Clutch/Tranny Noise

It could be loose pressure plate bolts, Ive seen that on another car (not a Zed) and it made a similar noise. That clutch was replaced 2 years before and came loose over 30k km. The throw out bearing is also a possibility, but a failing throw out bearing generally makes more noise when the clutch is depressed.

Either way, you will need to remove the transmission to find out.

OK guys so I've determined that I need to do my clutch. I work for NAPA but the clutch kit for the 240Z is now obsolete and I can't get one through work. So far the options I've found are two kits from Rock Auto ranging from $95 to $125 and one from thezstore.com for $145. Do you guys have any recommendations?

I used Sachs KF536-01 sourced from O'Reilly's when I did my clutch a year and a half ago which cost me about $95. It has been adequate so far in my relatively stock Z, but then again just about anything should be. Convenient enough it came with a new throwout bearing carrier too, not just the bare bearing.

They still list that same part number in their catalog as a "PowerTorque®" brand clutch kit. No idea if it's related or not.

I'm using a Rhinopac OEM-style clutch. Easy engagement, light pedal, no problems with holding power (stock engine and 205 tires). A very smooth replacement part. I would buy another. My old Zoom Perfection OEM-style clutch had a stiff engagement and chattered when it got hot. I will avoid in the future.

I bought both new, and used them on non-resurfaced flywheels (cheap, not recommended practice).
