I did see those values on Haggerty. That is definitely one of my go-to websites. But I still really don't know quantity out there, and the demand.

anyone know any specialist on the east coast of the USA? Can't really go to Canada with this one.

There is a ton on this site about how to value these cars.  Matching numbers, rust, provenance, all of that.  You've asked essentially the same question multiple times.  Really looks like you're just trying to set a flip price.  You haven't asked anything about how to restore them or where to get parts.  Might be why the response is muted.  Nothing wrong with buying and reselling, but the beating around the bush will get old.  

Why not just put it on eBay with a high reserve?  Post lots of pictures.  We'll pick it apart and when it doesn't hit your reserve number you'll have a high bid to guesstimate the price.  There's a guy in Beverly Hill CA that does that over and over.  Beware though, that now that "harmony01" car and all of his cars actually, is/are tainted with all of the bad press.  I doubt that anyone from this site would buy it for what the guy's asking.  He's had it up too many times, it's old news.  Who wants to be the sucker that finally paid maximum price?

Just pick a good profit for your time, add it on, and resell.  Everybody wins.

I am sorry I'm coming off like I'm here just to figure the value to flip it.  But i guess that's part of where my mind is. I started buying, tinkering,  selling and keeping cars 5 years ago.  It's an addictive hobby. I listed the card i got, excluding the wife and kids.  

I started looking for parts already,but I'm 2 weeks away from putting this up on a lift and getting the professional opinion. I am happy to see there are resources and unibody parts out there.  If this rebuild is out of my budget,  I'll be selling it.   

As i may have mentioned last night, i want to lesrn alot and i dont want to be upside down on this investment.  

So I'm not the guy who had one back in the day and have been chasing one. But i am glad i came across it and grabbed it. Time will tell what i do with it.

Some "facts" well maybe opinions from my recent view of the market.  

The restoration costs of that car, if you have it done by a professional, to concourse level, will leave you with a beautiful car but will be worth much less at resale than it cost you to restore. It's VIN in is not low enough.

If you do ALL the labor yourself, ie that portion is "free" then you may come out even in the end after retail sale, IF it's done very very well. 

Any cost cutting or poor quality will DEFINITELY leave you upside down.

My two cents. Things are definitely improving market-wise, but we ain't "there" yet.

I posted this comment and then read zKars comment above, were saying the same thing I guess.

 

Although there is a strong market for early numbers matching 1970 Z's, in order to get the $40,000-60,000 prices you would have to put at least that much into the car. If you do the work yourself and you are good at it you can break even or make a bit but your labour has to be free. Your car being made in May of /70 is a good example of a series 1 car but it's not really considered early. The most money is going for cars that are under the 00500 serial number. The outside sheet metal looks solid with no serious dents or dings and looks like a good candidate for dumping lots of money intoLOL I'm serious though.

I just sold my 03/70 Z on ebay in the spring, got $19,400 for it. I spent 4 yrs restoring myself, I got my cash outlay back and maybe 2 cents an hour for my labour, but my labour is free and I had a great time working on it.

On this forum the love of all things Z is almost spiritual, deity like. When someone comes on asking what their great buy is worth you can practically hear the teeth grinding (mostly because we didn't get to buy it before you)  So don't be offended if we don't fawn over it. The best thing I can see about your car is that it doesn't look like it has been messed with too much, the engine bay although in rough shape looks original, the car looks like it may have had a respray in the past but quite original.
