I am posting this as another landmark day for the "Datsun 240Z" as it was judged best in class, Sports and GT 1965-1976, against 9 other cars (6 were Porsches) at the 2014 Pinehurst Concours. The event was held yesterday, at the Pinehurst Golf Resort with a very elaborate field of cars. The judges were from many well known concours like Pebble Beach and Amelia Island. I had the chance to talk with many current and past owners of Z's and hopefully some are on this site.

Second Place: 1965 Porsche 356C owned by Tim Herman, Hickory, N.C.

Third Place: 1970 Porsche 911S owned by William C. “Rusty” Russ, Jacksonville, Fla.

The only problem with the Hagerty article is that "The 240Z has its roots in a 1964 design penned by Albrecht Goertz..." FWIW.
