exactly the same on the left and right doors, the hardware seems to be the same as others have described.  It really has the appearance of "a fix" and not a designed production feature.  It would make sense that dealers were advised of this potential issue and given a correct measure, this would explain why most cars we see have such a similar fix.

Here is a good discussion on this subject and other interior topics:

Cheers, Mike

Hello Kats,

@katsMaybe beter to do the discussions here than on Whatsapp.

I think the silver Z432that  is owned by Mr. Yoshida , December 1970 made, has seats of a 1972 car.

I'm in the proces of restoring 69 seats and its very difficult to see differences with 1970 seats. The hardware of the seats is the same. But a car with 21K miles can already have an inflated seat cushion is my experience

@CanTechZ  Ithink we came to a conclusion about the screws!      The picture of the seat protector you are showing is of a 69 car. I don't know till wich VIN the cars had the seatprotectors. But many lost them in the battle

@kats  The taillights without marks on the upper part were used till around VIN 12000. BUt I have to check. Later series one cars had already the marks on the upper part of the taillights. So I have been hoarding them for some time.

@kats The radiator cap I don't know, I have to check. My radiators I already restored with the correct parts

@kats The green Z432 must have been produced in late 69 due to the clip of the inspection lid. This clip and the way it is positioned means the car has also the first type of frontfenders

I have one more observation about the bat car that others may be more

knowledgable about.  I would rather make my observations here

rather than commenting at the auction site so as not to bias prospective

bidders with unsubstantiated observations.

In photos # 97 - 101 on the auction,  I noticed that the rear window defogger

electical connector and its sleeve are “straight”, or “in-line” with the wire leads.

All of these electrical connectors with their sleeves that I have seen are

made with a “90 degree” wire fastener incorporated with these connectors

to accommodate the originating location of the defogger wire leads.

Would this “straight”connector possibly be particular to ‘69 - ‘70 cars, or

is this possibly a purposeful modification?  What say you!

Hi christoffel , The plastic clip for the inspection lid is not for 1969 only, my car 03/70 has the plastic and the front fender U shape hook is also early type . So I guess plastic clip until mid 1970 ?

Hi Dan , good observation, the straight connector can be seen on 1970 cars , so this could be too , until mid 1970 ?
My 01/70 and 03/70 are both straight on that .

Went to the storage unit today, so took a couple pics of HLS30-02614 of items that we have been discussing.  The one loose seat is a passenger seat from a '73

The two door screws look to be 'oval head' screws with a hard clear (now yellowed) plastic collar underneath.

Hi motorman7 , thank you so much for the good pictures , your car has very good condition a pair of early original seats , the driver’s seat has been kept so nice .

Still to my eyes , the BAT car’s driver’s seat looked different from the passenger seat which is keeping an early original “ fat “ seat back .

As a side note , Mr. Yoshida ‘s silver Z432 has original seats .
