I noticed that my gas tank seems to build up pressure, is this normal? Also, and possibly related, I had fuel leaking out of my rear SU carb after a few miles last week and the fuel pressure gage recently was showing 7.5 psi after a drive. The carbon canister was deleted by a PO. The return line to the fuel tank was reconnected after ? years so it has not been tested other than to confirm it was not leaking. My fuel system is currently as follows: 1) Fuel is pumped from the fuel tank, through a fuel filter using an after-market electric fuel pump to the engine compartment. 2) Fuel is pumped through the mechanical fuel pump and into a DIY fuel rail wit…

What transmission fluid is best? I have 1978 280z. I made another post about how to remove the infamous fill plug. But never actually asked what fluid to use. I’ve heard good things about redline MT90 but when I look online for it all i find is full synthetic, not sure if thats the right fluid. Any pointers on the best? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My carbonator linkage disconnected during a drive so I pulled the hood release lever to fix it only to have it pull out with a broken cable. I had it towed home and it's up on my lift. If I want to try and release the latch with a long screw driver, what does the latching mechanism's cable attachment point look like from underneath? Oh... BTW: Happy 4th of July

Does anyone know if there should be a foam filter inside the differential vent? The differential is an R180 on a '73 240. I removed the plastic differential vent and there was some disintegrating foam material inside which fell apart when I removed it. I am going to reassemble without the foam and hope that it doesn't blow the gear oil out the vent.

Well I posted earlier this month about my gas tank woes, and the shop who put the new fuel pump in said that my fears of having a bunch of dirt and water in the bottom of the tank, might not be so, Howie said if the car was parked, for whatever amount of time, Had real gasoline in the tank when parked it might have not be such a mess after 13 years ? but I also asked for them to see if the drain plug on the bottom of the tank to see if it would break loose, ( it did ) which makes me think that water hadn't been at the bottom of the tank ( I was thinking if the drain plug had a lot of rust, it might be frozen in place ) But it broke loose so maybe that a good sign ? But I …

Is there any way to find original part number and cross reference of different part numbers ? I need to find a fuel pump relay and you can go to Ebay, but there's no way to determine whether the sellers part number and or part is the real part you need ?

I've read many of the posts, but never found reference to the vacuum advance. Do I plug the advance when setting initial timing?

Howdy, Just got my 71 240z out and took it for a drive. I had replaced the spark plugs with the stock NGK plugs before the winter season. During the winter, I would start it, move it around, but never really drove it. Today I took it out and had popping ( slight back fire) out the exhaust and no real power when I stepped on the gas. Got it home and checked the #4 and #3 spark plug, and they were black. I did turn the choke off when I was driving and it does not look like it's stuck on. So I am assuming that the issues is mixture on the carbs, but was also thinking of going back to Bosch Platinum plugs. I had good luck with them in the past and on other cars. …

Hi All, Purchased a manifold gasket from MSA. Installed to fix a vacuum leak on a new manifold. Fixed the vacuum leak but under driving load developed a exhaust leak. See pic and leak location (yellow dot, front side of the center section of the exhaust flange). I can put my finger over the location and feel the air pulses. Engine ran for three weeks fine but developed the leak while driving under load. Running a Kameari manifold with MSA 6 into one header on a L28 with N42 head. Retorqued the flange nuts no change, It's appears I'll be crying and removing the entire intake and header again to install a new gasket (third time is the charm I hope 😞). …

Hi all. I recently came down with ALS, but not before buying a set of MSA headers for my 73 240z. I can't manage the install myself anymore, and can't send them back. I'd like to pay someone in KC to do the work. Probably be able to drive it this summer, then have to sell it. Anyone know someone in KC? Thanks, Matt
